Gotta get that money

Never understood why some thought he would opt in instead of securing a long term max deal this summer. Teams have lined up to pay injured stars in the past so why not Kawhi? He doesn't need to prove his health. He can get paid now.

Where do we think he ends up?

Some dumb GM will pay a player that will ruin his team by not playing and not talking. Hard pass!!

I apologize for making this topic, I should have just placed the tweet under the “NBA trade rumors/FA signings 2021” Thread.

I blame it on my posting hiatus of a couple months. Gotta shake the cobwebs off.

He is gonna stay with the Clippers but I think it is unlikely he plays next year.

It would be awesome to see Kawhi in Miami next to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Tough minded Big 3 to take on the soft Big 3 in Brooklyn.

Doesn’t he make more $$ by signing for one year and then can lock in a long term max contract?

Now he can sign a 35% deal with max raises with the Clippers.  And he will — 3 years plus a player option.

But he's also a top-10 player who contributes to winning...

It would be awesome right up until we played them!

[dang]! I was kinda hoping we'd go after him in the 2022 free agency. Oh well. I guess Beal ain't half bad either. :P

That team would be scary!

He's definitely worth that kind of money as far as his talent goes, but I don't like the idea of paying so much for someone who's probably going to miss a third of his team's games—in the name of "load management"—and then still be likely to get hurt in the playoffs.

He's basically played the same amount as Jaylen Brown has over the last two seasons. "Miss a third" is exaggerating a lot.
