How has Louis CK, the "comedian's comedian", not been mentioned yet?  Watch his standup at the Beacon Theatre on Netflix now, he is up there with the greats.

Sometimes I don't really think of comedians. I think of characters or teams. I guess there's a difference between a comedian and a comedic actor

Jackie Gleason and Art Carney
Eddie Murphy
John Belushi
The race draft
Steve Martin
Dick Newhart
Sarah Silverman when she told Joe Buck they should give pitchers cocaine as a reward
Chris Rock's n word bit
Richard Pryor's appearance on SNL
Bill Cosby
Andy Kaufman
Denis Leary
Dana Carvey had his moments
Gallagher

I just realized something random.  Between Pryor and Rock and Chappelle and Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin (in the Jerk) it's kind of interesting that racial humor has been some of the best and most well received.

Just finished watching the jerk for the 100th time. One of my favorite comedies.
Still don't believe in Joe.

Just finished a couple of George Carlins books. Class act!

I dunno if the humour translates but seeing as it's St Patrick Day.  . . try Tommy Tiernan. Whatever clip you pick will not be safe for work/home/anywhere.  . .
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

I definitely like the guys I grew up with;

Steve Martin
Rodney Dangerfield
George Carlin
Richard Pryor
Redd Foxx
Bill Cosby

Later

Eddie Murphy
Dennis Leary
Chris Rock

Ron White has made me laugh really hard at times

Even Gilbert Godfrey gets me going sometimes for his ability to just go places that shouldn't be gone to.

And of course, Henny Youngman & Buddy Hackett for the quick jokes that are ageless.
Yup
