It doesn’t surprise me — nobody does — but it’s disappointing.

NBA is cracking down on this lately! First Ayton and now Collins. That, plus reporting the real height of players is a refreshing change, and looks to be a response to some of the longstanding criticisms of the league. Now let's see if they can stop with the superstar calls.

It could be coincidence (players using over the summer and not getting it out of their system in time), but I wonder if there is an actual crackdown going on if it’s related to the NBA’s agreements with sports books?  The gambling industry lives for data, so I would be surprised if that wasn’t the impetus behind reporting real measurements.  Likewise curtailing PED use could be important to the gambling industry — boxing, MMA, and horse-racing are heavily bet sports that have relationships with gaming commissions, and those athletes are tested pretty rigorously.

Why would you hope for that? That would be devastating for the league.

Interesting, looks like the drug he got nailed for - Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-2 (GHRP-2) - mostly serves to improve lean weight gain, partly by stimulating appetite. He's trying to bulk up his frame and cutting corners.

So if they're cracking down, the conspiracy theorist in me says there's a method to their madness.

Wilson Chandler - minimum contract role player, probably had one foot out of the league already.  Suspended 8/29

Ayton and Collins - up-and-coming future All-Stars, suspended 10/25 and 11/5.

Based solely on these 3 suspensions (out of 450+ players), and with my tin foil hat on, the NBA started their crack down in tiers.  Bottom of the league (fringe players, role players) first, up-and-coming young players next, and then eventually stars and superstars.  Got to give those guys at the top plenty of warning and a chance to get it out of their system.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Well I don't think its related to the league caring that sincerely about the players' health, so it could be what you're saying.

He has been more explosive on defense this year, small sample size and all, some impressive blocks too imo

Phew, thank goodness! All good now, that's that. Let's put this ugly mess behind us...
