If I were to ask which of the following 6 players draws the most fouls per field goal attempt - Pierce, Lebron, Kobe, Wade, Durant and Carmelo -- I am sure that most of you would answer Lebron. And, you would be right. But, I bet you would also be surpised at who is second. Here are the numbers.

Player      FGA       %fouls drawn

Lebron      1,680         17.7
Pierce        872         17.4
Wade        1,607         16.7
Durant      1,669         16.0
Carmelo     1,493         14.7
Kobe        1,625         12.8

Shocked at how many fewer field goal attempts Pierce has and how low Kobe's percentage is for drawn fouls.

I'm not surprised about Kobe. His game continues to go more and more perimeter oriented year after year.

Its impressive that Pierce is strongly in the company of those other 4 guys. Despite Pierce's many nagging injuries, the guy still has it - the combination of great offensive footwork and all the veteran tricks.

All 6 of these guys are beasts.

If Pierce is healthy, maybe he should be taking more shots. I think for a stretch he was having trouble getting to the line due to injuries. I think now he looks much better and will be a weapon in the playoffs if we need him to take over.

TP Vinnie for pulling those very telling stats.

Wow great stat, TP for sure.

What can we conclude from this?

I would have Paul try to take it to the hoop more and set some elbow screens for him to make it more possible.

Rondo -- 862 Field goal attempts, gets fouled on 11.4 percent of them. Amazing that Rondo has taken 10 fewer shots than Pierce!

2009-2010 Regulas Season:

Lebron James - Personal fouls per 48 mins: 1.9
Paul Pierce - Personal fouls per 48 mins: 3.9
Carmelo Anthony - Personal fouls per 48 mins: 4.1

How does LBJ commit less fouls even though he is a more phyical player? ...and he has missed 1-2 games this season compared to PP who has missed 10-12 games, I think, and plays less mins/game compared to LBJ. Whereas, CA commits 4.1 fouls/48 mins even though he plays in a similar manner(read physical) as LBJ.

I still feel Pierce has been getting the short end of the stick from the refs this season.

All other seasons, Paul has been getting the proper respect from the officials.

and for all you conspiracy theorists, you know who blows even lebron out of the water?

Corey Maggette, 20.7!

Must be Stern wants Maggette, the golden child of the NBA, to succeed, right? (958 FG attempts)

He is also called for 5.3 fouls per 48 mins. compared to LBJ's 1.9 fouls per 48 mins...and I know only one of these two players bull dozes his way to the basket and his first name is not Corey. Please help blow that stat out of water.

Someone here on the blog said "You can always find a stat to prove your point"...or something like that. I think thats a good point.

Got a stat to prove it?

Lebron deserves his free throw attempts numbers, no doubt. However his lack of personal fouls and techs really bugs me. ..Not to mention his freedom to travel whenever he wants.

I would have quoted the poster if I could find the post.

I disagree. There's no stat to prove that the Timberwolves are a good team or that Adam Morrison was a great rookie! :D
