While I think they were both top 3 or 4 prospects coming into their respective seasons, Jackson is considered a much higher prospect than Brown. 6'8 playmaker that is great on D and a real competitor. Now I will say this since I havent seen him as much as Tatum, the knocks on Jackson you have to take serious. His shot is a mess. But the bigger knock is his age. He is already 20. The question becomes is he beating up on kids that are much younger than him?
I like Jackson from what I have seen but those questions need to be answered.
Now having seen a fair amount of Tatum over the past 2 years you can see his shot creation translating to the pros well. He knows how to create his mid range shot. The question with him is when faced with better athletes how will he perform? He had some issues in the post season tourneys when facing Jackson and others. Also, is a playmaker?
Now with all that said I think I take Tatum right now. Long term I can see him playing next to Brown although I need to see what he does with better teammates this year.
Alot of questions. Good thing the draft isnt next week.
Josh Jackson seems like a very similar prospect based on HS info. Maybe Jaylen was a tad more highly touted. Jaylen's freshman season at Cal was widely viewed as disappointing, so if Jackson has a freshman season more on par with expectations, then he'll probably be a more highly rated prospect. Jason Tatum looks like Jabari Parker 2.0-- it's possible he'll be highly rated but not likely that he'll actually be good.
