Mod squad (Boston) picks Pau Gasol

See, this is what I'm talking about.  Really good pick.  If somebody had taken Gasol with the 5th pick of this round, would anybody have blinked?

Stop. Jefferson is by no means a good defender but he's no worse than Dirk, you have Gasol to off set his defensive woes. I didn't draft Jefferson to play defense. His offensive skill set was more appealing to me with Harden already on board. And last time I checked, we got 11 more rounds of this thing. I'm pretty sure I can find some defensive minded players to round out my roster.

Now get off my boy Big Al's back.

Dirk finished last season giving up a whole .1ppp less than Jefferson. That's good to rank Dirk 218 spots ahead of Jefferson.

That's one of the other guys I looked at for 2.10.  Great pickup this late.

Nope, a healthy Pau could easily be a first round pick

Agreed. I considered making the Gasol/Gasol front court

Also...

The Thunder were ranked third in the NBA for Defensive Efficiency (Pts Allowed per 100 Possessions).

Who are the top teams you might ask?

1) Indiana (Hibbert)
2) Memphis (Gasol)
3) OKC (Ibaka)
4) SA (Duncan)
5) CHI (Noah)
6) BOS (Garnett)

I think he's a better/more important defender than you give him credit for. Keep in mind that having an elite shot blocker changes the mentality of offensive players as well. In effort to not being stuffed, they tend to take outside shots/floaters which are in turn lower percentage shots.

Awesome pick for Boston, The Irving/P Gasol tandem might be the best "value" tandem in the league given where they were selected.

And the talent is still heavy through the end of next round. There are 3-4 players that I could easily have foreseen going very early in the 2nd round that are still on the board.

Pau was on Washington's list for 3.1. Curse you Mod Squad.

He wouldn't've made it past me, even though a Kobe/P Gasol combo might bring back too many unpleasant memories to get much support around here.

Another good value pick.  Randolph gets it done in the post.

Looking back at Yoki's trade, who would you rather have:

Lillard/Gay/Monroe

or

Harden/P Gasol

For me the answer is easy. I would rather have Harden/Gasol and have the patience to see someone drop in my lap at the end of the 3rd like gasol and a couple of other players have dropped in this round.

Harden/Gasol, and it's not even close.

Gasol-Gasol front-court would be beastly. I love watching Euro-players for their passing/shooting ability. They play like the best old-man/pickup style basketball players around.
