See I can understand the use of Autotune up to a point. It gets rediculous when you have a good singer in RKelly absolutely plastering it over his vocals. I really hope this trend dies soon.

Yeah .. this is a cool example of how technology has surpassed talent. It's really not that new a technology though, as the same thing was being done with the Snyclavier many years ago ... assigning compressed signal to whatever key was desired. Then came mass sampling and more direct-to-signal applications. I actually like the effect once-in-a-while and have used it on a couple of recordings, but I think it can be way overdone, as with the R.Kelly tune ... it just gets a bit old if it's used for an entire song, I think.

Thanks man, yer it's definently over used the ol' Autotune, but it will follow trend with other fads that have swamped pop music (e.g. that awful warbling the new age diva's used to do, the over use of the 'tainted love' bassline, etc...)
