I've had mine since like 1996 and back then file names and screen names could only be 8 characters long.  Back in my day you'd have to sit for a half hour to see one Jenny McCarthy boob and modems had vocal personality.

I started out for a while as Crunch n' Munch, but something happened (either format change or I forgot my password or something) and I needed a new name, so at the time I was just about to move back to the south shore so I went w/ SShore Fan.

From there - well it's only conjecture of what the real story is.

I wanted my screen name to match my most ridiculous basketball vision.  Henry Finkel made Herman Munster look like Michael Jordan  The thought of the athletic wonder Finkel attempting the  Abdul-Jabbar skyhook, the most graceful of any move ever by a 7-footer, fit perfectly.

You are the first one I thought of when I saw this thread.  Hmm, I wonder how Steve picked his name.....   :D

About 10 or 11 years ago there was a poster on ESPN whose name was Pitino spelled backwards, so it read, Onitip which always reminded me of Imhotep for some reason. But I also was somewhat of a fan of RA, and Amenhotep the 4th, and his attempt toward monotheism.  So I changed at that time from DrLo to the current name.

I like Rondo.

And 987 were 3 numbers that I thought were easy enough to remember. Although when I think about it now, it makes sense since I was born in 1987. Wow I deserve a negative TP for just realizing this coincidence. Can someone give me a negative TP please?

Very lazy screen name:

When Celticsblog changed over formats and everyone had to re-sign up (I had previously been "WheresTonyBattie") Jeff had left a post that said something along the lines of "I know it's not great to have to re-sign up, but its a perfect time for you to change your screen name guilt free if you had a dated one like 'Start Orien."

Completely mindless, completely juvenille.

I assumed it was because of something like this:

Oh, but it was worth every minute waiting!

Initials and silly enough my buddy in High School's nickname was Kidd. He used to call me Play as in Kid n Play and it got lengthened out to Playa for some reason. I must say I was very embarrassed when that Lebron commercial recently came out and the they are making fun of the dude with the Kid n Play Cd and imitating their dance. I still loved them! Rollin' with Kid 'N Play still makes my head bounce!

One of my favourite authors is Ian Rankin. His most famous character is John Rebus. Combined the two and made it RebusRankin. It was initially for an email account and I liked the name so its my screen name of choice.

Well, I joined Celticsblog a month before Big Al was traded. Big Al = Al Jefferson and he's the future baby! That makes BigAlTheFuture!
