how many seasons do you think he would have to play in green in order for this to be an option? DJ played in boston for 7 seasons, which is the shortest time in boston for a player whose number's retired (besides reggie who played for 6 but thats different). If KG plays out his contract he'll have played 5 seasons with the celtics. If Kevin signs another contract in Boson for atleast 2 more years, and can win atleast one more championship in that time frame, i fully expect for the big ticket to be in our rafters.

the only question is, can kevin garnett last until he's 38/39 years old? and i say OF COURSE HE CAN!

i think he would need to play for 5 seasons at a very high level for that honor to be bestowed on him.

I would say it would take five years and two championships for either KG or Ray to get their number retired.

so you dont think it needs to be atleast 7 years? i guess i'd agree. historically he will be looked upon as a big part of the celtics mystique and legacy. plus he's like best friends with bill russell.

I think the return to greatness will factor in heavily with KG and Ray Ray's chances.  I agree it would have to be at least 5 years with another championship, or maybe around 7-8 with no more (JINX).

Obviously I love both guys and I am always happy they are Celtics, but I don't know if you can retire players' Jerseys just because you like them.

well antoine played 8 seasons here and probably won't get retired becuase NO championship, but i think the championship is a big part of KG having it happen. although ed macauley's number is retired with only 6 years (missed that in my original post  :-\) and NO championship.

4 straight championships would convince me.  :)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

5 seasons and another championship is a definitly.5 seasons and continuing the current role on the team and retiring a celtic also a probability.

It means getting ahead of yourself, basically.

haha, i figured that much. but i'm not saying that we're going to retire his number, i'm asking what it would take for us to do it.
