The guy tried to contest a 3-pointer and landed so awkwardly that his tibia bone snapped in two. Scary. Prayers to him, his teammates and family.

Poor guy, nobody deserves this. The last time I got this scared was when Pietrus and Quisy had their neck injuries..

When you lose, the easy part is to see who gives up. Giving up is very simple. You basically take your stuff and walk away. To continue to work and to continue to compete is one of the most difficult things, especially when you really don't have anything - KG

That happened to an Indiana player in the tournament 10-15 years ago, going up for a layup. I think his name was Sherrod Wilkerson. Bummer.

Brutal...easily the most gruesome basketball injury I've ever seen. This stuff doesn't usually bother me but that was hard to watch. Hope he's alright.

From the pics and vids I've seen, the way his leg was dangling, it had to be both the tibia and fibula, though the tibia was protruding.

I think there is an overreaction to this. People in the ER see this stuff all the time. Broken bones only take like 2 mos in a cast to heal as opposed to something like a torn ligament.

Pitino said it was going to take him a whole year to recover from it.

I wish the kid a full and speedy recovery.  I'm not exactly  a L'ville fan, but watching them rally around Ware in the second half was impressive.

I am so glad that they didn't show the replays on the broadcast after the initial realization of how bad it was. Blood-curdling stuff.

It's a basketball game though, not the ER. No one expects to see something like that when they go to see a game.

I dont know if its ok to post this, but ill link it and warn you it is very graphic

this is a high def picture of his knee, and its worse than i thought. It is an open fracture of the tibia, so HIS BONE IS STICKING OUT of his leg. You can even see the bone marrow.

As a kid, you hear about someone "breaking their leg" and assume it would look like this. This is the first time I've actually seen a legit "broken leg" that lives up to my gruesome childhood fears (aside from pictures from wars and things of that nature)
