After 7: Chicago Bulls

PG - Monta Ellis    /    Chauncey Billups
SG - Andre Iguodala   /   Brandon Rush
SF - Luol Deng
PF - Glen Davis   /   Elton Brand
C  - Joakim Noah   /   Jason Smith

Yeah BOY!

Good: The defensive backbone of Iggy/Deng/Noah. The real strength and identity of the team.

Bad (?): Davis and Rush are done for the year, and Chauncey is on his last legs, so contending this year for a title seems out of reach, considering the lack of depth. Brand and Billups likely won't be able to do much for you next year when the other guys come back.

Ugly?: When Ellis isn't hitting his shots, this team might struggle to score 80.

Agree: Defensive stalwart this team is.

Agree: Davis and Rush are done for the year, Jason Smith can handle PF duties, still need to find replacement for Rush, but for now Chauncey must have to take care of some Guard duties.

Disagree: This team can and WILL run. Iggy is a great set up man, he'll find people on the break, even if it's not Ellis.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

Tony Parker / Nate Robinson
Danny Green / Gary Neal
Joe Johnson / Carlos Delfino
Tristan Thompson / Earl Clark
Pau Gasol / Bismack Biyombo

Thoughts?  Targeting a fifth big and defensive-minded wing with my next two picks.

Need a big center. Someone with legitimate size. Real size. Physical power.

I would probably take a burly power forward too. Someone with bulk/muscle. A physical player.

Those would be my two main priorities.

Then select the best perimeter player available. The versatility of Gary Neal (OG/PG - third string PG) and Earl Clark (PF/SF - third string defensive SF) means you can pick pretty much any perimeter position and still have enough depth across the board.

Hmm.  I have somebody in mind for a power PF.  A physical C, I'd have to think about some more.  I'm effectively operating on minimum contracts, so my selection is pretty limited at this point.  I appreciate the thoughts!

Yes, I think your rotation would be strengthened considerably if you got a legit 7-footer who can man the middle and throw his weight around. Even if he's just a 10-minute guy.

I haven't seen much of Neal this season, but does he provide a different skill set from Robinson? Seems somewhat redundant.

Neal is much better off the ball and is a better shooter overall, though his percentages are down this year.

Robinson is a better creator for others in my opinion.  Better as the ball-handler off the bench.  His size limits him against some matchups, but one of the reasons I liked picking up Neal is that he can fill in the PG spot well enough when Nate's lack of size might hurt me.  Neal can play either guard spot pretty well, although I prefer him at the 2.

Tough to judge given you have two important rotation players out for the year in Davis and Rush, otherwise, lots of talent though I am not sure how well it all fits together

I guess a lot will depend on Brand at the 4, whether he'll control the boards vs. opposing PFs (who will likely be smaller, but also quicker and more athletic).

I'd look for a cheap PF (possibly on a rookie contract or a vet) who can give you a more athletic option to mix into the rotation, and another SF who can give Deng a breather/rest when he's dealing with those nagging injuries.

Here's the Rockets so far.
Chalmers/Manu (Reggie Jackson)
Harden/Manu
Chandler/Marv Williams
Nene/Chandler
Hawes/Ezeli

I'm trying to decide between adding a wing and slotting more time for Chandler/Williams at the 4, or adding a traditional 4 and keeping them more on the wing.

Thoughts?

Terrific mix for your backcourt. Those three guys are pretty interchangeable and can play well together.

I like the Nene/Hawes combo in the frontcourt in terms of spacing and offensive flow/cohesion, and Ezeli looks like a nice piece going forward.

Chandler's had his injury issues, and Marvin has his issues with consistency/aggressiveness. I suppose you should be able to get 48 minutes a night out of those two, but perhaps a steady, if unspectacular, option would make me more comfortable there.

That said, I think you might want to prioritize a rebounding/defensive PF with your next pick. Bonus points if he can play next to Nene for a different frontcourt look.

The Nets 9 man rotation is now set.  Gotta say, I really like this roster.  Good blend of scoring (inside-outside), perimeter defense, rebounding and solid bench play.

Head Coach: Phil Jackson

C: Brook Lopez / Andray Blatche
PF: Carlos Boozer / Udonis Haslem
SF: Dorell Wright / Matt Barnes
SG: Kobe Bryant / Jason Terry
PG: George Hill / Jason Terry

TP for your thoughts!  ;D

Good team. I think your forward position is fairly weak. I don't like either Barnes or Wright. Boozer will score and rebound but his defense is sketchy at best and Haslem is having a tough year in more limited minutes.

I think New York and Miami will be a problem for you in the East

A defensive center who can protect the rim would be my first priority.

Someone who can anchor a defense when D.Jordan is on the bench.

It's a nice lineup and the pieces definitely complement each other well.  Very strong team that will probably be near the top of the East.

I think your biggest issue will be ball movement, except for whichever week Kobe decides he wants to read stories about how unselfish he's become.  You may also have some problems with wing defense - Wright has never been known as a defender and Barnes plays hard but is starting to lose a step.

EDIT:  More specifically, who on your team can check LeBron or Melo?  Other teams will have a better shot at guarding Kobe than your team will defending other star wings.

An interesting mix of vet stars and young guns. I don't think it doesn't work, and I'm sure you've explored trades, but I don't know what to make of the fit.

There's a couple of them left, too.

Yeah, I think the front court defense in general is pretty weak.  Lopez blocks shots, but is generally a pretty soft defender.  Boozer is below-average as a defensive power forward (and that's when he's giving effort), and Wright has traditionally been pretty bad (although I haven't watched much this year).

There's a ton of talent there, though, and if Kobe will defer to his teammates at all, the team should be successful.

Tough back court. One guy that couldn't hit the building with a ball if he tried and another that can't spell pass never mind doing it. I actually like Felton more as a PG than Rubio.

Mid seed playoff team to me.

Your top seven (starters plus Terry/Blatche) are hugely talented offensively.

A very strong offensive ball club.

I don't think there is enough defense there to go along with that high powered offense to make the Nets a title threat though.
