some people think that Jalen Lecque has a promise from the Celtics

if he even eligible for this upcoming draft?

Yeah he did five years of high school.  He can still withdraw by May 29 and attend NC State.

Interesting

Danny has never been shy to take a plunge on high schoolers

So I wouldnt be surprised

I will believe that the Lakers make that #4 pick when it happens, regardless of who they made a promise to. I can't see them adding yet more youth to a team that is desperate to add stars and veterans for the lasts years of LeBron.

Maybe they trade all the other youth and keep the #4, but I don't see it.

I can't imagine the Lakers would want to add a rookie. Not unless they trade the rest of their young talent and he's the one remaining younger piece.

Not critiquing the validity of these reports, but doesn't it just seem early in the process to have promises?

I feel like the rumored promises come out just before the draft, or at least after a few team workouts.
Nope. Draft promises start right before the combine typically. Teams move to shut guys they like down from that process.

Makes sense.

Per Sean DeVeney, the Timberwolves have made a promise to B. Clarke with their pick

Sounds about right, if we got the 9th pick he was one of the players I would have liked the C's to look at. (if he lasted to that slot)

Interesting, Steve Kyler from BBall insiders said that the rumor around the combine was that Hachimura had a promise to Minn. Clarke makes more sense as a roster fit.

I like Clarke but think lottery is too high for him. He is essentially a 23 year old project. At his size sub 6’9 ws and only 207lbs, he really needs to develop as a perimeter shooter. Prior to the combine it was assumed that a little longer and closer to 230lbs. At that size he could potential play some extreme small ball 5. That is just no longer the cae

some people think that Jalen Lecque has a promise from the Celtics

This is interesting, there seems to be extremely little buzz on the internet about Lecque. He tested out well at the combine, reports are that he played well in the first scrimmage. Then shut it down.

To date I haven't been able to find a single report of him working out for a team. It may be a stretch to think that the Cs have made a promise to him but it isnt hard to speculate that someone has a promise to him.

If he doesnt have any reported workouts in the coming weeks that could be really telling.

Lecque likely won't be ready to contribute much, other than D league/garbage time. But potential is fascinating

I wouldn't mind if Danny reaches (22nd pick) for the Avery Bradley like youngster

His high school tape reminds me a lot of Dennis Smith Jr.

Hopefully doesn't suffer any injuries, but a freak athlete regardless

This may be deserving of its own thread, but who do you see the Lakers packaging the 4th pick and/or young players for if not Davis?  I feel like this off-season is so wide open for possibilities at the moment.
