Lazy play leads to lazy offense. Lazy effort leads to lazy defense. No effort leads to an uncalled for loss against a bad team.

Can't wait to watch them get beat by the Thunder. Got a feeling this team is going to be one that we all wonder what is wrong with the Celtics.
Not sure about that. The Thunder are 0-3 and got belted by the Kings

This will be their early motivation. TNT game. Westbrook will get in a groove.
32-12-8 isn't a groove?

too much awful basketball to start this season.  not enough effort.  guys look like they've never played together before.  too many guys having off nights every night and Jaylen hasn't had 1 decent game yet.

Hayward seems to be shaking off the rust and Kyrie has shown some signs of it but Jaylen has to improve over last season, not regress past his rookie year.  Rozier has got to play team ball instead of play for his next contract.  AND, everyone needs to get dialed in on D.

most of this is on the players but some of this is on Brad.

Well deserved loss.

Defense is fine imo.

They seriously need to re-evaluate how they play offense. I think they are bound to shoot better but it's been ugly so far, especially from 3.

Rather have these issues early in the season than later.

I know the overreactions in this game thread will be brutal. So, those of the patient mind, mentally prepare yourselves.

I'm much more concerned about the defense than you, as I think we've looked nearly as bad on that end as the offensive end.

On both ends, though, it certainly does seem to be a lack of chemistry and communication. Especially offensively, it looks just like a bunch of individuals out there who haven't played with each other before; it looks like a rec league out there.

Boston will get their best shot and then some.

I think we are spolied overall but opponents have shot 39%, 46%, 41%, and 41% so far vs the team. Hav e they been perfect? No. But, overall, their defense has been ok. I would say it has been streaky but overall their defense has been good enough to win if they had an acceptable offense, especially vs teams like the Knicks and Magic. If they are average offesnively, they win by double digits.

It's 4 games into the season. Their shots will start to fall soon and people will flip the script.

4 Magic players had double doubles tonight. I am very concerned about the defense.

This group not handling the off-season hype well at all. They think they just have to show up to win and are lazy on both ends and on the boards.

Biggest concern though is that we have guys who the hype has gone to their heads. Rozier thinks he is a 20 Mill a year starter. Brown & Tatum not getting it done defensively, Brown can't hit water from a boat, Horford thinks he is Durant, Kyrie Irving is no leader - he was so proud of "getting in a good place physically, mentally and spiritually" this summer. That's great if you are the Reverend down at the local AME Zion - but can you imagine Bird or Cowens or Garnett coming up with a comment like that during training camp ?
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

A few thoughts ...

1. Theis is really, really good at rolling to the basket, but the ball-handlers were off in their rhythm. Tatum hit him multiple times, but I also saw Kyrie and Rozier miss him several times.
2. I wouldn't be surprised if Brown was fasting this game. It's a habit of his at different times.
3. When Irving locks in on defense, opposing ball-handlers are in trouble.
4. When Brown locks in on defense, he is an all-nba defender.
5. The Celtics offense, handoffs, pick-and-rolls, secondary pick-and-rolls, off-ball movement, etc. are all way off right now. They know what to do, but they are completely out-of-rhythm with each other.
6. The defense tonight was better than they are being given credit for.
7. Tatum needs to touch the ball more as a play-maker -- not just as a finisher/shooter.
8. Horford looked like he didn't want to shoot late. He needs to shoot confidently.
9. Hayward, Tatum, and Horford had shots at the hoop that they passed up to kick it out for 3s. That is the right play sometimes, but it seemed like they could have tried to draw fouls and finish at the rim more.

Celtics have Orlando in foul trouble early in the 4th. Every play, down the stretch, should involved Tatum or Kyrie taking the ball hard to the hoop and drawing contact. This team needs to start watching old tape of Paul Pierce and what he would have been able to do in a game like this. Very frustrating loss tonight.

Not concerned at this point.  This is a collection of individually talented players who don’t yet have a feel for each other’s games... and are in a bit of a shooting slump besides.  They’ll figure it out, but it’ll take a while.

Pretty obvious this team has no idea how to play with each other. They settle for bad 3s because nobody has a clue what to do in offensive sets.

Defense and rebounding is all about effort. And the effort is not there.

Unsurprised that you made about half of this post somehow about Kyrie, lol

Wow, this team really stinks right now. Got no chemistry. Still can't shoot.
