Who's the other starter?  If it isn't a PG, then I'm p---ed.

Joe Johnson...Wade's probably going to play the point.

Why would you want to start a point guard when you have three ball handlers + passers/playmakers with the quality of Joe Johnson, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James?

All of those guys can play the point at an extremely high level and will be very effective sharing the duties.

It's by far the most effective perimeter combination that they could have chosen.

Plus, its the all-star game.  Pretty sure there's no obligation to have a PG and a SG out there starting.  Just two guards.

Give both rosters identical rosters at the big man + bench positions ... which team is going to win?

Team A -- LeBron + Wade + Johnson

Team B -- Rondo + Wade + LeBron

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Rondo definitely deserves to be there, but not as a starter. In all honesty I'm just hoping Rondo doesn't allow hack-a-rondo or the sag off defense to happen in the AS game. That would be truly embarrassing. If it does maybe it'll be extra motivation to get him where he needs to go.

If you're looking at lineups, yes.

I always view it as who's having the best season at their position of PG/SG/SF/PF/C.

KG does mess that one up though  :(.

As much as I love Rondo, it would pretty much be a slap in the face to everybody else in the East to have two Celtics starting in the All-star game, when they are slumping like crazy. By starting JJ, at least you get another player from a top team in the starting line-up.

Yes, since Atlanta is a full half-game ahead of us...

Team B, because Wade and LeBron will get more/easier shots. Plus, in an all-star game, Rondo could get a ton of steals.

no one plays defense at the all-star game - its just an offensive display for the fans. So I don't expect either of those "scenarios" to be an issue.

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle

Really. Have we ever seen a Hack-a-Shaq all-star game?

  • You know my methods, Watson.
who cares?  this all star game will be a joke...  if that's your thing, i totally respect that.  but personally i think they're a waste of time.

i once heard somebody say something i totally agree: "most all-star games are such that everybody complains about who does or doesn't get in...then most don't even watch them."

the only all-star game i like to watch is baseball - they've got something riding on it and actually play hard.  in basketball they never play defense, same as in hockey.  in the nfl they don't even like to breathe on each other.
"It was easier to know it than to explain why I know it."

It's being discussed in another thread already.
