I was wondering if anyone on here has had an opportunity to sit down with this game yet.

I have played roughly 5-6 hours of it so far (off of school, and didn't have to work the day it came out) and honestly I can say I am a huge fan.

There is something just so relaxing about exploring an infinitely (well technically its like 18 quintillion planets) large procedurally generated universe and coming across new and exciting things.

The first time you get in a ship, and ascend through the heavens out into your local system, all without any type of loading screen, I was blown away. It honestly felt like a masterpiece. Everything in the game is so fluid. The procedurally generated animals and plants are done in a way that every new planet feels very unique. It is just an added bonus that you can name anything if you are the one to discover it.

If you want to be an explorer lost along the seas of the stars, slowly working your way towards the center of the universe, this game is definitely worth a pickup.

P.S - I can see some people who would be disappointed because they had the wrong impression about what the game is going to be. If people thought this was going to be infinite Destiny, they will hate it. It does have gun fighting and very well done space fights (difficult until you get the hang of it.)

I only have a PC (albeit a powerful one), so I am forced to wait until Friday at 2:00pm EST to play it.  The wait is killing me!  Reminds me of:  http://www.southparkstudios.co.uk/clips/dej8fh/cartman-wants-a-wii

I really can't wait to play it, and will definitely post back here once I do.  I'm not expecting the best game in every facet, but my favorite sci fi is when a ship comes across mysterious strange new places that are unscripted and unknown.  Just getting lost in the game and finding new things, as well as returning to familiar planets that I can call my own, will be enjoyable enough.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying it after 6 hours.  I've done my best to avoid spoilers about the game, but find that I can't resist clicking on links (like yours for example lol).  Come on, come on!!

All the footage of this game that I've seen just screams VR-game to me. Any news whether it will be adapted for PlayStation VR in October?

I hear it involves a lot of survival / crafting elements, which makes it sound like more of a time investment than I can afford to make.

I'm still working my way through The Witness, and I've got Dragon Age: Inquisition to play through, as well.

I do not like survival type games often and this one has never caught my eye.  The basic game play is just not fun to me.

Do not kill yourself doing all the bad side stuff in Inquisition.  It was a pretty good game but there is a lot of filler.

the last PC game I played was Tomb Raider. Since then, my friends and I went back to Starcraft II lol. We're looking for a new game, and No Man's Sky looks interesting enough

The reviews are kind of poor.  I have a PS4 just sitting and collecting dust.  I haven't seen any games that really seemed that compelling to me.

I think alot of the hype kind of snow balled. I went directly off of what the premise of the game actually was, and I havent been dissappointed. I think alot of people wanted a space shoot um up in an infinte universe, and this game is not that.

Its a survival-exploration game set in a jaw dropping universe with the primary goal of moving forward. The space battles far exceeded my expecations, and everything is very smooth.

That being said, as implied by the nature of procedural generation, you do see similar patterns here and there if you look.
