Do you think it's possible he can win the Most-Improved Player award?

That would go to Sanders, Hickson or Greivis imo.

I still see Harden as a lock, but those are all great options.  Jrue Holiday and Omer Asik too.

I was thinking the exact thing yesterday. I believe he has 17-18 games with 15+ points. That's great for a bench player.

But bigger names will win out

Not that points scored are the only measure here, but Jamal Crawford has 30 games with 15+ points and JR Smith has 34.

No.  His play is close to what it was with the Thunder.

points wise, yes he is averagine about what he did with the thunder.

but right now he is doing it in Fewer minutes/Fewer shots per game at a higher Field goal percentage.\

he's been shooting 53% over his last 10 games

He'd get my vote.

He's been up and down while he got his legs under him, but here lately?

He's been Super 8!

And he got to 20 pts, lol...

Not every player goes through something like this:

And then, goes to do THIS:

As he keeps up this level of play, I'd hope that he is at least mentioned as 6th MOTY.

Well, first we must win some games and then we can talk about it...but if he continues to play like this...

I think everyone is overlooking the fact that we are a 7 seed currently.  6th man award winners are typically picked from the top of the standings.

If Jeff Green, Manu Ginobili, JR Smith, Jamal Crawford, and Kevin Martin all have similar impact, the other 4 will get more votes by virtue of being on a better team.  Unless we go on a 29 game winning streak to close the season.

I think Brook Lopez has improved more than Harden.

On a per 36 minute basis, even with the recent uptick in Green's play he is at EXACTLY his career averages. Except for slightly worse rebounding, anyway.

His play has improved within the year, but for the year overall he has absolutely no case for Most Improved. None.

In fact if there were an award for "Most Consistent," he'd have a much better case for that.

He is close to 100% now, and you can see the difference. I think he can improve a bit, but sixth man of the year will go to a western conference bench player (Crawford probably).

I couldn't care less about that kind of award. I want Jeff to be Finals MVP Cedric Maxwell style. But any Celtic would do for me  :P

Boris,

That is simply not true.  For January and February, Jeff is shooting over 50% from the floor and he has never been above 45.3% for any other full year (granted it is not a year).  He is also shooting around 40% from long range and his highest 3-point % was 38.9% and he averaged about 32% over those years.  I truly think we are seeing a NEW and IMPROVED Jeff Green.  He has NOT maxed out his potential IMHO!!!

What I said is 100% true. Check the numbers.

You don't win the award for how you did in your best month or two, you win it for your performance over the entire year.

And, if you're going to cherry-pick months I will too. In February 2009 Green averaged 20.5 ppg, 9.5 rpg and 2.7 apg while shooting 46% overall and 41% from 3-point land. For January and February of that year he averaged over 19 points and 8 rebounds while shooting 44% from 3-point land.

Was that a true measure of his ability? Or was it the months much more recently in 2013 when he was averaging barely 40% from 2 and 30% from 3, while giving us terrible rebounding numbers?

I'm not saying he hasn't been playing well lately, but that simply isn't substantial enough of a sample to say anything about whether he's "improved."
