Perk has said repeatedly that he wants to re-up in Boston, so if Danny even comes close to other offers, I think he'll be back.
Perk would be a tremendous fit for Miami, but I get the sense that he'd rather eat glass than chase a ring with Lebron and Co.
Oh, of course we've all heard that "celtic for life" stuff. Seriously, what else is he going to say? Especially with years left on his deal?
And you may be right. Personally, I'd eat the glass. But if Perk were to look at things rationally, the best chance of winning every single year for the next 5 is in Miami. Sorry, but they're guys are 1) in their prime, and 2) locked up under contract. Ours, except for Rondo, are not.
No doubt Perk loves the C's and has been a Celtic since high school, but please, let's not pretend this is a sure thing. Miami, with the playoff money and no taxes, can make a very, very attractive offer.
I'd estimate it would take something in the $10 million range to compete with tax-free Florida money? That means no max free agents for us, folks, and we're riding Rondo, Pierce, and Perk (along with whatever's left of Ray and KG, if they stay). We're looking at 2nd round exits, like the late 80's/early 90's with that group. Danny might elect to buy some offensive firepower first with a max FA(which will be much needed in a couple of years).
Just presenting alternatives...keeping in mind tradeoffs and all... It made sense for all concerned for role players like Posey and TA to leave before; it may make sense for Perk to go as well.
