The NBA's Board of Governors approved two rule changes that will go into effect next season -- a second coach's challenge if the first one is successful and an in-game flopping penalty -- at its annual meeting during the Las Vegas Summer League on Tuesday.

The coaches challenge change couldn't have come soon enough. I still think it should reset at half-time, but it is at least a start.

Not so sure about the in-game flopping penalty. In principle I like the idea of trying to stamp out flopping. However, already we've seen it misused in the Summer League, with a player getting hit in the face for no-call, flopping as a result, and getting the tech. It's tricky, because NBA refs are terrible - now they have more opportunities to insert themselves into the game. Unsure if it will work.

Like I mentioned before, I don't think it's a coincidence the two biggest floppers on the Celtics are no longer on the team. Hopefully the referees take this seriously, because the players and coaches have made a mockery of the game that I love with flopping. Here's a little hint, if a player doesn't brace himself before hitting the ground, it's a flop.

I wonder if next season the refs will give them
A more favorable whistle. Two of the biggest complainers are off the Cs now.

Calls are going to be missed sometimes.  If enforcing the penalty, gets players to stop flopping so much it will be a big positive.

I wonder if a coaching challenge can potentially change a foul against his team, to being a flop for the opposition.

From the article, it sounds like it can indirectly.

flopping violations can't be directly reviewed by a coach's challenge. They can, however, be added to a call during a review of a different play.

Embiid/Harden flop all over the court.
