Any comparison to Kevin Durant. Durant is a seven footer with a seven 3 wingspan wing span who moves and shoots the ball like a shooting guard and can the best perimeter guy or protect the rim when he is locked on. Whenever somebody gets compared to him its usually because the guy is tall-ish, and skinny. But even the physical comparison often shortchanges Durant because he is much stronger than most people realize. And the skills are so  completely out of this world that even physical clone wouldn't be a good comparison.

It seems every year some big with excellent perimeter skills gets compared to Al Jefferson.

Huh? Al was uh not known for his perimeter skills, he was an excellent post and mid-post player. Or is that why it's a bad comp?

Yup.

Here is the nbadraftroom blurb and comparison for Naz Reid, who is a silky smooth outside shooter.
I can't remember which site did a silly Al J. comparison last year...but it seems to come up a lot.

HT: 6-10 - WT: 240 - WING: 7-3 - FROM: LSU
Reid is a big, strong, old school forward with a high skill level and slick ball handling ability. A very heady player who can really pass the ball for a big.
Nene, Al Jefferson

Haha noted jump-shooter Nene too. That makes sense; I was confused by how bad the bad comparison was!

First name that comes to my mind is Brandon Ingram. Pretty much everybody was comparing him to KD prior to the draft.

In all honesty, I really liked him at the time. To my mind, it was 2007 all over again: top 2 or bust (Simmons and Ingram). I was quite disappointed when we ended up at #3.

Still like him to an extent. Still think he has what it takes to become an All-Star caliber player.

Another recent example would be Jonathan Isaac. His wingspan ain't that impressive, but his skinny frame reminded a lot of people of KD.

The two that come to mind for me are:

-Bob Cousy seriously comparing Whiteside to Russell
-Harold Miner being the next Jordan.  He even earned the nickname of "Baby Jordan" in 1992:
