Public Enemies

Johnny Depp was awesome, Christian Bale was fairly good.
There was absolutely no attempt at any sort of character development so I felt absolutely nothing when each person died... and there were a lot of deaths.

However, I'm a sucker for biopics whether everything is true or not. The action sequences were awesome. The scenery was great. The plot, not so much.

Overall I'd give it 3 stars (Out of 4). If I actually felt bad when people died or knew a little bit more about each character I would have given it a better ranking.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford... I felt was fairly similar to Public Enemies, however it had tons of character development. I think having narration to give us more information on the characters is what made Jesse James a much better movie. I would give that one 4 stars.

Public Enemies is worth seeing if you are interested in the subject at hand, and action, and don't care about characters and plots.

Sin City

That movie is NUTS!  Bruce Willis is great, Clive Owen is great, Rosario Dawson, Benicio Del Toro, Jessica Alba...I could keep going.    Great Movie!   Elijah Wood is beyond creepy.

Someone else said He Got Game earlier.  Another classic.

Religulous.

Definitely not for everybody as it takes  a cynnical and  sardonic look at religion and could be offensive to some.

Since I respect, though do not ascribe to, any formal religion, I found it intellectually appealing as it certainly was an evenly dispersed look at what Bill Maher believes to be the absurdity of all organized religions. In other words, no major religions were spared in a forum that at times felt 'Borat-like' during interviews with folks espousing their religious views.

I learned some interesting things about the beliefs displayed  in the dogma and foundations of certain religions, but I took it all with a grain of salt as I know too many fine, level-headed people who accept the good that their religion provides for them without getting caught up in the fine print.

Aetheists and agnostics are likely to enjoy it, while serious religious folk may feel that Maher goes too far.

I watched "Catch a Fire" two night's ago with my gf. It was unbelievable! Highly recommended!

The story was amazing and the music (African themed - think "Power of One") was amazing as well.

Enjoy!

this was a GREAT film.  definitely thought provoking and entertaining (if you can have a sense of humor about religion)
