Rose has been medically cleared to play for months...

... but refused to play in the playoffs, despite his doctors giving him the okay.

Dallas' coach (Kevin McHale) just threw up on his shoes.

By the way, has anybody noted that Derrick Rose shot 43% from the floor last year, and 31% from 3PT?

His eFG% of .473 was the lowest of his career, and frankly, isn't very impressive.  That's before he lost a year due to a severe ACL injury.

You know what would help those numbers?

The answer for how Calderon beat Rose 6 times out of 8.

6 of those games were coached by Vinnie Del Negro (Bulls were a .500 team two years in a row 2008-2009 and 2009-2010)

The Bulls in those games, 1-5.

I'm not sure that Mike Brown is going to offer a lot more, especially on the offensive end.

His orthopedic shoes.

I don't see how any "increased pace" is going to translate into a significant increase in scoring opportunities for Smith, Deng, and Gordon compared to their combined shot attempts for last season (45 FGA per game).

I'm not sure if anybody said it would?

However, an increased pace leads to easier baskets.  Dallas has a very good rebounding center, three excellent runners and finishers on the break, and an elite point guard directing the offense.

That doesn't mean Dallas should exclusively run the break, but to suggest that a team with Nash, Gordon, Deng, Smith, and Big Al couldn't run a fast pace just seems odd.
I believe this team could run the break so easily
i don't get how Lucky suggests that this team wouldn't run

I was going to pick up the glove that Roy dropped about increased pace = easier baskets (Cliff Notes version: it doesn't necessarily; see Milwaukee's "quantity over quality" strategy), but figured that ship had sailed.

Jose Calderon had a lot of success against Derrick Rose in Rose's first two seasons in the NBA because he was far smarter and a more effective PG in the NBA. Rose was a strong scorer (albeit with mediocre efficiency) who was still learning how to run a team and gave inconsistent (usually lack of) effort on the defensive end of the floor.

Since Thibodeau came in and since D-Rose took his game to another level, it has been one way traffic in Rose's favour. Just like it was always going to be in the end. D-Rose just needed time to learn his trade. Calderon took advantage of the youngster as he does with most young PGs.

It is a good example of how underrated Calderon is as a PG + how overrated score first PGs (Lillard, K.Irving) can be in their first years before they learn how to properly run a team and play quality defense.

Edit: Plus, Toronto had Chris Bosh kicking Joakim Noah's butt for those first two years too. Bosh had some really great performances against Chicago. Fun games.

Well, we just saw our 14 year old rookie get run over by (in my opinion) lazy group think, but at least I gave IP a chuckle.  Progress.
