We already have a Pritchard-type player in Edwards. Pritchard is better at running the point but Edwards is every-bit the shooter, even though he hit a cold streak early and never really rebounded. We also have Waters at PG who is developing his shot and is much more scarier on D.
Anyways, Pritchard is a second round prospect and I highly doubt DA drafts him as early as 30th. We have other needs and I think there are better players to be had. I would even pass on him at 46 but that's just me and I'm not saying he won't go that high.

I like Pritchard and think he makes it as a backup PG in the NBA. He is much more of a PG then Edwards. With that said I would not use a 1st rd pick on him or any other player whose ceiling is that of a backup PG.

I think any PG we draft his ceiling is that of a backup PG on our roster.   Take Rozier, he is a starting point guard now but he was 3d string on our roster and would be 3rd string if he was still on our roster behind Kemba and Smart.  To leap over Smart and Kemba you need an all NBA talent and that ain't happening this draft.  So we are drafting a guy to be third fiddle for his whole rookie deal.  Pritchard is well suited for that role.  So are a bunch of other experienced college PGs but at 30 we can have our pick of them.  At 46 we get the real leftovers.

I mainly brought up Pritchard as an example of someone who can do everything we want and need for a 3rd string PG that we can pick low.  A lot of people are looking at guards who accomplished less than Pritchard did as a freshman, let alone his career, at the 17th pick and I think that's a mistake.  I think even picking Devon Dotson, or Tre Jones at 30 is a better pick for us then taking Theo Maledon or RJ Hampton at 17.  Especially if it lets us get a versatile defender who can score like Saddiq Bey or Devin Vassell at 17.  We need to grab a big at 26, so I really only think we need to be talking about late first early second round PG prospects.

We are a salary cap crunched title contender so we need to draft players that can contribute right now.  If we are in the finals next year and say Smart rolled his ankle in game 3, and we had to cut Wanamaker for roster space over the off season, who would you trust more to give us 20 minutes a game for the rest of the series, RJ Hampton or Pritchard.  I think where we are with our roster is we need to draft solid bench players who are ready to play like G. Williams was.  The only swing for the fences prospect really available to us is Aleksej Pokuševski and he is not ready to play meaningful minutes yet.

I think he’ll probably go undrafted.  If I’m looking for a big at 46 I’d be interested in  Udoka Azubuike   He’s not going to shoot the three but he can bang in the post for 10 - 15 minutes a game.  He is a very physical player 7’0, 270 lbs, 7’5 wingspan. He moves surprisingly well for such a big guy.

Azubuike highlights:

I have liked Azubuike for a while

While he lacks perimeter skills (FT also a bummer) but  he has decent passing touch.  Pretty much unstoppable once he seals and receives passes down low for dunks.  Or lobs for dunks

Good rebounder/shot blocker due to size/elite wingspan/reach and large hands.

Celts would be doubling up on another super freak frontcourt athlete like Robert Williams.  Not a bad insurance since Timelord has been spending lots of time on the IR

The pressing question here is whether Udoka Azubuike is actually a clone of DNA spliced together from Ime Udoka and Kelenna Azubuike.

beginning to warm up to Ty-Shon Alexander.

6'4 guard with 6'8 wingspan.  Solid build, athletic, versatile. Good shooter 38 percent from 3 pt line (sweet form), ball handler, passing skills.  Good defender and motor.  Drawback is his his age (just finished junior season).

If the Celts can't luck out with one of Hayes, Haliburton or Maledon.  I would consider trading the 17th pick and go with Ty-Shon Alexander with the 26th pick to replace Wannamaker for next season.

My mock as of today

30. Karim Mane - G  (project) 6'4 with 7 ft wingspan
46. Oscar Tshiebwe - C  (project) 6'9 with 7'4 wingspan beast

Ty-Shon Alexander and Karim Mane could be had with the 46th pick or better yet as undrafted FA, so not worth first round picks.
Oscar Tshiebwe is the most interesting of the three prospects but he needs a lot of improvement.  Maybe he'll be ready in another year or two since he's staying in college.

Ty-Shon Alexander :
Alexander is projected anywhere from a late second round pick to undrafted, but he is expected to remain in the draft regardless of where he is projected, according to a report from Stadium. He is a player that has the potential if he can get himself into an organization on a two-way contract.

Karim Mane:
Making the jump from CEJEP basketball to the NBA would a drastic leap and one NBA teams might be concerned about. If Brown was advising Mane, he said he would tell the 19-year-old to go to college before entering the draft.
"I think you have to look at the long game," Brown said. "If he goes to the NBA this year or tries to, I don't think he will be drafted and as a result, he might be stuck in the G-League playing with a bunch of guys taking shots trying to make it to the NBA as well, whereas a college system, wherever he goes, will be more suited and give him more shots than elsewhere. ... I think college is the better route."

Moments ago, the West Virginia basketball team received great news as freshman Oscar Tshiebwe took to Twitter that he will forgo the 2020 NBA Draft and return for his sophomore season.

These are all just projections by wannabe draft experts

Usually the first 15 are accurate. But then it's been anybodys game (these days).  This is one of the flattest drafts  (after 10th pick) I have seen since the 2013 draft

There is no reason why Ty-Shon Alexander should be ranked lower than Devon Dotson.  Or Kira Lewis. Or Immanuel Quickley.

Matter of fact he is a better shooter than all of them with a more well rounded game.  Only drawback is that he is one year older

Karim Mane as you pointed out, is a riskier pick. And this is why he is not projected to be drafted in the lotto at this time.  However he has elite physical tools for a PG.  He has good looking skills that need refinement/consistency.  Taking him at 30 could be a pretty good risk to take if you ask me.  What if he turns out to be a lotto talent next off season?

Lastly taking Oscar Tshiebwe at 46 , even if it doesn't work out, is fine.  He is a beast downlow, plays with determination. He also is light on his feet and can guard out to the perimeter.  He lacks perimeter skills and maybe can develop a jump shot down at the G league.

Yeah I did see it .. Too bad. But my point is that Tshiebwe or comparable C is more fitting at 46

I don't agree with Oldschooldude that Alexander or Mane will be available at 46 (or undrafted FAs).

Yes, Oscar Tshiebwe is not in the draft.  If he was in the draft and I was picking a big at 46 I would look to take Udoka Azubuike.  He is a monster.  Top 5 pick in the 80s .  Now he is limited but if used right he can be a nice piece to have on the bench.  I also like Reggie Perry at 46 for a big, if he's still there.  But I think the PG depth is better at 46 than PF/C.

The various wannabe draft experts tend to group players in the same general draft area and teams tend to agree.  I will agree that there is no reason why Ty-Shon Alexander should be ranked lower than Devon Dotson, Kira Lewis, or many of the other players.  My point is that the talent gap at PG after about the top 5 is slim.  Why use the 17th or 26th pick on a PG when you can get equivalent value at 46.  I can see reaching a little at 30 for a PG if you really like the guy and think hell be gone by 46.
