Nesmith and Fernando assigned to Maine Celtics.

Maine has a game today.  I expect they’ll be recalled tomorrow.

Justin Kubatko: Jaylen Brown last night: ✅ 22 PTS ✅ 11 REB ✅ 11 AST It’s the first time Brown has recorded a triple-double in his NBA career. He’s the first @Boston Celtics player to record a 50-point game and a triple-double in a four-game span since Larry Bird in November 1989. -Via Twitter

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

They should let Pritchard get some burn, too. Keep him from getting rusty.

Great move for Nessie and Bruno to get some reps.  Also good for the C's if either of them can manage build up their stock as trade throw-ins.

I guess the Romeo / Nesmith debate is over.

Pritchard has Covid, so that wasn’t an option.

TP - Looking at the box score, Nesmith shot well and hustled, getting 21 points and 9 rebounds, but he also had 4 fouls and 5 turnovers. Seems like he outplayed the competition like he should, but did it while playing as out of control as he does in the big leagues.

I have only watched the 1st half but he looked like he was in control.  A couple of the TOs were bad passes but some seemed to be the product of players not playing or practicing together.  I think AN expected certain off ball movement.  There were a couple of plays were AN pulled the other player aside and looked like he was talking about cuts/movements.

He also had at least 1 TO on a pass to the corners when he should have taken the shot at the rim.  I think that's probably because he's been coached in Boston to kick the JT/JB/GW or other shooters in the corners.

The fouls have always been my biggest concern with his game, personally.

I think the shot would come around with consistent minutes.  Might be a stupid hill to die on when he's shooting 23% from three halfway through the season, but here I am; we all have our dumb takes.  And I don't care about the turnovers.  He was playing on ball a lot for Maine, navigating screens, driving some, trying to distribute.  In Boston, he's almost strictly a catch-and-shoot guy who can occasionally attack closeouts but otherwise isn't putting the ball on the floor much or making many decisions.  Not a role where turnovers are a concern.

But his inability to defend without fouling is keeping him off the court.  He clearly tries, but he has to find a way to play adequate defense with less mistakes.  And it would be nice if he wasn't a threat to himself and others on the court, too.

Bruno killed it in that game.

Good stuff.

Mark Murphy: Tatum on a talk he had with Jaylen Brown: “We live in a world where we are on our phones and TV and see all the things about we can’t play together and everybody in the media saying that one of us got to go. We both want to be here and both want to figure it out.”  – via Twitter Murf56

Mark Murphy: M Tatum: ” There’s not many players in the league like JB. The grass ain’t always greener and we’ve had some great stretches and I think this year hasn’t been what we expected but I think in the long run it will be good for us.”  – via Twitter Murf56

Hey, say what you want - our guys respond a lot to being called out in public.

Whether that's in the pregame interviews, podcasts or media, by the coach, teammates or reporters ... they seem to take that to heart more than anything!

So, screw it. Go nuts!

Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Robert Williams each grabbed 12+ rebounds against the Pacers on Tuesday.

The Celtics haven't had three players with a dozen boards each in a game since Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parish in 1989.
