The reason he looked like a good rebounder is his MPG was much, much lower in his earlier years. He's just not a talented rebounder :\

MPG:
2006: 9.2
2007: 7.7
2008: 19.7
2009: 19.4
2010: 13.0
2011: 26.1
2012: 31.7

His Per 36's looked good when he was only playing 9 minutes and getting 2 pts & 2 reb a game.

Got it. Thanks (TP)

What a bummer. I thought he still had some hidden talent in there.... he had 9rpg in college...? :P

Another factor: Bass has been playing more and more against first team big men, who tend to be taller and better at rebounding.

It was easier for him to get rebounds when he was playing in garbage time or against second unit big men.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Maybe we should put him back on the bench, and start Wilcox then (seeing as he's better against second unit big men)

Yup, throw out his first two years when he got no minutes on a bad team. Since he's gotten more minutes he's been fairly consistent with a slight downswing this year. But still very much in the range of his career average of around 12.

Another way to put this: ... who tend to be better than he is.
