Id say the sequels so far strengthened my appreciation for the prequels. They were wonderfully made movies that actually took risks and created compelling environments befitting a space fantasy.

I like the sequels a lot but so far they remind me of those refrigerator magnet poetry sets people used to have - they keep taking the same basic elements and just kind of reshuffling them to build something "new". Like how Last Jedi borrowed heavily from Empire then had a remix of Return of the Jedi's throne room scene, complete with the hero viewing the destruction of the rebel fleet while the bad guy taunts them, but now they get to fight the cool looking red guys too!

The prequels definitely didn't do that. They were their own animal. It's just that a lot of the differences were not improvements to me.

Bringing back the Emperor as the ultimate villan to defeat would be brilliant move. It may even be the only thing that can save the ridiculous plot line the final trilogy has taken us down.

Sadly, we'll probably get some crap with Rey and Kylo defeating him together. Kylo should just die.

Palpatine needing to be beaten again is so lame. It destroys Anakin’s story from the original trilogy. But I don’t think Palpatine is back despite what they say. Why use a action figure picture in the poster of the Emperor? They can’t be that lazy.

I could not figure out why they did not let Leia die in space, that was one of the dumbest things about 8.

We laughed out loud in the theatre at that scene and then we felt awful at how horrible that was.

Can someone explain to me how can Luke and some combinations of Anakin/Padme or even Obi Wan can be cloned and turn into Rey...Just clueless but its certainly looking like its what theyd be doing since the Lightsaber has called Rey...

Space magic.

Episode 8 was one of the least enjoyable viewing experiences I've had in a cinema in quite some time. I'm quite a big SW fan and felt it was just completely lame

Last Jedi was the best numbered Star Wars movie since Empire (Rogue One is right there with it)

Swapping director was stupid. Not having the whole trilogy written before filming started was super stupid and amateurish.

They did both of these with the original trilogy.

There seems to be a major disconnect between the stories that each director wanted to tell though.  I left TLJ convinced that the whole point was to move the Star Wars Saga beyond the Skywalker bloodline.  The idea that the force was something much larger, and the story would continue to explore that fact.  Now Abrams is back and, judging by the title, seemingly hell bent on bringing the focus back on the Skywalkers.  It's making me start to wonder what the whole point of this trilogy was beyond just cashing in.

They crapped in the original characters. People got p---ed. So now they’re catering. But too much damage has been done. They can’t save what they did to the Luke character. A whole new trilogy and you don’t ha r the holy trinity on screen once simultaneously. You don’t have Luke have a lightsaber duel. EVERYONE wanted this. EVERYONE. But haha surprise!!! Subverted expectations. Training unnecessary. What a disaster.

God, I really hope they don't go the clone route with Bad Rey v. Good Rey.  Hopefully, just some sort of Force vision or, like Roy mentioned, something similar to the cave.

I'm also really hoping they don't go with this rumor of the Emperor possessing others' bodies.

Yeah I agree 100%.  If Rey is a clone it just seems like a cop out.  Bringing Darth Sideous to possess someone feels like really weak writing.  Like we can't write anything interesting enough to make people want to come on its own merits, so we bring back the Emperor.  We can't think of another opposing team for the heros to struggle against, so bring back the Empire (First Order).

I am a huge star wars nerd.  I have every dvd, read a lot of the expanded universe books / novels but for me the writing of the sequel trilogy has been pretty bad.  I liked The Force Awakens more than the Last Jedi, but both stories were just terrible to me.  for Ep 7 they had so many call backs to the original trilogy it might as well been A new hope.  They set all this mystery up with who Rey is, and all kinds of hints that she is a skywalker, only to (at least for now) make her a nobody.  It is all just trite / copycat writing from the original trilogy.  It is so disappointing.

Nostalgia is so freaking powerful in the film industry.  I wish the sequels would have gone a different direction.

I'm fortunate that, like the widespread critical consensus, I thought "Last Jedi" was absolutely brilliant.  That just magnifies my hype for this movie even more.  I feel bad for fans who hated it and will be going into this one wading through salt.

I only hated some parts of the Last Jedi but they were big parts. I’m definitely going to see it but I’m gonna wait because I don’t want to hurt the viewing experience for a few of my friends that DID like it. I had friends that ruined Man of Steel and BVS for me. I loved them and not everyone has to like what I do but out of respect for others people really shouldn’t crap on stuff out loud non stop when someone else is just enjoying the experience. Sci fi, fantasy, comic book movie fans are the worst at this. Bunch of babies.

Some really shady stuff was going on with the critics with something in the 90’s for Rotten Tomatoes and like 45 percent of the audience liked it. That RT score stuff has been revealed to be not super reliable.

I didn't mind the trailer (besides the backflip), but I don't really like Rey as a character, so I can't say I'm too excited.

Give me a remaster of the Knights of the Old Republic video games ahead of anything!

Why chase her down in a tie fighter instead of just shooting her? This makes me think they’re doing some training together. Pretty random idea for training though.

It won’t happen but I wish this trilogy would deemed no longer canon and start a new trilogy using younger actors in a few years.

I liked it too, outside of Leia floating in space and Snoke dying like that.  There are a ton of plot holes and shortcuts, but it entertained me.

I didn’t like The Last Jedi. I thought not killing Leia was stupid. I thought purple haired lady was annoying and hated her role. I hate that they built up snoke and then killed him in such a dumb way and I hate that this new trilogy(not so much TLJ) has completely trivialized the lightsaber which was the coolest ****ing weapon ever but now is just so mediocre.

I also hated the totally pointless casino planet scene and the intro scene where the 1st order was portrayed as incompetent

I had low expectations coming into TLJ and because of that enjoyed it. It wasn’t till I watched it a 2nd time that I realized I really disliked the movie.

All that said, the new Star Wars movies have been aesthetically brilliant and Rogue one is the best Star Wars movie of the 10 so far by a long shot in my opinion. Hopefully 9 is good.

I’m honestly more excited for the Kenobi series and think the Mandelorian and that other series (Caspian?) will be good too

Maybe lightsabers will actually touch in this movie?

TLJ didn't gave a single lightsaber battle.
