Nightmare of a matchup between Sasha Pavlovic and LeBron James.
Going to be extremely difficult to win this game without Paul Pierce (especially w/o his defense).

Yeah, if you think Melo really took it to us with Sasha and Marquis covering him . . . oh boy.
along with those elbows that he throws around so freely!!
Melo is a better scorer than James. You really have to play him tight because he can kill you with his jumper.

But LeBron James is a better defender. We need Sasha's production on the offensive end like he did against the Knicks...oh wait.
Tonight's officials are:
Dan Crawford, Dick Bavetta, Olandis Poole
We have a decent chance, just have to stop them from getting out and running early- something we are generally good at except we give up offensive boards in doing so.
Stop hating on Sasha,it was opening night at MSG and the Knicks are contenders, he was going to get 30 points regardless of who was guarding him. If he hadn't gotten 4 fouls so quickly he could have had 50 quite easily- Anyway, Sasha will make Lebron shoot. Problem is Lebron cherry picking and going for fast breaks with his boyfriend Dwayne.
Can't wait to see our bench out there-this is our advantage, particularly when Battier is out too.
sasha is worthless. james is going to eat him alive. Sasha will get 2 quick fouls trying to stay with james

LeBron and Wade will be camped at the foul line all night.
Maybe JJJ should get a shot at guarding LeBron?
Wasn’t he defensive player of the year or something in college?
i know, it’s kind of desperate... with Pavlovic or Daniels as alternative, maybe he can get a shot.Maybe JJJ should get a shot at guarding LeBron?

And Mikki Moore was NBDL defensive player of the year. ;)

Would love to see the Celtics keep this under a 10-point loss. I think the Heat are fired up and looking forward to putting a big hurting on the C's -- Pierce or no Pierce.completely agree that the Heat will be fired up. They seem to be looking to send a message to the other top teams that they will be the team to beat this year. a 10-pt margin would be a miracle. I think less than a 20-pt margin would be an optimistic outcome.
Actually we forgot one person in a team who can effectively guard LeBron. It is Rondo - he did it couple times in last season.
JJJ would get wrecked guarding lebron. I would rather put Rondo on him. He actually has done a good job on lebron in short stretches in the past.
The key to tonight's game will be limiting turnovers. If we don't have a ton of bad turnovers, we can stop them from getting out into transition. That and seeing if we can guard Lebron

You're right, and we need to focus on transition in general though. Miami showed against Dallas they are going to make a big effort to push not just off turnovers, but even makes. They did against Dallas and managed transition buckets even off made 3's.
We can't keep up with them in the open court so we have to prevent the situations from happening where we can. This is where that Rondo "One Man Fastbreak" show he put on against the Knicks could help big time.

Someone needs to run with him though, otherwise I envision a couple of those patented chase down blocks from Lebron and even Wade that we're accustomed to seeing. Lebron usually gets Rondo at least once every time they play it seems.
I thought when those possession were broken down and for the most part they got easy shots when that happened. He didn't like being pressured with the ball, but once he's got it up the court he can abuse the size disadvantage.Actually we forgot one person in a team who can effectively guard LeBron. It is Rondo - he did it couple times in last season.
we didn't forget, I mentioned Rondo guarding Lebron earlier. I think it's a good idea considering our options are limited. For some reason Lebron seems to get frustrated when Rondo guards him.JJJ would get wrecked guarding lebron. I would rather put Rondo on him. Yeah you're right, hopefully as few as possible so we can have most of our guys stay back to prevent transition opportunities. Bass is a good choice, he has been a good finisher in transition for us and his jump shot gives us a nice second option.
Ideally you want to have multiple options on the break but I'm very worried about allowing Miami to rack up easy transition buckets.
I am absolutely terrified at the thought of E.Moore covering Dwyane Wade defensively at any point in tonight's game.
Avoid that matchup like the plague.

I would have suggested Avery, but the thought of his offense against that D is equally terrifying.
He should get some spot duty on Wade though.
I would like to see E'Twuan start over Sasha. Bump Ray to the 3 on offense and let them switch on D.
I have more faith in E'Twuan athletically, even at 6'4, than I do with Sasha.
This game has the potential to be a major blowout.

So are you suggesting having Etwuan moore guard lebron james?
Dont think that will work too well bro

As long as they don't call a foul on Marquis and Sasha every time they breathe on Lebron (like they did with Melo) we'll be fine.
LeBron doesn't leave things to chance like that, he makes sure there is violent contact. How would others deal with the LeBron v Pavlovic problem?

yes, that will happen, and I'm also sure that it won't snow at all in boston this winter

yup, and as soon as he initiates the violent contact he will grimace and cry like a baby and the refs will fawn over him like a mother over a newborn
Well, as it turns out, I'm still awake and the game is about to start (2am local time). So I'll be there, hoping for a win despite the not-promising-at-all situation (no Pierce + bad referees)!
So, how many "Trade <fill in the blank>" and "sky is falling" type of threads do you guys expect before the game is over?
I'll go with 4.

Where do you live Drucci?
I'm hoping for the best but totally expecting a loss.
A loss tonight will be completely irrelevant. I just want to see progress from those who are playing.

Well 4 on different subjects. But then you have to account for people starting multiple threads about the same thing. I'll say 10.
As for me, I'm totally prepared for a loss. We have no wing depth against one of the best wing teams in the league. A loss tonight will be completely irrelevant. I just want to see progress from those who are playing.
My level of anger toward owners and players for not amnestying the Heat P.A. guy in new CBA knows no boundaries.

I like the part where Rondo threw an oop to KG not realizing KG is too old to get up these days.
Do opposing 4's have taken a habit of shooting 3's against us? :-X

LOL this is a ****ing joke.I see the breathe on LeBron or even blink near LeBron equals a foul is happening tonight. I'm not watching, but I knew this would happen.
LeBron gets anything he wants. Im not even going to watch this crap anymore. The NBA is embarrassing.
Why do the refs hate us?
These refs suck ...but Boston is just outmatched tonight. Defense is getting destroyed.
I really dislike how they say "this is what Dallas did in the finals last year" in regard to the conference finals game. It's not the finals. It's the conference finals. It's different. Call it what it is. You were not in the finals.

Ha, who knew you were related to Stiemsma. ;)His last name is Dutch, I'm Dutch ;)
Love how the foul on Bass was called three seconds late, after he missed.Yeh, the Bass "foul" :p (I didn't see it, but I could be wrong.)
Marquis on fire!!!
I really don't like dooling's game
Good comparison, TP.Marquis on fire!!!
He has the unorthodox offensive game like Marion. That seems to give Miami problems.
Fouls are just horrid...as are the turnovers. Just killing Boston.
No...bet was Miami runs Boston out of the gym...and they will. It is close now but Miami will unfortunatly take overFouls are just horrid...as are the turnovers. Just killing Boston.
You said they would be down by 10 at the end of first Q. You owe mgent some TPs. :P
Wat do we have to do to get a call?!
Alright, cut Pavlovic. I've seen enough
He anticipated Wade would break his arm and get a no call.
A backwards layup.
That, ladies and gentleman, is the definition of "soft."
Seriously, how do they get a guy like Norris cole?Because until this year, Danny has drafted on potential, not success. Cole was a 4 year player in college and had a 50 point game last year.
I agreed with doc, I think if our D can settle in and the fouls and TOs even out, we can make a game of it. And we need more shots to fall! Here's hoping! And some calls. Bah. I'm repeating myself but these refs are atrocious.
Alright, cut Pavlovic. I've seen enough
You kidding? That was a bogus call, not Pavlovic's fault...

Is the officiating any better over in Europe guys?More consistent perhaps. Want the lockout back already, do you?
Wade kills us every fricken time
I don't know why we got rid of Tony Allen that was pretty stupid
i know everyone knows this but I just want to chime in as a reminder.
we're only down 7. dont have paul pierce. we're incorporating a bunch of new players into our system with no real training camp, while the Heat have 90% of their team back.

I guess I imagined the foul on Ray. ::)If we would have done the same play on Wade, it would have been a foul.

Well Wade would have flopped pretty bad, so of course he would have gotten the call.I guess I imagined the foul on Ray. ::)If we would have done the same play on Wade, it would have been a foul.
And this is where it gets embarrassing.I think we should just start hacking people 80s style. Somebody has to cripple either Lebron or Wade.
Who thought we were contenders for the Championship this year? ****.
Beginning to like that idea. If the refs don't allow us to touch them, go out in style and "sweep the leg".And this is where it gets embarrassing.I think we should just start hacking people 80s style. Somebody has to cripple either Lebron or Wade.

LOL.
I honestly can't believe we're so bad...this is like a nightmare.
Speaking of looking old, KG also looks like he needs a walker.
This is sad. We are an old, slow team. Changing of the guard is here.blow it up. we couldn't get through a 7 game series with any of the top teams in the east, let alone win a series against any of them.
Six or seven seed in the east at best. Boston playing scared and soft. 14 turnovers..just awful. Getting beat like they stole something...and Daniels cannot play the 3...he is a 2Sorry but we're not allowed to play hard. When we so much as LOOK at them we get a foul. How can we play hard when every thing we do is a foul?
And this is where it gets embarrassing.
Who thought we were contenders for the Championship this year? ****.
We're going to be fine this year. I'm calling it.This.
Old legs need time to get warmed up. No camp and no preseason.
Wait a month or so.
That being said, Miami is clearly on another level athletically.
Speaking of looking old, KG also looks like he needs a walker.
He tried to get Bill Walker and everyone frowned. ;)
Speaking of looking old, KG also looks like he needs a walker.
$21,200,000million done the drain.
They are just so unafraid to take it to the hoop. There is no one there to stop them...intimidate them a little bit...or even make them think twice. They just go...and convert. SMH.We can't play defense. It's like every other player on the Heat is MJ when it comes to calls. Jesus H Christ start hacking NOW.

so tired of people saying "blow it up"We don't look fine. And I'll shut up since you asked so nicely.
and get who? its not like anyone wants a retiring KG.... shut up already
we're fine.

$21,200,000million done the drain.
Really? He was critical during our championship season. And I think Wyc would throw another 21 million at some player if he thinks it'll get us banner 18.
He is still an above average defender and a very good PF. Stop blaming this team's poor performance on him.
CALM DOWN PEOPLE!!!
2nd game of a long season and we know the Heat are the best team in the league.
Its not time to give up on them, blow this team up, release people, bench people, trade people, or any of the other complete nonsense I am reading.
Come April we will have 40 something wins, be a 3rd seed and looking to play playoff basketball. Its a long season. Keep the faith.

This is really sad
If KG decides to continue playing after this season...I hope he signs somewhere else. Boston doesn't deserve him. Ungrateful lot.

so are the optimistic posters who continue to lie to themselves that this team has any shot what so ever in a 7 game series against Miami. its time for change

Remember when the celts played defense in the middle. Need help badly
These foul calls are fricken ridiculous Jesus Christ. You didn't get the memo. From now on you don't say that. It's been replaced with "Tim Tebow"

Can they beat new Orleans on a second night of a back to back?
They really should be embarrassed by the complete lack of effort on defense.
Can they beat new Orleans on a second night of a back to back?
No way this team is a three seed. No way they can beat Miami. The window is shut and this is a farewell tour
Remember when the celts played defense in the middle. Need help badly
Oh no. We don't need help in the middle. Its perfectly fine for teams to drive to the hoop possession after possession after possession at will! What we NEED is Chris Paul! An elite point guard. So what if we already have one of those ;D
At least rondo back to normal at the line
No way this team is a three seed. No way they can beat Miami. The window is shut and this is a farewell tour
You are calling this after the 2nd game of the season?
Without Paul Pierce or Mickael Pietrus?
Remind me to PM you before I play the lottery, lol....
Boston expressed interest in Erick Dampier during free agency, sources say. May want to look into Damp again. Just no presence in the middle
Still hearing Joel Pryzbilla is happy in quasi-retirement. But if I'm Boston I make some calls about him, too.

Tonight may stink, but it's not a reflection on the larger picture.
The whole thing changes with Pierce in the lineup.
He's our best player. Remove the best player from any team and they're going to struggle.
You've only got 5 guys on the court in basketball, so missing your top line guy has a huge impact.
What's the drop off from Pierce to Sasha? Like a million-billion? Is it even measurable?
So we'll take our lumps early and hope Pierce is only dinged up and not broken (you can never be sure with Ainge's injury reports).
I just wish Doc would use this opportunity to give the rookies some burn. When Pierce and Pietrus are in the lineup there will be no minutes for them at all.
fair enough. He obviously isn't the reason we're getting spanked tonight, but it shows you how important he is when everyone looks to him to rally this team.If KG decides to continue playing after this season...I hope he signs somewhere else. I'm not arguing the fact that he has declined. But he is not "useless" as Change so bluntly put it.
So, how many "Trade <fill in the blank>" and "sky is falling" type of threads do you guys expect before the game is over?
I'll go with 4.
Lets just rest RR,KG RA for the home game tomorrow... we ain't winning this game...even if we get it close which is impossible, the refs will make sure the cHeat win this one.

absolutely. those 2 guys wouldn't make a difference tonight....and in a short season boston is old and can't even keep up.
FTs at HT: 24-15 MIA
BOS fouls: 15. MIA fouls: 9
19-13 reb edge for MIA + 11 stls
Worst defensive half this group has ever played.A lot of the baskets in the second quarter were clean up/second chance buckets that not only reflect a lack of effort, but a total lack of awareness.
Just awful.
doesn't bode well when pierce had an extended vacation and still managed to come in hurt...how does that happen?

I thought he hurt it during the 1st day of practice?

Danny Ainge should be on his knees begging Pryzbilla to sign with us. He should sleep on his porch until he agrees.
Well that's what I would do.
KG really looks old on the defensive end
KG really looks old on the defensive endAgreed. That's what happens when old players start to slip...they start having too many games like KG is having tonight. They can still turn it on, but you start seeing more an more of these type efforts.
C's don't need a center, they need a time machine.
doesn't bode well when pierce had an extended vacation and still managed to come in hurt...how does that happen?
You can't put in a team defense with so many new players - and without Pierce - in a 3 week pre-season and expect to shut these guys down. Totally unrealistic.Personally I wasn't expecting them to shut them down, but maybe just box out on the defensive glass to stop the 1000 second chance pts they got in the paint would be a good start.
Heat are loaded and with the changes they've made, far better than last year. Its going to take awhile. But KG definitely looks old and we have no resistance inside - and no offense there either.
Its all over!!!!! Even our popcorn sellers and Beer Vendors Suck. Oh and our Ushers? Forget about it. Replace them all!!!
I wish we signed Shawn Williams.
I knows he's a straight up thug but he is uber athletic.
C's don't need a center, they need a time machine.
WHY ARE MOORE AND STIEMSMA ON THE BENCH?
Doc really p---es me off
I'm sticking with my 6-6 through first 12 games
2nd half starting lineup
Bradley
Moore
Quis
JJJ
Stiemsa
Its all over!!!!! Even our popcorn sellers and Beer Vendors Suck. Oh and our Ushers? Forget about it. Replace them all!!!maybe if we signed a couple beer vendors to the vet minimum they could charge less than $9 for a Sam Adams.
Am I the only one who knew what we were getting into back in 2007?
I am thankful we still have a chance to compete for a title.
We're still a top 10 team 4 years later.
I'm not horribly worried, to be honest.
Daniels is clearly not in NBA-game shape and it's showing on both ends. LeBron/Wade are eating him up with the help of the refs. On offense, he is either missing his type of shots or getting stuffed.
Pietrus would be a big upgrade, Pierce a giant one.
We are 1.5 games in. KG didn't fall off a cliff. Ray can still run and shoot. The bench is better. Pierce isn't missing the first half of the season. Rondo looks like the player we needed him to become.
The guys whining and complaining now will be the first one's changing their tune in April.
Its all over!!!!! Even our popcorn sellers and Beer Vendors Suck. Oh and our Ushers? Forget about it. Replace them all!!!

It's funny. Those of us who in the past few days predicted a blowout got jumped on. Now we are being told we should have expected. Blowout. Pretty funny.Actually you didn't, and now you're playing the martyr again....
"Chris Wilcox is out with a bruised left shoulder, X-rays were negative #celtics"good thing we have 20 shootng guards.....and 2 big men, no 3....

Would it be possible to develop 2 game threads:I felt exactly like you for the entire second half of last year, into the playoffs. After I got my heart mercilessly ripped out and handed to me by Wade and LeBum, I'm having a hard time looking past what I saw but denied last April.
1 for those who are excited to be watching the C's and who can accept a tough night without calling for a blow-up or declaring the season over.
The other thread can be for those who have already given up on the season and just like to state and restate their negative predictions. You may be correct, but I am already tired of hearing it.
We all have eyes. Miami is dominant tonight. This is Game 2.

It's funny. Those of us who in the past few days predicted a blowout got jumped on. Now we are being told we should have expected. Blowout. Pretty funny.agreed. I pegged this as at least a 20-point loss. it's not at that point yet but C's are looking pretty much outmatched because they can't hold on to the ball or get a call against Miami. if not for that flurry of 3's in the 2nd, they'd be completely buried right now.
"Chris Wilcox is out with a bruised left shoulder, X-rays were negative #celtics"Good thing I have NBA league pass. I think I'll just watch another game. See you guys at 11pm.

yeah that won't help, thankfully Chalmers is coughing it up right now."Chris Wilcox is out with a bruised left shoulder, X-rays were negative #celtics"

He won't return tonight.
When did KG become...a liability? When he hurt his knee?
wilcox hurt....pietrus hurt...pierce hurt....o neal has no pulse....looks like the white kid is going to have to playHah :]

Ref blew the whistle before LeBron even initiated contact.especially when it's not one of ours >:(
Superstar treatment is disgusting.
Bass who had 20 and 11 in our first game...is where?
Garnett hurting the team. How so? Can you break it down beyond one liners?
Bass who had 20 and 11 in our first game...is where?
leblah jimes..
Garnett hurting the team.he's definitely not the offensive player he was in 2008. Not as consistent in his jumper or in his rebounding so far this year.

This idea was floated by PLamb/Nick...but was shot down. I'm with you though..2 GTs would be nice.
Am I missing something?
Isn't it just an 11 point game?
This isn't a blowout and it will probably just be loss number 2 of about 22 or so.
I still say when we have Pierce back and the team gels some with the new bench players that we are an easy 3 seed in the East. I just don't see any other teams but Miami and Chicago being any better than the C's in the East.
Rondo for three.
Imagine that.
No really; imagine that for a while. See it.

I must admit KG is looking really bad. Terrible D, bricks on offense... I don't think he is cooked though but terribly rusty.I do feel that this team is no where near in game shape as they should be, with Rondo even bent at the waist, but that's due to the fact he's carried this team yet again.
Ths is classic doc rivers..hiding under the bench saying.."fix it kg" i got no ideas....ever wonder if young guys could cover wade or lebron...well, of course they could get there quicker, jump faster, learn and recover faster..this is what i hate about doc....he can draw up a play...but he will never play or try anything new.....sign new people....why....just pay 7 guys...that is all doc will play anyway....!Have you noticed how 10 players have checked into the game tonight?

The transition defense is the most alarming part for me.This...but I think the Heat will make a lot of teams appear to have horrid transition defense this year.

sadly the Showtime analogy is pretty much on the mark. Miami has definitely gotten all their players on the same page offensively and they're looking pretty respectable on D tooThe transition defense is the most alarming part for me.This...but I think the Heat will make a lot of teams appear to have horrid transition defense this year.
Clearly they figured out that an uptempo game with lots of shots and transition hoops is their style and I can't say I disagree.
I haven't seen a running game this effective since Showtime Magic and the Lakers.

I say throw the young guys out there.
No pressure situation, let's see what they got!
Rondo is playing out of his mind. Again.
Vastly superior athletic team against a team that simply isn't interested in defending tonight.
Pierce isn't going to change this outcome.
Put all the Young guys out there in the 4th quarter. No point tiring out the starters with a game tomorrow.

i don't care if it game 2 or mid april. boston is a middle of the road, old team now. sucks but it is what it is. they don't have any athletes other than rondo that can go with these guys....going to be a lot of night like tonight (maybe not the score) this season
Heat only shooting 70 percent. Tomorrow night will be interesting. Tired legs and probably no Pierce or Wilcox

Ray had a turnover. He's washed up and sucks.
/forumlogic
Norris Cole is pretty good for 28 in the draft
Oh my god, you know what I just realized?I hadn't thought of it like that but that's sadly closer to being true than I'd like. Ray is still the superior player but his ballhandling/turnovers and reduced offensive repertoire are towards House-like style of play.
Ray Allen has become Eddie House.
Indeed I am watching the game where I recognize that Doc has played a 9 man rotation, not a 7 man rotation like you claimed. What disappoints me the most is that Doc is (once again) not sticking up to his minutes management plan. Why are the starters still playing? We have a back to back tomorrow. Now is the time to prepare for it and give the rookies a chance.

So we should adjust our normal rotations whenever we're down by 11ish?
not so sure about that -- I think Bradley would stink regardless of how much run he could have got last yearWhat disappoints me the most is that Doc is (once again) not sticking up to his minutes management plan. agree 100 percent. the reason bradley stinks is because he didn't get any run last year....looks like this will be the same with jjj and moore
I don't think you can tell a team of competitive athletes that you're giving up with 15 minutes to play when its only 10 or so points. So we should adjust our normal rotations whenever we're down by 11ish?
meh...miami miami will keep this at an 11-15 point lead the rest of the way...no need for the starters to tread water and lose tomorrow night's game also tonight

Celtics down 8. Huh.

Celtics down 8. Huh.at least they're consistent - always against the C's. I used to think maybe I was overreacting to the refs last year but seeing the C's were dead last in FT attempts just makes me feel validated in those thoughts. (yeah, that and $2 will get me a cup of coffee)

8 point game with the whole 4th to go....
So I guess its not a blowout and I guess the rookies should stay on the bench and I guess the Celtics should actually try to win this game.
Imagine that!!!!!
yeah, he doesn't seem to have the 'it' factor good young players have when they get on the court. his D seems more to be the result of being extremely quick rather than knowing how to position himself and play D.not so sure about that -- I think Bradley would stink regardless of how much run he could have got last yearWhat disappoints me the most is that Doc is (once again) not sticking up to his minutes management plan. It's not just the zone. Going small has increased the team speed. We were way too slow with the KG/JO frontcourt.
I think we have to start viewing KG as a 5.
good things: rondo, ray and bass.I'd like to add Dooling.
Well, you don't play rookies just because they're there. NO way either one of them is ready to defend and play at the pace Miami is playing.Absolutely.
Down 8 and 12 minutes to go, we're mathematically still in it but I just don't feel this game, I just fear that Miami might go on a big run in, like, 2 seconds, and finish us off. But who knows? The zone has been surprisingly effective.Yeah, we feel pretty bad, but I'd like to gut this win out just to smash the Heat's ego.
I would hate to see Doc run the starters till the end only to lost by a few points but now you sure have to try.

Finally Got Bass going. He and Rondo need to be on court together. In fact, he needs to start (Doc?).
I'd like to too but I can't. His ballhandling, turnovers and decision making have been pretty disappointing so far.good things: rondo, ray and bass.I'd like to add Dooling.
Is Norris cole that much better than e. Moore? As I said, the heat can turn it on whenever they want. Why get out of the zone? Wow. This cole guy is good. Time to get he starters out.
Finally Got Bass going. He and Rondo need to be on court together. In fact, he needs to start (Doc?).
yep...bass needs to start....sit JO
miami seems to just toy with teams
Dooling is leading the team at +10 and has 11 points.that '+' just makes me question that stat.
7-2 just like that. the Heat are simply explosive.
Ball Don't Lie
These calls...even the TNT sycophants noted that Bavetta (surprise, surprise) blew that call. horrible. The Corpse should be forced into retirement with Crawford.
I really don't like to see Rondo play off the ball.
When Miami decides to play lockdown defense they make take really bad shots.
O'neal can't board, protect the rim, or score in the paint.
JO 0 points and 1 rebound
pathetic
After the next 2 games all the haters are gonna change their tune.
Miami is beyond talented.
JO 0 points and 1 rebound
pathetic

It's one of the ways they get him rest.
JO 0 points and 1 reboundwow....just wow.
pathetic
dear god...i dont want to see o neal nor sasha play for boston ever again
How many shots have the blocked tonight?legitimately or blocked because the refs swallowed their whistles?
15 point lead and putting the starters back in.
eeck
i agree with others . . . JO should come off the bench. I'd rather see Wilcox or Bass start.
and please dear god, no more sasha "i do nothing" pavlovic.
How the hell are we still in this game?
How the hell are we still in this game?
Wade seems to get a lot of wrist on those blocks.didn't you know, the wrist is part ball for Wade.
This Celtic team has the heart of a warrior. They might be old, but they're gnarly as they come.
They are not giving up and they are not waving a white flag.
They set a good example for how one should comport themselves.
15 point lead and putting the starters back in.
eeck
Make that 9.
Score one for Doc.
How the hell are we still in this game?
ray allen is really benjamin buttonHahaha TP.
too bad we didnt start playing this zone defense earlier in the game. seems like this really gets teh heats number because they are stuck shooting jumpers.
Dallas did the same thing in the playoffs
I love Brandon Bass, but he is no starter. He is a perfect bench guy who adds much needed scoring to a unit that would otherwise struggle to score.
He needs to stay where he is, IMO.
I love how this team is competing without Pierce.
I would start Wilcox.
Doc Rivers apoplectic on the sideline, and I don't blame him. Cole pushed off. Another missed call.
someone needs to plant Bron on those drives. no excuse for him to just get a layup like that.
I would start Wilcox.
he is hurt
Bass for President. How can people say he isn't an upgrade over Baby?Thank god Dwight wanted BBD. Maybe we can talk Dwight into wanting JO and Sasha too ;)
Bass for President. How can people say he isn't an upgrade over Baby?Because we lost a lot more over the past year than Baby, and it looks like he's not playing in Baby's place, but in Perk's.
Your screwed when a rookie is getting the calls against you.
Your screwed when a rookie is getting the calls against you.
As if having Lebron and Wade get all the calls wasn't enough, it now has to extend to the scrubs on the team?? Really???
These calls...even the TNT sycophants noted that Bavetta (surprise, surprise) blew that call. horrible. The Corpse should be forced into retirement with Crawford.
Doc's defense change turned this game around. Huge credit to him. This is nuts
3 big blown calls pointed out by the analysts on tv in like the last 5 minutes.yup. ask yourself when was the last time you heard TV mouthpieces question even 1 call in a game, nevermind several within such a short time frame.
Against all odds, Bron', Wade, the refs, we are still in this!
Doc's defense change turned this game around. Huge credit to him. This is nutsNo its not nuts. This team is this good and missing Pierce, Green, Pietrus and Wilcox.
Well played sir!!!Doc's defense change turned this game around. Huge credit to him. This is nuts
It was Thibs!
bass is so much better than baby its ridiculousI agree there..!
Norris Cole > Lebron James in the clutch
Why is no one defending Cole? WHY?! We don't deserve to win this game.
Here is an idea - maybe stop falling behind by double digits every game so we don't have to be in this position?
I can live with the strategy of make a rookie beat you. If they lose and its because Cole hit those shots, my hat off to the kid.
Its the thing to do.
Start this lineup tomorrow night. By cant we get guys like Norris Cole?
Too much by bass on that play. Good effort, but now 0-2. Beaten by the 28th pik in the draft. Please don't start Jo tomorrow night.now let's be fair. he had lots of help from the refs tonight. let's give credit where it's due

drafted. Walker, Giddens, Bradley, Allen etc. Common denominator? Wing players who cant shoot.

A random rookie beat us instead of Wade, James and Bosh. I'm strangely okay with this.

So who came into tonight thinking the Celtics were going to be killed down the stretch by Norris Cole?
Show of hands.
Wouldn't even be on the floor right now.Start this lineup tomorrow night. By cant we get guys like Norris Cole?
Hm. passed on Cole, Kevin Martin
drafted. Walker, Giddens, Bradley, Allen etc. Common denominator? Wing players who cant shoot.
This team is gonna be the team to beat when PP and MP come thru that door! We've lost to two good teams PLUS the garbage refs in close games without two guys that will be huge for us, one an all-star and one will be an important role player. I can't WAIT till we are fully healthy! I honestly believe we will come out of the East as champs!

PP starting instead of Sasha most likely would have resulted in 2 wins assuming everyone else plays at the same levels.
It is clear what needs to be done. Convince PJ Brown to come out of retirement and cut Siemesa. Convince Sam Cassell to come out of retirement. Sign James Posey and cut Pavlovic. Sign Eddie House. Bam, all will be well.
thank you rajon rondo ::) ::) team fought so hard to cut the lead stupid dumb play.
Sooooo... Rondo, JO, Bradley and picks to the Clippers for Paul?
Norris Cole getting the MVP chants...smh I can't stand the Heat jesus
he did get some help on that blatant blocking foul that was called a charge but my point is that the refs also played a big part in winning the game for MiamiToo much by bass on that play. Cole had no help from the refs. Shows what rookies can do if they play

Oh come on, the kid deserves a little love from the fans. At least it proves that not all Heat fans are like "Hey look, there's Lebron!!!"
7 turnovers total tonight and 12 in the first 2 games. But I'm sure there's no need to blame the losses on this.thank you rajon rondo ::) ::) team fought so hard to cut the lead stupid dumb play.
No need to blame the loss on Rondo. Rough time to make a mistake, but he deserves a mulligan for how well we played.
Rondo and Ray were the only reasons the game stayed honest. Dooling's incredible shooting was the only reason it got close.

What about 'Toine and Waltah?
Wish we'd given ourselves a chance offensively down the stretch. Some ugly veteran decisions there when running a set and actually defending was the thing to do. No mulligans. HAVE to make better decisions than that - on both ends - down the stretch of a close game against a good team.

Rondo hurt us at the very end. Does that invalidate everything else he did?To be honest, I think we need to stop looking for "the person that lost us the game" and start looking at why our defense just isn't doing what it should be doing.
No, but it raises interesting questions about his ability to carry a team on his back. Early results seem to be that Rondo really isn't very clutch at this stage of his career.7 turnovers total tonight and 12 in the first 2 games. He's also got a combined 25 assists and he's pushing the pace at breakneck speed to make up for our lack of shooting/offensive quality.

There's too many things wrong with this team to point to one person and say "you're it".
They should have had on Heat jerseys.A random rookie beat us instead of Wade, James and Bosh. I'm strangely okay with this.
Refs also had a lot of assists.

Sure, I just hate to see a guy who put in a flawed, but overall pretty special all around performance getting scapegoated for the loss.

I keep reading on this blog - again and again - that we have the best point guard in the league.
To get that designation, you have to play better down the stretch of big games than Rondo did tonight. He did some good things - but his FT shooting still isn't good enough, either, and his lack of defense on Cole out front hurt late, too.
No one person lost this game. Plenty of blame defensively in the first half to spread around. Bass' shot selection late wasn't great, either.
But the criticism of Rondo's last two minutes is precise and spot on, IMHO. He has to be better than that.
I certainly wouldn't want Rondo as the crunch time scorer for my squad, but he has more than enough crunch time bonafides as a distributor.Being clutch doesn't mean being a score. It means giving him the ball when the game is on the line and trusting that he can make stuff happen.

Sadly, I haven't seen this from Rondo really (and I think the problem is more fundamental than shaky free throws). He can carry your team for stretches during the game, but closing out is a different story.

why wouldnt it? It may have cost us the game or tie
If Ray had turned it over, it would be the main reason we didnt tie or have a chance to win that game...
and since Rondo is the guy, he should take most of the blame
Our guys played their butts off and left it all on the court. I have nothing to complain about on their end. I'll just say I was not at all happy about the officiating.
Why would it? If not for Rondo, we wouldn't have even been in a position to tie the game.7 turnovers total tonight and 12 in the first 2 games. But I'm sure there's no need to blame the losses on this.thank you rajon rondo ::) ::) team fought so hard to cut the lead stupid dumb play.

Garnett looks noticeably slower this season.
Especially when trying to recover to his man after defending the pick and roll or playing any type of help defense (those multiple effort type plays). Looks like KG is attempting to switch a lot more frequently (with JO) to work around the decline in quickness. Relying on his smarts to get by.
