it was in the year 21BR (before redz) that i went with my dad to a celtics-toronto huskies game;
then while working my after school job in 15BR listening to cousy score fifty in a 5 overtime game win on the playoffs (30-33 from the line)....was at the c's loss to jabbars skyhook in 2 ot's in 1974 and at the 3 ot game in 76 vs phoenicx in the finals....3 years later i got season tickets which lasted through the bird era....so i guess you could say a lifelong die hard

Do you realize you're a dinosaur?
I mean that in the best possible sense.
I really do, no kidding what so ever.
That deserves a Tommy Point if anything does.

For those that do not know the Huskies:

I started "being down" in May of 1988.
Celtics vs Hawks series. I fell in love
with a certain hick from French Lick.
I hope that qualifies me as a diehard?  ::)

Just stumbled upon this exchange...2 things that got me to chuckle

1) That the era before I was born is being referred to as "Before Redz"
2) Someone calling my Dad a dinosaur! (I'm trying to think of an appropriate dinosaur to suit his personality best - I'm thinking Stegosaurus ;) )

with maybe a little of this mixed in

Yup

I've been a fan since 1976 watching the Suns-Celtics triple overtime finals game.  The Celtic fans were always so passionate.  Legendary history is a big part of it.

I became a Celtics fan in 2001-2002 I remeber my uncle R.I.P. who was from Maine and we were watching the game against the 76'ers and the Celtics were demolishing the Sixers when toine and Paul were torching them from down town. I didn't have a favorite team leading up to that i was in the sixth grade and I loved the way the played... chucking up threes lol thats the way I have always played but thank God for my uncle to tell me to start liking the C's instead of the ugh...ugh..cough cough.... Knicks.... in which the team my dad likes lol but thank God I became a C's fan because they really a big thing to me and my life

Hey, I'm sorry for calling your dad
a dinosaur, Redz  ;)
At least I didn't call him a "Raptor"  ;D
From now on you can be "Dinosaur Junior".

The year I remember starting to watch every single game of the Celtics that I could was the year Andrew Declerq (sp?) was on the Celtics. It seems like maybe 9 to 10 years ago, and back then the Clippers were considered a joke.

I was just amazed that he went
to a Huskies game (games?) with
your granddad. That was so long ago.
That's kinda old school!
I didn't know he was your father.
Anyway, I did TP him  ;)

I first started following the Celtics at the end of the 68-69 season.  It was good timing of course because they beat LA that year too.  I listened to it on the radio.

As I recall they were not on TV a lot back in the late 60's/early 70's so I listened to Johnny Most.  Listening to Johnny turned me into a fanatical and at times irrational Celtic fan.  Johnny had you believing that everyone was against us especially the refs.  And all the other players were villains.  I think he brainwashed me!

He's been to a ridiculous amount of big C's games (and even took me to one or two  ;) ).  Definitely responsible for instilling the passion for the C's, and all of the Boston teams in me from birth. I didn't know hardley was my father either until a few months ago either.  Pretty funny.
Yup

That last sentence sounds funny!
But I got it the second time around  ::)
I'm pretty sure no one I know is on here.

I think it is almost impossible to figure out when you became a die-hard period. But one thing I do know is when I realized I was. The Pistons & Lakers were playing in the Finals in 88' on Fathers Day. My dad just happens to be a die-hard Lakers fan & I still was rooting against his Lakers as if my Celtics were playing them. My brother was upset with me because he said it was Fathers Day & I should be wanting dad's team to win the title. But dads team is the Lakers and I just couldn't let my hatred for L.A. subside for even 1 day! Thats when I realized I was sick with the passion of a True Celtic, knowing I bleed Green. My Dads team won anyway ruining my day & making his. Although Isiah Thomas did all he could to make me happy dropping 40plus on a bum ankle.
