I guess Danny thinks the bench he has is good enough...but it is not.

Was hoping Rozier would be shipped out today.

For what?  Is there a player out there that makes $3.8 million that you want more than Rozier?  $6 million if you throw in Jabari Bird?  Mirotic is nice — he’s not that much better than someone like Ellington who will be bought out.

Besides, deadline acquisitions are often overrated.  The team is finally starting to gel — mixing in someone for a few months might not be worth it.  We were all excited for Greg Monroe last season, but that turned out to not be very helpful.

Think trading Rozier is addition by subtraction. He is terrible off the bench. He is frustrating to watch.

Mirotic is an atrocious defender, and bad defenders get exposed in the playoffs. It's going to be hard for the Bucks to hide both him and Lopez on defense at the same time.

IMO it would be a mistake playing both on the floor at once.

It's going to be a tough situation for them to manage. Glad we have Stevens to counter it.

Interesting.
Makes sense. Cs do not have good big man depth. Baynes being constantly injure does not help. Also, need to think about Embiid/Boban as well. Theis has no chance vs those guys.

kanter any better than theis,  who isn't getting any time already?   i don't know how adding anybody without subtracting some people will do much.  just not enough minutes.

Positioning is going to be really important in the playoffs this year. At this point, Milwaukee looks cemented in that 1 spot, while Toronto is very well catchable at the 2 seed.

Ideally, we take the 2 seed from Toronto to give us home court advantage through the second round of the playoffs. Most importantly, though, we need to avoid the 4/5 matchup, as that is a nightmare playoff seeding in the first two rounds likely having to play two of Indy, Philly, and Milwaukee.

Yes, Kanter would be an upgrade for Theis. Kanter is a great rebounder and back to the basket scorer. He's not playing in NY right now because he hurts their tanking campaign.

perhaps this is earlier or elsewhere, but interesting rumor. perhaps the celtics and NO have a deal in principle?

New: Per sources, the Pelicans have reached out to the Celtics seeking promises on specific AD packages. The Cs have been reluctant to do that 5 months early, but have made it clear no one is off limits and that it’ll be worth the wait. The latest: https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/celtics/2019/02/06/celtics-are-reluctant-make-promises-now-but-they-remain-all-anthony-davis/B98dcbGjn6Xwwwuxe557wL/story.html

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I found this article.

Really funny.

Dearest Pelicans, you sweet fools: do not under any circumstance trust the Celtics to do what is best for the Pelicans in this matter, because what is best for the Pelicans is diametrically opposed to what is best for the Celtics.

Not that Kanter's atrocious D is much better lol But at least he's a beast on the boards and would help there, let alone his post scoring abilities.

Ideally Baynes is healthy, as he's one of the better (if not best) defenders of Embiid in the league.

Agreed. At worst, Kanter is a 7 footer who can give you 6 fouls and can rebound/score.

I like that potential fit.

He's like a better version of Monroe.  Not useful in every matchup, but he could give you 15-20 good minutes in the right situation.

I mean, he should be better than Greg Monroe was last year. But then again, Greg Monroe should have been better than Greg Monroe was last year.

Dang, the Bucks have a really nice starting 5.

Bledsoe - Middleton - Giannis - Niko - Lopez

w/ Hill, Brogdon, Snell, Ilyasova off the bench.

Sixers have Simmons, Redick, Butler, Harris, Embiid w/ McConnell, Korkmaz, Scott, Boban off the bench.

Competition looks real fierce in the East.

Brogdon should start. Gives Milwaukee better defensive quickness and is more versatile on offense. More quickness, more ball-handling, driving and passing.

Brogdon is their Marcus Smart

Mirotic should come off the bench.
