The Dallas Mavericks have traded Nerlens Noel to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Abdel Nader, Guerschon Yabusele, and the Boston Celtics 2018 first round pick, league sources tell ESPN.

Statements coming soon from both organizations.

Don't think the Mavs have an open roster spot so who did they release to free up the spot?

According to ESPN, they have 14 players.  Kyle Collinsworth has recently signed a couple of 10-day contracts so technically he is not on the roster.
Sounds good.  Nice trade for both teams.

Whoever is running the Celtics in this exercise needs to go get Joe Ingles.

No other move could possibly top that.

Woj: "There is believed to be some traction on a potential Courtney Lee trade, but sides are still in deep discussions. Meanwhile, O'Quinn continues to garner a lot of trade interest, and Knicks are taking calls."

Ian Begley: "After making the trade for Julius Randle last night, the Knicks are now focusing their attention on consolidating future assets, and have already received a ton of interest on O'Quinn, especially from contenders who feel they could use depth in the front court for relatively cheap salary. The asking price is expected to be headlined with a late first round pick OR a young, cheap and cost-controlled player. Preferably a wing player."

Woj: "The Knicks are receiving a lot of calls about Kyle O'Quinn and Courtney Lee, and some preliminary offers as well, primarily from teams who expect to make and be in the playoffs this spring who could use an additional piece."

I sure hope NYK has an unlimited call and text plan with all these phone calls and interest on O'Quinn that apparently keeps pouring in... Who would have known he'd be in such high demand!

@rick_bonnell - 0m ago - I hear the @hornets are very active on the trade market and are getting close on a number of moves. Some pure salary dumps, others bring in assets, and others would be on the fly reset. Team still undecided on path going forward.

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson

Per woj: Sources tell ESPN the Miami Heat are having discussions with multiple teams about Hassan Whiteside. The Heat are trying to get younger, and look to move their star big man for talent and picks.

Per Mile High Deli Guy: "Nuggets are still in search of a Star player. They have been listening to offers for their promising young duo of Murray and Harris as well as their stockpile of PF's. GM stated that they have been very active this trade season and are in constant talks with other teams. He really feels with the right trade the Nuggets can make some noise in the playoffs."

WOJ: ''I've heard that a contender has informed about Tyson Chandler. The veteran is currently the starting center for the Phoenix Suns and still putting up elite rebounding numbers (12th in RPG, 8th in REB%). He could indeed be a valuable contributor in the playoffs. The Phoenix Suns apparently are not unwilling to trade Chandler, but are still looking for better offers.''

Trade announcement:

The Utah Jazz have traded Derrick Favors, Jonas Jerebko, and Rodney Hood to the Timberwolves for Justin Patton and Gorgui Dieng.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y8coa8dc

The Utah Jazz have been active at the trade deadline in an effort to build around Mitchell.

"We'd like to thank Derrick, Jonas, and Rodney for their time with the Utah Jazz. In order to accommodate them, we wanted to send them to a playoff team. We think they will be given the opportunity to flourish in Minnesota and compete in the playoffs.

This move was about the future for us. We think Dieng fits our system better long-term, with his defense and his developing 3 point shot. We also liked Patton leading up to the draft and think he has a bright, bright future in the NBA.

With this deal, we also get under the luxury tax.
