Celtics has sign Walt Lemon 2 way deal
-
He torched the Red Claws for 40 last season, maybe that’s when he caught the eye of Celtics scouts?
-
He played with the Pelicans in summer league, and signed a 10-day contract last year. He averaged 22ppg in the D-League.
-
Played in Europe and d league
Already 25 years old.
-
He recorded a 48 inch vertical jump eclipsing LaVine and Wiggins.

Danny Ainge confirms @Shams Charania report that Celtics have agreed to terms with PG Walter Lemon Jr. on two-way deal. "Speed, strength and experience," he said.

Can honestly say that I did not see this coming

I would venture a guess that nobody on the board saw this one coming.

His numbers are exactly jumping out at me. Ok a 6'3 guard. An area that we are light in ::)

I wonder how much this makes a difference. Over the last 16 months Ainge has added 3 rookies with many years of professional experience in Europe. Theis and Larkin showed why as their experiences helped them to assimilate fast and contribute positively right away while not having to many mistakes on the court.
This team is in win it all now mode. Danny and Brad may not have the patience to babysit players 22 and younger, get them to learn how to be a professional, or develop enough to put them on the court with cinfidence they won't be a major net negative on the court.
The Celtics already have raw players like Yabusele, Williams and either Nader and Bird. They just don't need players in the 2way contracts that will take 2-3 years to develop into a end of the roster player. They need players that could jump in in case of emergency and contribute.
-
well, as an nba player he does shoot 100% from 3 point range. for his career he is 1 for 1. ;D

TP. Think this is right on point. Guys with enough skill and experience to jump in as emergency players when a rash of injuries occur. Don't want green UDFAs who didn't have enough talent to get drafted and who still need to develop skills and professionalism.
-
Ainge didn’t get a chance to draft a 6’3 guard this year so he managed to find one elsewhere. He needs to acquire at least one every summer
-
Is he a combination of Walt Frazier and Medowlark Lemon? :D

sort of like semi last year? ;D to me at least, spots 13-15 on the roster can be spent gambling on younger players, developing them to see if they turn into something good.
-
He had a sort forgettable stint in Greece playing for a second/third tier team. (Baynes had one much more successful too)
Other than the name i don"t remember anything about the guy....

Lol. TP

Lol.
He's intriguing as a third point guard, 6'3" and athletic. They say that he can be a change-of-pace ballhandler, like Larkin, but he's got better size.

Walt Frazier and Liz Lemon

this matches my alltime NCAA record for 3 PT FG% while at Emerson!
I have stumped many people with my awful bit of self indulgent trivia.

First names that came to mind for me were a cross between WALTer Matthau and Jack LEMmON. Showing my age group a little I guess.

After this signing
bringing back Smart our top priority!! (but on a budget deal for the Celtics!)
-
If Brad Wanamaker wasn't enough now we have Walt Lemon!
The Celts are signing all kinds of players I've never heard of before!

Chet Lemon was a hell of a ball player when he was with the Tigers.
215 home runs, terrific on defense....I'm sure he can help us out...?
Oh, never mind, I'm on the wrong board.
-
I ... Love ... WALT(AH)
-
I just...I can't ::) ;D.

Another pg feels a little weird.
Walt Lemon is a fun name, though. So that's nice.

I think the Celtics are covered if this doesn't work out

Red claws hype
-
Dude has some serious jumping ability. It is so nice to see the Celtics going with athletes! Instead of watching earthbound guys like Sully. Though my favorite Celtic of all time, was and is Larry Bird.
-
For what its worth (very little), averaged 13.6 points and 6.4 assists in summer league this year.
He was essentially New Orleans version of Pierria Henry, but willing to stay in the states instead of signing for more money overseas.

Pierra Henry can't touch his athletic ability.

So go back to the drawing board on that one, eh?
That being said, he is a two way with low expectations for him.

Thanks for your support. I deliberately left it open ended to see who else would recognize the "pattern". Life is full of such patterns...to those that can recognize the meaning.
Soooo, what's it going to take to get back in the good graces of TPTB on this site? A near 2 year forced "vacation" coupled with wearing a form a "Scarlet Letter" attached to my name is a bit much when you look into why this remains the case especially for someone who has much to contribute on a variety of different levels.

Geez, I didn't mean they were carbon copies of each other. They're athletic 25-year-old point guards with little to no NBA experience who could be passable 15th men on a roster. Neither seems very comfortable shooting a three; Lemon is better at dunking.

Word is Coach Stevens took the signing and is looking forward to making the most of the situation. "When Danny gives you Lemons, make lemonade.", he quipped.

The Celtics have now officially signed Walt Lemon Jr.

With no two-way contract spots left, I expect Jabari Bird to be signed by the team very soon. His tweet this morning was the grateful emoji.

They released Kadeem Allen. Doesn't that make a two way contract spot being available with Bird being able to fill it, if the front office decides not to bring him aboard on a contract.

Unless I’m misremembering, I thought they had previously signed Pierra Henry to a 2-way. (But upon googling, I misremembered, or perhaps dreamed this? It seemed so real to me.)

Correct.
Speaking of Allen, he just hooked on with the Knicks, although it just looks like a training camp deal.
