Great article in ESPN, (link below), talking about how the Bucks have climbed from average/below average to top of the league in important offensive and defensive categories, including 3 point shooting, rebounding, transition defense, defending the paint, etc.

A lot of emphasis is getting stretch 4's/5's who can shoot the 3 ball, which opens the paint for GA to attack.  Also coach Bud's coaching given a lot of credit. Seems a shoe in for COY, and there are a lot of good candidates to consider (McMillan, Denver coach, SAC coach, even Doc).

Wondering if we will see more teams think about this in drafting future players.

Would not be surprised to see them beat Warriors in 4/5 games in finals. Just feels like the passing of the torch is unfolding this season.

Considering the fact that they have yet to win a championship, I am leaning towards no.  This time last year, Stevens and D'Antoni were the "it" coaches.  This year, not so much.

It's hard to talk about a template when there's a generational talent in the mix. It's like saying you only need a stretch 4, PG scorer and Lebron to win a title. Or a dominant center and guard (Shaq, Kobe). Or three of the greatest shooters of all time (Curry, Klay, Durant).

If the template is "draft a transcendent talent", then that would be the template.  Not new though.

This is a very good point.  The template is really "Have one/two/three of the best players in the league and then fill out the roster in a way that complements said player(s)".  Pretty much applies to every championship team.

It’s the same template as always: acquire a superstar, surround him with good players.

Yup. Milwaukee's "Template" sure looks like Cleveland's "Template" from 2004-2009.

I think they're doing a much better job of putting quality players in their primes around Giannis than Cleveland did in Lebron's first stint.

Bad timing for the article, talking about how Milwaukee's defense is so great and a major reason for their resurgence and the article comes out just hours after it became known Brogdon, one of the team's most important defenders, goes down for the season.

Perhaps, but then again, let's see if Milwaukee can get as far as those LeBron teams in Cleveland got the first time he was there.

I don't think Milwaukee will ever win a title with this group, so no, I don't think they have set any blueprint.

I get Milwaukee has Giannis and are having a phenomenal season, but can we please see them make the ECF first before making these kinds of articles? This is like saying the Cleveland Browns in the NFL currently have a "SB Contender/Super Team" because they traded for Odell and made a few other moves in the past week (despite their recent decade)  ::)

This exactly.

Milwaukee had better not miss their chances to upgrade talent like the Cavs did back then.

I don't think Middleton as a number two guy gets it done.

They haven't won a championship so how can they be the new template?
