  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
Four-time All-Star guard Kemba Walker has agreed to a contract buyout with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and upon clearing waivers, plans to sign with the New York Knicks, sources tell ESPN.

Love it for NY. Fantastic signing.

I was just wondering who could the Knicks get to start at PG to round out their ball club. Well done! Kemba is a huge get for them.

G: Kemba, D-Rose
G: RJ Barrett, Quickley
F: Fournier, A.Burks
F: Randle, Toppin
C: Mitchell Robinson, Noel

Gotta say, that is a much improved team over last year with the additions of Kemba and Fournier to a team that was offensively challenged last year and relied on out-working out-hustling tired opponents during a hectic schedule (that was unlikely to repeat, work as well, this season).

Some good young talent with RJ Barrett, Quickley and Toppin who could show improvement also. Further enhancing the Knicks chances next season.

Huge signing for New York. That team is really solid.

Crazy off-season for Kemba. Glad he won't be in OKC, doesn't deserve to rot there

Well, that's terrible for us and great for us.

Glad to see OKC wasn't able to land any additional assets from Kemba. That contract is a killer on the books for sure. However, totally unfair the Knicks get to sign our [very talented] guy for seemingly nothing

Kemba going to the fountain of health this year and just gonna torch the Cs

Also, the Knicks have a better team than the Cs right now.

Clears the way to start Josh Giddey and SGA together in a big backcourt for OKC.

I would have liked to have seen Giddey start at SF alongside Kemba and SGA in the backcourt though. Give them three ball-handlers / playmakers. Create a highly dynamic offense where you do not know where the point of attack will come from. Also allow Giddey to start slowly with less pressure.

Now it'll be Giddey and SGA but little else alongside them in the frontcourt. So everyone honed in on SGA and Giddey forced to be the release valve from Day One. Straight into the deep end. Sink or swim.

The net is Al Horford and Josh Richardson for that first round pick we gave to OKC.  Kemba ended up yielding nothing for OKC, just a buy out.  I am surprised but it worked out well for the Celtics.  We'll see what Kemba has left in his knees.  I wonder what the contract with NYK will be.

Bitter sweet.  Sweet that we got assets for him.  OKC obviously tried but could not.   Bitter because even the Kemba of last year makes the knicks as good if not better then the Cs because their depth is much better then ours.

I hate they C's are putting all their eggs in the FA basket for 2022.  Of course there could be colluding by Beal and Tatum which this obviously looks like but Beal can change his mind and the C's are left trying to sign Aaron Gordon or going through another bridge year towards Brown and Tatum wanting out.  Hopefully one of the young guys steps up in a way that makes them exceptionally valuable.

So not one team was willing to give up any assets for him. Huge buyout, wow.

We were lucky to get rid of him then.

Disagree.  That team is pretty clearly behind Milwaukee, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Miami and I believe is clearly worse than Atlanta and Boston.  I wouldn't be surprised if Indiana,, Toronto, and Charlotte were all better as well.  They are deep so they may have a decent regular season record, but that team is far more likely to miss the playoffs than win a playoff series imo.   Their best player, Randle, May not even be a top 30 player in the sport.  That just doesn't cut it
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I don’t think Kemba starts over D-Rose. Thibs is going to hate his defense. Could see NY using him as a spark off the bench. He’s like a Lou Williams type at this stage of his career.
