:'(Don't the rules allow it?

Are you talking about Red’s old tradition of smoking a cigar when a win looked guaranteed?

If so it’s because of modern indoor smoking laws, you can’t smoke indoors in public areas, perhaps China does not have that? I know places like Japan and South Korea still allow indoor smoking.

stevens should totally bring that back!

except unfortunately he's known for blowing leads at the end of games / 4th quarters

so it'd be just kind of comical more than anything

still, its pretty awesome to think about

Brad lighting up a fat stogey when they're up by 12 with 6 minutes to go.

Only to then have to choke it out and run up and down like crazy as the lead drifts away again

and then ignorantly repeating this process game after game after game after game

it'd be funny

if it wasn't true!! :(

haha

Brad should bring out one of these.

Considering he still looks like he’s about 15 years old, he could pull it off.

Because it's gross, unhealthy, and unappealing?

It is interesting though to think about how transformed society is with regard to public smoking.  When I was young my teachers smoked all day in the teacher's rooms, the KIDS (in high school) had smoking commons rooms (a daily smoke fest), my professors in college smoked while teaching.  We smoked in bars and restaurants,.... -- really no thought to how unappealing it was or how annoying it was to other customers, etc.

And of course Red lit up in the musty Garden whenever the spirit moved.  On the rare occasions that I went to games in the 70's, I remember seeing Red sitting in his section -- with cigar in hand.

I mean the biggest thing about it is that if you're lighting up a cigar courtside, you're doing so in an enclosed space where you're surrounded by other people who then have to breathe in your secondhand smoke.

Not to mention the optics of being the coach of a team of professional athletes, who are required by contract to maintain peak health at all times, openly engaging in an activity that is well understood to be very unhealthy.

My math teacher had the nastiest coffee/cigarette breath and he liked to lean right in when you asked for help.  A solid case for remote learning if ever there was one.
Yup

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
