So it doesn’t get lost:
Tracy McGrady
32-6.5-5.5 with 2.5 “stocks” on 46-38-80% efficiency, .564 TS%.
Led the league in fun/loony metrics like PER, OWS, WS/48, VORP, BPM, OBPM, didn’t see any eligible season with close to half that.
Looking at the # of players since 1960 with higher metrics in one season, TMac is 11th in VORP and BMP, 22nd in WS, 27th WS/48.
This is one of the top 25 scoring seasons up to 2010, with multiple seasons by the same player counting. Think top 15 all time scorer, but with a 30%+ assist rate.
Bleacher report, bible of bball info, lists is at the 5th best season to not win MVP, behind Wilt’s best season, MJs best season, DRob’s best season, and just ahead of Lebron and Chris Paul.
Look who’s on the article cover:
https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2699535-nba-metrics-101-best-seasons-that-didnt-result-in-mvp.amp.htmlSimply put, his peers don’t exist in this league. 2002-03 TMac is MJ.
IMO, of course.
