I know nothing about him other than what I’m reading now.  I love what I’m reading.

Anything that hurts the Nets is doubly good.

You know, I’ve always wondered how much being on a rival’s team mattered when trying to get free agents or even a coach. Certainly there has to be some advantages to knowing the other team’s sets and fundamental philosophy.

Though I imagine that between scouting and the amount of crossover between teams now there’s little that isn’t known already.

One thing that is becoming apparent, if Brad sees an opening as the President, he’s attacking and getting what he wants. He traded the team’s highest paid player and hired a head coach, all before the start of game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Brad Stevens, as the President of Basketball Operations, is a straight up gangsta. I can’t wait until this off season during free agency, to see what he does next.

On paper it looks like a good move.  Time will tell.  I do like that they identified their candidates and completed the process relatively quickly so they didn't end up scrambling when other teams started filling their openings.

I agree. Brad has been very decisive.  Doesn't hem and haw.

Brad as an executive = Pitino 2.0
this post makes no sense unless you are saying the hiring of udoka fits with what pitino would have done....which he wouldn't have since he was both front office AND coach.

please post better.

You mean the sets which consist of giving Durant the ball and getting out of the way?  Not sure we needed to hire Ime to learn those!!

Hold players accountable. Play the guys that play hard. Take no crap from these horrid Refs. Run a ton of pick and roll. Run, Run, Run.
Maybe him being an ex-player and being with Pop means he'll be inclined to work the officials a little bit which I've always felt was one of Brad's shortcomings.  In a tight game or playoff series, it can make a difference.

That was on Nash and D 'Antoni

Without Harden ... there was more of that Iso stuff more Durant.  And he ran out of gas at the end

The truth is none of us know how this will turn out. He’s never been a coach.

Does he come from a good coaching tree? Yes.

Is he defensive minded? Yes.

Is he a former player who can seemingly connect with current players? Yes.

Does he speak to the challenge and aura that Boston is diversity-averse? Yes.

He sounds like the right coach. Time will tell.

But what I will reflect on is that Brad seems decisive and quick to act when he has conviction on making something happen. From this standpoint, I’m pretty excited. As a coach he couldn’t figure out how to call a timeout!

HE is a defensive specialist.  Our team offense was awful last season in terms of cohesive team play. Coming from the Spurs system is a big plus for sure.

I hope he hires a really good offensive guru to assist him.  Like Phil hiring Tex Winter.  Someone special.

So glad Brad was thorough yet moved fast.

Time to start thinking about more trades!!!

And FA signings.  When can we officially talk with Fournier about a new deal?

And don't take that 45th pick lightly!!!

First two moves Brad makes are

(a) trading away the highly paid star guard who is a liability on defense

(b) hiring a Popovich disciple whose main focus is on the defensive end

I think it's safe to say Brad was REALLY frustrated by the defense being so bad last year.

By all accounts seems like a great choice. Looking forward to seeing how the team take's to him, he's inheriting a great roster despite all of the turmoil.

That team USA experience is a real plus, if all goes well Udoka should have a positive impact on our recruiting.

Welcome to the team Coach Udoka!
