The Grizz are #1 in the NBA for points in paint.

Yikes...

Very soon the Grizzlies are about to go on a brutal stretch.  After home games against the Cavs and the Pelicans (Zion’s first game back ) they then play 17 out of the next 25 games on the road.  Unlikely at this point the pick carries over, but maybe we can salvage a good lottery pick.

A top 10 pick would be a good lottery pick.

They are 8-10 on the road and 11-12 at home.  Doesn't appear to make a whole lot of difference where they play.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

It does matter who they play though (they have beat some tough teams however). I posted in another thread they have a tough schedule coming up in February. That is still a couple of weeks away but they will start to trend downwards. I don't see them dropping all the way to #6 but maybe bottom 10. Stuff happens in the NBA (injuries, injured players come back, other teams play weaker/stronger schedules, trades) so let's just see how this plays out. I just don't see this team making the playoffs.

I doubt they make the playoffs (I think at least Portland will go by them, if not others), but I also don't really see them getting horrible either.  They have real legit talent on that team and appear well coached.

Hard to see the Grizzlies pick being better than 10.  Pick 10 would mean the Spurs, Suns, Trailblazers and Pelicans all manage to pass them.  I don't see any of the non-playoff East teams catching them.

I think the pick will be between 11 and 14.  Can a team picking there move up into the top 4 (or top 6, etc?) via lottery?

Yes they can. In fact the odds of it happening have increased in recent years.

Thank you!  At pick 7-9 I was hoping it would convey this year....now I'd prefer it convey next year (unless maybe it gets down to 10 or 11). I don't think Memphis can make the playoffs next year over the Pels or Blazers....

For me this upcoming draft seems to offer decent quality right up to about pick 13 or so...after that it feels like it shift to hunting gems in the rough.

Zion has 22 points 4/4 from 3 in 18 minutes.  :o :o :o Pels could win a lot of games now...

Yes. Probably the worst possible outcome for the Cs would be for the Grizz to finish just out of the playoffs this year and then win the lottery to get another top pick.

I thought the lottery was only for the top 3 spots.  Did that change?
Yup

You’re right. I just mean that the odds of landing a Top 3 pick have “leveled out” in recent years. So if the Grizzlies finish 9th, they still have an okay shot of ultimately finishing in a Top 3 spot.

 ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Danny has always gone for BPA. If he feels the BPA is a big (aka Rob Williams and Grant Williams) he will draft them. Can you prove to me that he prioritizes guards? Stupid question, I know you will just dodge it like usual.
