Pretty good move by the cubs who had to counter with sabathia the other night.

Cubs actually traded matt murton, oringinally drafted by the sox and dealt to chicago in the nomar trade

Harden's another one of those injury prone guys who can be great when he's on but can also spend a lot of time on the DL.

It's gamble for the Cubbies but I think its one worth taken.  Great squad but they need to stay healthy.

wow, very impressive counter move.

Cubs & Brewers are going to fight this one out to the end.

Good for baseball.

I don't like the deal.

Hardin's always hurt. VERY huge gamble by the Cubs with about a 50 percent chance of backfiring.

cubs gave up nobody, really, for an elite pitcher if healthy (and he's been pretty healthy this year) and another pitcher that is a legit #3. horrible trade for oakland (i'm an a's fan).

Are the prospects the Cubs gave up that good?  None of them have done anything overly impressive this year.  I'm sure they all have some level of potential, but it's not like the Cubs gave up any major building blocks, is it?

Harden has a very reasonable salary, and Gaudin is having a good year.  The Cubs took a risk, but it's not like it's a huge one.  Best case scenario, they got an extremely talented young pitcher and a reliever who helps.  Worst case scenario, they gave up four moderate-ceiling prospects.

I hadn't heard about the Sabathia trade til last night and I was pretty darn happy to see Milwaukee making a trade to make themselves competitive.  Good counter by the Cubbies.  Should be a fun race.
