Back again with my (almost annual) thread on tracking the C's picks for this coming draft.
Link to last year's thread below:
Celtics 2020 Draft picks
Standings as of 3/30/2021

only have the one pick to worry about this year.  they are owed the OKC second rounder but it’s top 55 protected so that’s not coming to us.

Boston Pick #15 (tie with Miami)
Games Behind    Current Wins     Games Left    Last 10
NO                         1.5                   21                     26                6-4
Indiana                  1.0                   21                     27                5-5
Sacramento            1.0                   22                     25                7-3
GSW                       —                    23                     25                4-6
Memphis                +0.5                 22                     28                5-5
Miami                       —                   23                     25                4-6
Boston                  ---                    23                      25               4-6
Atlanta                  +0.5                   23                    26                7-3
Knicks                    +1.0                  24                    25                5-5
Charlotte                +1.0                  23                    27                6-4
SAS                       +1.5                  23                    28                4-6
Dallas                    +2.0                  24                    27                5-5

Note: Listing Memphis as a team to catch even though they have a better record than the C's since Memphis is currently in the lottery.

-->C's are playing .500 ball which is below their talent level.  They’re in a huge pack of teams also playing about .500 ball.  They’re on the cusp of making/missing the playoffs so their pick right now could swing as high as #10 if they go in the toilet or if the other teams start playing better OR it could climb to #21 if they start playing up to their abilities and the other teams continue to play .500 ball.

Sobering that our draft slot is nearly the same as the cherished Griz pick last year and Kings pick prior to that.

Brutal that our pick looks like that. Already got as many losses as last season

I think frightening may be a better description considering how one bad week would be all it takes to swing us anywhere from 10 to 21 right now

Originally was going to post “pathetic” but feel I’ve gotten too negative. Lol. Trying to remain hopeful. I guess silver lining is we get a better trade chip. Seriously doubt we use it unless Ainge absolutely loves the guy. Preferably a 3-4 year college guy too.

A 3-4 year college guy could be great. Kispert looks really solid, but that's really the only 3-4 year guy in that range.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

thanks, considering how jammed up most of the teams are, I think I'm tracking more for just this one pick than I've tracked the prior seasons with multiple picks.

Anyone follow James Bouknight from UConn?  6'5" scoring guard?  Projected to go right around where we are picking at moment (18).

Could he be a future starting PG replacement for us?

I'm not a fan.  Sometimes it's tough to tell when a kid is so obviously the engine for his team and has to pick up a lot of slack, but to the same point he seemed to exhibit some very questionable offensive decision-making.  29% from 3 on 5 attempts per game is Smarfian, and 1.8 assists/2.8 turnovers per game is not promising for a PG.  I should add that my first two sentences were written before I looked up his stats, and I was surprised they were as bad as they were.  I thought he'd be a low-30s shooter with a 1:1 assist/turnover ratio.

Watching the tourney, been talking myself into Davion Mitchell although I'm sure his draft stock has risen well above where the Celtics will be drafting at this point.

I like him, despite his weird attempts at copying Donovan Mitchell ;D

Two way guard who can pass, shoot, and has the athletic ability to guard 1-2. Perfect for Brad's two guard lineups, and could make for some fun with PP
