what do you guys think?

It's pretty close.  Simmons looks like he has taken another leap.  But still can't shoot 3s/mid range.

Siakam has a nice motor but imo still too streaky.  Jumper work in progress.

So my choice is Tatum.  Definitely some wrinkles to his game that needs ironing out (keeping it more simple)  but he has that special ability to make clutch shots.

Siakam is 25 Simmons isn't a forward.

I'm a Homer and didn't bother reading your post just the title. Tatum by default.  ;)
ok fine

What is your reasoning?

Did you see the game last night (Raps vs Bucks)

Siakam was pretty bad.  Not saying Simmons/Tatum don't have off games ,but Siakam can't be relied on clutch situations

Seems like a very good #2 or #3  type player

Siakam. His combination of defense, passing and scoring (yes his scoring is on another level compared to last season) is incredibly rare for a PF.

And neither can Simmons, cant afford to have him on at the end of games. You saw how we neutralized him in the playoffs

1) Simmons
2) Tatum
3) Siakam

All three will be stars in this league for years to come. I put more stock into future production rather than where they are currently (Tatum would be at #3 if that were the case). Simmons may not be able to shoot effectively, but he affects the game in so many ways and he plays so effortlessly. Tatum's ability as an all-around scorer is going to be huge for his size. And Siakam seems to have learned a lot from Kawhi.

Are people supposed to make their decisions about the better/best player based only on one game?

If the answer is no then why ask if someone watched last night's game?

If the answer is yes, then don't expect much people responding as most people don't make decisions on who is a better player based on one game.

If you are asking who is the  best right now its probably Siakim, Simmons then Tatum. But tatum is 4 years younger than Siakim s maybe he has more upside. Thin think Siakim is better defensively than Tatum is likely to be.

I would go:

1) Siakam
2) Tatum
3) Simmons

For all Simmons strengths, the total absence of a perimeter game in today's NBA devalues him greatly. He can't shoot free throws, he can't even attempt 3s, and he commits a lot of turnovers.

Great thing for us as Celtics fans, Tatum is 4 years younger than Siakam, and almost 2 years younger than Simmons.

As of today Tatum is third, Simmons second Siakam slightly ahead of Simmons. And I could be convinced to reverse Siakam and Simmons.
Tatum has the potential to catch up but I don’t ever see his defense getting him there.

Tatum is not a hybrid forward. I don't think the Celtics have a hybrid forward.

Tatum is a true small forward that plays power forward, but it's not ideal. Siakim is a power forward that has developed small forward skills. Simmons is a point guard in a power forward's body with a power forward's shot.

They all play different roles, regardless of how you name them. Simmons is a point guard. Tatum and Siakim play somewhat similarly.

1) Siakam because he's the one who's game most easily will mesh with other star talent, particularly another star player at or above his level, which is needed to win a title.  He's probably the most versatile of the bunch.
2) Simmons because he's the one who will be the easiest to construct a supporting cast around.  He can positively impact the game with his defense and passing, which enables other players to excel around him.
3) Tatum is great but his best asset is 1-1 scoring, which I only want to be the case if you're a top 3 NBA player at that skill which Tatum isn't yet.  He's not elite at any one thing yet to really build a team identity around him.

Ditto
There is no hybrid in tatum’s game, he is a SF, and why can’t people say that the starters are now more of a PG, SG, SF, SF, C, or PG,SG,SF, PF, PF
