"I know that when he (Baynes) opted in to this contract about a week ago, the goal for him was to try to find another team that Danny maybe would move him to another team or maybe has a bigger role."

It's starting to look bad for us. That sounds like another guy wanting out. Wonder about Hayward now.

I find this highly doubtful that when Baynes opted in, he discussed finding a team with a bigger role for him.  The highest two MPG in Baynes career cane the last two seasons in Boston.  His shot attempts per 100 possessions was 14.3 compared to 14.4 for his career.  He’ll turn 33 this season and has been on 3 teams in his career, who all used him about the same.  There’s no bigger role for him out there.

I don’t know who floated this story for what purpose, but I’m extremely skeptical.

Yeah, good points here. That story doesn’t pass the smell test.

After seeing the link I was skeptical, and these points only really further my skepticism.

Doesn’t matter what Hayward wants. His trade value right now is zero.

lol Exactly

He's under contract and at the max. He has no way of forcing himself out

Have you guys missed the last few seasons? Regardless of a guy's value or contract if they want out they have forced it to happen. And his value being zero is the problem. If a guy wants out you usually at least get something back, that's not likely with Hayward.

Not sure the relevance of Hayward on this topic, but if he did want out, we’ve clearly seen many players force their way out when they didn’t want to be there anymore (while still under contract).

I doubt this would be the case with Hayward, but the league is shifting towards letting the inmates run the asylum.

Players force their way out when teams are scared to lose them for nothing when they only have one year left on their deal.

Boston believes a lot in Hayward, but they definitely are not terrified of him not exercising his player option and entering FA.

The only clarification I needed (eff bspn, I can't believe you people watch that garbage) about Baynes was the 1st round pick coming to us courtesy of the Milwaukee Bucks. Thank you for the 30th pick in the draft. Here's to hoping Giannis doesn't get hurt or we'll be picking around 20, unless he gets hurt early in the season and misses a big chunk. Then thank you for the lotto pick.
