There is an NBA player at 45:

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/nba-draft-6-players-who-could-be-steals-in-the-second-round-162956383.html

When they compared RaiQuan Gray to Grant, I  looked up his vertical and is standing is half an inch more than Grant and he is taller by two inches.    To me that is a big warning sign.   If a guy does not have at least average NBA  standing vertical leap of 28"  then I think we should avoid them.   Their ceiling is much lower than an athlete guy's overall.  Now there are guys who can play that can't jump of course, but is a good predictor of athletic power and explosion

I do like JT Thor.  Who had a 31.5" vertical and is 6-9 and an athlete and Greg Brown is an either better athlete with a 34.5" standing vertical and is also 6-9.  Long reaches too.

https://www.nba.com/stats/draft/combine-strength-agility/?sort=POSITION&dir=1

I think skills you can teach in some cases but you can't teach athletic ability.   I still love Jericho Sims is he is there when we pick.

Interesting that the good one (Jordan) was a 2nd round pick the the bad one (Thomas) was an early pick.

On a related note, I remember watching that draft in being PO'd that when they announced J.R. Freaking Giddens instead of Jordan. Usually I am wrong but unfortunately I was real right on that one.

That one was painful. Similar to how I felt when we picked Fab Melo over Draymond Green I imagine :(

So did I to an extent. Thought it was going to be him vs Josh Smith replacing Timmy, Dirk and KG. Oopsies

Jason Preston is another guy we could get at 45. He's a shifty point guard with good size, shooting, and passing.

The Athletic has a terrific write-up about his background.  He averaged 2 points per game in high school, and had started trying to make it as an NBA blogger for a Pistons fan site.  Then he had a growth spurt after he graduated high school, went to prep school for a year to get scholarship offers, and made his way to a D-1 program, and kept on taking off.

Isaiah Todd as a second round option seems highly unlikely, at least given his agent’s draft strategy.  Per Shams:

Quote
G League Ignite Draft Prospect Isaiah Todd is canceling workouts with teams owning late first-round picks — such as the Jazz — because he has focused on visits with teams with lottery picks, sources said.

I mean he could very well fall to the second round if no lottery team selects him

With OKC, Knicks , and Rockets all having multiple 1st I would bet money that his agent has a safety net with one of those teams. The rockets taking Green at #2 and Todd at #23 would make sense for them.

The Athletic put out a 2-round mock today that has the C’s taking Daishen Nix at 45.  Would not be my favorite pick, personally.

No 2-round mock from Givony in some time.  Last year he had the Celtics picking Yam at 47 for multiple mocks, so keep an eye out for when he drops his mock presumably in the next few days.

If Makur Maker was still there at 45 I'd take him. He's a swing for the fences pick. There are many good prospects in the second round of this draft it will be very interesting who will rise and who will fall. There is going to be a solid value pick hanging there at 45.

He projected Yam to Celtics? Wow.

Yeah, it’s the only reason I knew who Yam was prior to the draft, because I’d looked up the random Euro player we were mocked.
