Fully admit the dog days of summer are getting to me and am just bored..

Lets run a hypothetical trade - Embiid for Tatum straight up, everything else the same. Current teams as constructed, current contracts as constructed etc.. No other deals on the table as in "yes brown/no tatum" Assume the core of each will be Brown/Embiid/Prozingis and Harden/Tatum/Maxey/Harris for philly

The only thing i'll add to this is another failed year for both teams of not winning a championship or making it to the finals. Say one loses in the ECF and the other in the Semi's.

I don't see it for either team.  PHI ends up with no size, BOS ends up with not enough wings.  Embiid is the better individual player but is not going to hold up.  I would rather have Tatum for the long haul.

There would have to be so many other moves by each team for this trade to even begin to make sense for either team.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

He d play five games and it would an ACL or back surgery, something catastrophic.

I’m willing to trade or have him on the team , just heck Noooooo for our best player.

If he was trying to get on the Celtics and a deal that doesn’t include Tatum , I d listen.

This.
Both Embiid and Tatum say no. Not to start a "Lillard" conversation but elite players do have sway, can't be denied.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
No way, Embiid is one or two seasons away from being a 40 game a season player. 7 foot 2 and that heavy, his knees and feet are ticking time bombs,

Tatum can play for four quarters, Embiid breaks down almost every game in the fourth

Tatum is clearly the better player. Embiid has never even made it to the ECF. Since we got Tatum, we've gotten that far each year with regularity.

Tatum lead the league in minutes last year, Embiid has missed nearly half of his career with injuries. And it's only going to get worse, big guys with foot problems don't suddenly get healthier at 30.

I see what's posted here fairly regularly about Tatum, and it's obvious to me that many fans have no idea what we have in him.

This. Why is Embiid getting a pass for collapsing so frequently in the playoffs? He has talent on his team.

he is a hurt a lot, including in the post season.  An entirely different reason to not do the trade, but also part of why he has gotten a pass.  Poor coaching and roster construction hasn't helped either.  And the two prior years to the last one, the Sixers were SIGNIFICANTLY better with him in the game.  This past post season though, they were worse and you are starting to see a bit more criticism of him for both his play and not staying healthy enough.
