Interesting note, the Cavs are slight underdogs in this game (3 points). I am not that confident.
Somebody will get up big and the other team will come storming back. Game is tight in the winning time. You just described all Celtics games ;D ;D
Just a comment on Crowder. I think he was overrated when he was here. He certainly has been bad for Cleveland. Sick of his attitude. He looks tough but isn't (remembering the game where JR Smith intentionally flung his arm around and hit him in the face with no repercussions). Jae is really a pu**y in a tough guy body. I hope our 19 or 20 year old puts you on a poster!
This would be a nice game to get a win.
If they're not up for this one, they have a problem.
Cavs on a second night of b2b.
Celtics return from a two day rest. No excuse to lose this game.
Let's go, C's! Big game!
LeBron's finishing is so insane man
There is no way to defend that. Unless you have cloned Lebron in a lab somewhere.LeBron's finishing is so insane man
He's pretty much unstoppable in transition.
Well, at least we aren't down big early! ;D
Just trade for Kawhi and we'll have the next best thingThere is no way to defend that. Unless you have cloned Lebron in a lab somewhere.LeBron's finishing is so insane man

Three fts for Brown... guesses for how many he hits? I'm crossing my fingers for two
Jalen with the productive 1st quarter. Seems like he plays well against the cavs.
Marcus can shoot tonight!
Marcus can shoot tonight!
Yeah, wow!
Annnnddddd Wade with the offensive foul
TT is such aFixed it following his bullying of Brown.painpunk...
Rozier is showing the world he can play
Rozier is showing the world he can play
He's shown that already. He's just better in an up tempo offense rather than the half court sets the C's run.
I'm LOVING this faster tempo we're playing with tonight.

I agree. Plus train Rozier to run the backdoor cuts like AB used to run with the C's where he could prove to be deadly.
Brad should seriously run different sets with different units.
What's up with Baynes?
Ugh, come on, guys. Getting sloppy now.
you could hear brad say 'stay attached, stay attached!" to Rozier on that 3rd 3 from KKApparently Terry couldn't :D
Uh, Brad, are you really trying to guard Lebron with Smart?? Haven't we had enough of that since last year's debacle?? I'd much rather have Smart on Korver.
Smart has to be on Korver. Rozier isn't as good chasing him aroundyou could hear brad say 'stay attached, stay attached!" to Rozier on that 3rd 3 from KKApparently Terry couldn't :D

I agree. It is awesome that we can switch so much, but we need to try as much as possible to keep a taller guy on Lebron. Semi, Morris, Jaylen...no Marcus / Rozier switches on lebron
Ray Theis!
Oh..by the way, IT in orange looks so wrong..like a Vegan in a Steakhouse.
We left korver open. Where was kyrie or brownLol what? Kyrie threw a pass from the baseline that Morris caught. How was he supposed to get to Korver in the corner in ~3 seconds?
Theis Theis Baby!
I am seriously going to suggest we might need to consider doubling Lebron in transition.Hurts to do that when Korver is in
No one is even slowing him down. Gotta stop the ball, 1st rule of transition def

Here come the calls
That dumb lineup with Smart on Lebron and Rozier on Korver allowed Korver to get going. Dumb decision by Brad with all of the evidence we have of that defensive scheme not working.
Are you ****ing joking?
Blow the whistle after he misses and yells?
Lol, guess because he's a professional he's not deserving of any criticism right? Give me a breakThat dumb lineup with Smart on Lebron and Rozier on Korver allowed Korver to get going. Dumb decision by Brad with all of the evidence we have of that defensive scheme not working.
If only you were there to let Brad know. Boy then he might really be a decent coach.
Too bad.

What a move by Tatum!
Tatum doesn't look like a rookie.
I really dislike JR Smith...
Who the hell left J.R. Smith wide openWell, it was like a 40 foot 3 pt shot.

Celtics

starters - 25 points
interesting

LeBron's age really shows on man defense. He's terrible.Still gets token DPOY and All-Defence consideration. It's ridiculous
LeBron's age really shows on man defense. He's terrible. So wait he's slow on switches and man to man....shouldn't he get more fouls called on him :o
5 TPs says that the first play the Cavs run in the 3rd quarter is a play for Kevin Love.

Implying you know more than he does, or would make better decisions humors me.
Every game people are questioning him.
If anyone of them actually sat down with him, and asked why do you do these things I think you shouldn't, they would leave going, wow, I was completely wrong.
But go ahead, and think you could coach a game better than Brad.
And it leads to a Calderon 3.
That was a beautiful pass by Tatum.
"Brown to Tatum" has a beautiful ring!
It's crazy we really do look like a better team than the Cavs

So pretty much what Gouki said? Gotcha.
Let fatalism reign - Brad is now beyond reprieve, everybody. He has successfully overcome human fallibility.
Great passing this half leading to open 3s...especially impressive by the young guys, too.Agreed. Foot to the pedal. Pedal to the metal.
Let's keep pushing up this lead. I really don't want this to even be close!
Tatum needs to learn how to use his left hand on left-hand drives. He is switching to his exposed right hand at the rim and getting blocked.
Boy, Brown is having a good game. Really playing within himself. Stellar defense. Excellent passing. And rebounding the ball as good as any Celtic. He doesn't have a ton of points, but he is having an exceptional game
looks like we showed up tonight
I love brown
I love brown
Me too!

Thank god Baynes is in...the only person on the team that doesn't believe he can shoot threes. He’s OK!! Not hurt.
Celtics getting nothing good on offense. Nothing.Good looks but keep missing

For real, do you think, if you sat down with Brad, and said "I disagree with X, Y, and Z", do you think he would just say, "boy, you are right, what was I thinking" or would he say "I did that for reason A, B, C"?.
He makes the decisions he does for [dang] good reasons, and it is hilarious to me that so many people here think they could improve on what he brings and his decisions.
Seriously, can someone tell me Ojeleye's 3P% this season?

What's more hilarious is that you think coaches are infallible just because they coach in the NBA. ;)
But, no, he would absolutely have his reasons for what he does; I just think he's wrong. Just because he has a reason that he does something doesn't mean that the reason is correct.
His preference to never call timeouts in late-game situations in favor of not letting the defense set is a perfect example of this. Sure, his reasons are logical, but they're absolutely wrong - in philosophical logic this is demonstrated as the difference between a valid argument and a sound argument. Brad's argument/gameplan is valid, but it's not sound. That particular gameplan has virtually never worked for us, and it's absolutely in contradiction with his elite (probably best in the NBA) skill of drawing up ATO plays.
I cringe every time Marcus Smart or any of the Celtics are standing behind the 3-point line waiting to launch.
Keep the Cavs under 90 would be nice.

I have never, ever said he is infallible. Ever.
But acting like he doesn't do the things he does (your gripe about his TO calling), for reasons that are far far better than your reasons for wanting him to do differently, is hilarious to me.
And I say that with a lot of respect, because I agree with you on most other things, and it is just you I have this particular grievance with.
Just don't get it.
Tatum!!!
Tatum used his left hand, on a left hand drive, yay!
That is it, I am on the Jayson is a superstar bandwagon.
This kid is ludicrous.

Tatum is so much better going to the hoop than I expected him to be.
I think the Cavs have mentally checked out. Believing the back to back thing as an excuse.
Nets win!!!
Nets win!!!
TATUM AND BROWN!And another likely top pick?? AND our best player is 25 years old???

Well... family took precedence over the game tonight. My daughter's flight back to California was canceled due to the storm and we've been working on rearrangement plans....
And so -- I've missed what is looking like a phenomenal game so far from the boys in Green.
PLEASE -- give me game synopsis.... Have C's been up all game or just taking over? Who has looked good tonight?

Good balance from the C's, we have been up most of the game. Smart and Rozier doing damage in the 1st half, and Brown and Tatum keeping us rolling in the 2nd half. Love injured ankle, and we have been playing with a lot of energy. Excellent game so far except for shooting a bit too many 3's.

TP -- thanks! Cavs noticeably tired???
Semi has been beyond bad tonight.
Cavs are clearly tired on the second night of a back to back, but they've looked incredibly mortal this season when I've watched them.
I think people are sleeping on the C's as a true threat to the Cavs in the East. Even with IT back, that's only going to make their defense worse, and their improved offense won't be able to compensate for that poor D against a much more two-way oriented Boston team with elite defense. This is especially true if they continue to play Love at the center spot, which makes their D about as bad as it can be.
A convincing win tonight will do wonders for our team's mentality and confidence knowing that we can beat this team.

They look tired and old and done fer
C's are shooting lots of threes and a couple are going in.
Tatum 15
Brown 14
Smart 12
Irving 0-5 from trey

OK, his reasons are better 97% of the time. There may be 3% of the time that your ideas are better, but that is essentially always, and even when incorrect, the incredible odds in his favor, mean saying you go with what he is doing is the obvious choice.
Would you do the same thing if Popovich were our coach?
Jae 2 points
Love 2 points
Rozier 20 points.....................nice

Does Charles Barkley still think this Celtic team is mediocre?
Rozier sorta reminds me of Avery when Avery was starting to get goodYeah... Avery Bradley without the good shot selection and the premium defense. Otherwise, just like him.
Stating the obvious, but this Cavaliers team is SO ORDINARY w/o Lebron.Just don't expect them to shoot 35% next time.
He might be better at going to the hoop than Avery was and possibly a better passer and ball handlerRozier sorta reminds me of Avery when Avery was starting to get goodYeah... Avery Bradley without the good shot selection and the premium defense. Otherwise, just like him.
Because their poor shooting is totally not reflective of our defence ::)Stating the obvious, but this Cavaliers team is SO ORDINARY w/o Lebron.Just don't expect them to shoot 35% next time.
I remember when Celtics drafted low and folks said Danny was a terrible drafter.
Now he has Rozier, Smart. Brown, and TATUM, and Tatum plus another possible lottery pick.
What a haul.
Hands down executive of the year.
Wouldn't that make him not like Avery Bradley? I assume IT and Crowder got good ovations. Was there a Crowder video?
When/how did the crowd acknowledge IT since there was no video and he never entered the game?

We held GS to 88 points. Are we going to best that against Cleveland??
Under 90. One can wish.
Crowder playing garbage time minutes? Wow..
Under 90. One can wish.
IT hugging everyone including Steve Pagliuca. Wonder if Danny approached him.
Cavs hit a bit of a wall here...good news
Not a great game for MorrisI mentioned that earlier in the game. He also didn’t get a break from the refs. If he had been a little better this would have been a blowout much earlier.

I agree they shot a lot poorly than usual, but the team does look old. Couldn't keep up with the fast pace tempo all game. Certainly something to monitor as the season progresses and they play more games and log more minutes.
Really great win for us. Now we KNOW that we can beat Cleveland, and we did it handily without needing Kyrie heroics to do it.
It is amazing how much more energized we look defensively now that we've had some rest and practice time. The last several games we've looked more like the 16 win streak team than the team the rest of the season.
Also, Morris really, really helps us, even if it doesn't show up in the box score.
Really great win for us. Now we KNOW that we can beat Cleveland, and we did it handily without needing Kyrie heroics to do it.The problem is that if we thing we'll beat Cleveland by holding them to 35% shooting each game, we're in for a nasty surprise. The first half wasn't all that great (should have been up by more). Cleveland ran out of gas, but we're not going to play them on the tail end of a back-to-back in the playoffs. Trap win.

Apparently IT and Ainge had a talk behind closed doors today
The Cavs will not improve by May...the Celtics wilI wonder why you'd think this, given that the Celtics have trended down, and the Cavs have trended up so far.

Yes, and he also did a decent job defending LeBron. It’s just that we all know he is a better shooter than he showed tonight. Not a great game for MorrisI mentioned that earlier in the game. He also didn’t get a break from the refs. If he had been a little better this would have been a blowout much earlier.
I actually think Korver was the person who kept this from being a blowout. We lost him for a few possessions in the second quarter and he kept them hanging around. Morris made a couple of very visible mistakes and didn't shoot well, but he also did some good things tonight. His willingness to screen is an underrated quality on offense.

Yup, and it looks like the Cavs are slow and old. How are they going to make it to May?The Cavs will not improve by May...the Celtics wilI wonder why you'd think this, given that the Celtics have trended down, and the Cavs have trended up so far.
I will go out on a limb and say because Celtics have more youth.
They look slow and old every year then they start trying in the playoffs and blow everyone away.Yup, and it looks like the Cavs are slow and old. It is, and Rozier is not all that great.Well defense is part of the game tooWouldn't that make him not like Avery Bradley? I see a lot more Jordan Crawford here than Avery Bradley. He might be better at going to the hoop than Avery was and possibly a better passer and ball handlerRozier sorta reminds me of Avery when Avery was starting to get goodYeah... Avery Bradley without the good shot selection and the premium defense. Otherwise, just like him.
Minus Kevin Love and Isaiah Thomas.
Fair point about the playoffs. This Cavs team, without IT, went on a long winning streak recently. IT is a clear defensive liability. I just think we’ve seen their best, until the playoffs. They look slow and old every year then they start trying in the playoffs and blow everyone away.Yup, and it looks like the Cavs are slow and old. Love played half a game and IT was out. It was the back end of a back to back too.
Great win, but that Cavs team barely resembles the squad that we may see in the playoffs
Bradley's defense was surely overrated, and he's better than Rozier regardless. Rozier doesn't defend multiple positions, isn't particularly adept in staying in front of his man, and is more flashy than fundamentally sound because he likes playing the passing lanes. Which I guess is still something, but to me his defense is like his offense: largely cringe-worthy with an occasional spectacular play.It is, and Rozier is not all that great.Well defense is part of the game tooWouldn't that make him not like Avery Bradley? Defensive metrics really like Rozier this year. His consistency needs to improve, but he's capable of being a very good defensive player.
Also, IMO Bradley's defense is overrated.

I have been seeing this everywhere and have no idea what it means. Care to elaborate?

And, I didn't know that off hand.
my but Crowder is so regular
Ive seen a lot of people suggest he was top 10 and if you fudged a bunch of guys positions you could make an argument that at his best he was close.Quotemy but Crowder is so regular
Honestly, there were people in this forum last year that thought he was a top five small forward, I hope the absurdity of this has sunk in, now.
How about that leadership from LeBron last night not even playing in the fourth and sitting and willing his team to victory? Let the excuses begin..
Top 5 seems insanely high. I don't think anybody had him above Hayward or George, let alone the other few small forwards just below him.Ive seen a lot of people suggest he was top 10 and if you fudged a bunch of guys positions you could make an argument that at his best he was close.Quotemy but Crowder is so regular

Dont think I saw a single person say top 5.

I watched the game again, and it seems to me, Brad has figured out how to beat the Cavs. Other than Lebron, they are very poor one on one defenders, so we were just taking guys one on one and driving past them. Not nearly as much ball movement as we usually have.
It worked.
