Go Celtics! The Celtics are really going to have to bring massive energy to this one. I have faith!
8th!Tp for improvement from 32nd!!
Cavs by 17 tonight...😣
Hopefully it's not Tony Brothers, Scott Foster, and Marc Davis or we can just gift wrap this game to the Cavs.
Scott Foster
Bill Kennedy
Eric Lewis
These are the refs tonight. Looks like a tied series.
Lets turn it back up and respond after massacre!
Like pretty much everyone else here...really unsettled about tonight. I can see a Cleveland win more than a Boston win. I hope I am wrong..

I feel better about tonight than I did on Sat. It's a bad combo of playing game 3 on the rd against a desperate team.
They just need to settle down and take good, smart shots.
Celts by 8.
Book it.

As an absolute minimum we need to START WELL. Especially on the defensive end. We can't lose this game in the 1st quarter again
as bad as the dread of another bad start tonight is having to listen to the ESPN Lebron-fanatics again tonight on the broadcast.
expect the worst
hope for the best

2 lay-ups and a dunk missed.
STOP THE STUPID SWITCHES ON TT
dude clearly out
Multiple missed dunks and layups
Can’t win when we’re playing like amateurs
we are regressing back to last gameyup, they're tightening up with each trip up the court. missing layups and dunks.
I said cavs win by 17 and i still do
pretty sure someone buttered our rim
More different standards of officiating tonight I see.
And I mean, these are supposed to be professional refs. They don't even know the rules about the ref being an extension of the court when he was CLEARLY out of bounds??

REALLY frustrating. 2 missed lay-ups; 2 missed dunks. C's should be up but are down 6.
STOP THE STUPID SWITCHESON TT
Well, that certainly looked like it hit off the refs, but apparently not. Good no-call ref.
Jesus Christ, Brad, can you really not reign in these dumb freaking Smart threes?
Smart long ball crap-
Marcus Smart is simply incapable of good shot selectionSomeone needs to tell him he’s not Steph Curry
Well, that certainly looked like it hit off the refs, but apparently not. Good no-call ref.
Yeah, I gotta admit that I was wrong on that one too...
that sucks because I want to be mad at the refs!!!!
found money
ill pick it up and spend it!!

Jesus Christ, Brad, can you really not reign in these dumb freaking Smart threes?
He usually starts hitting at some point. But it's becoming very worrisome.
love Smart but right now I'd bench him for the game. nothing but stupid play since he went in the game
Just more stupid basketball from the C's.
I'd love to see us switch up our PnR coverage once in a while. It's blatantly clear that Cleveland is just seeking out switches and exploiting the mismatch. Throw a wrinkle in there once in a while Brad. What we're doing now is not working.

Great reception by Lebron even with 2 C's (including Smart) playing corner/safety.
C's need a run to weather this quarter.
Marcus Smart making himself more affordable for the Celtics going forward with each passing game.
once this celtics team can play smart ball for 4 quarters we will be unstoppable. Thought u said cavs will win..make up ur mind..
why do we keep going back to stupid ball?
Smart having a nightmare of a game this is where we feel the loss of Shane Larkin As an extra body
This is when the Celtics need Kyrie. They need a shot maker.
Mook with his third ::)
It’s almost as if it’s common knowledge he’s the best LBJ defender on our team.....
Marcus Smart making himself more affordable for the Celtics going forward with each passing game.
Huh ?
You did see him win game 2 for us with three huge plays in the second half, right ?
i thought bard would have had us better prepped??thought u said cavs win tonight...make up ur mind
doing same stupid crap? GENIUS!
Unless things improve and Boston wakes up... game five is going to be the Series
Did Korver just block JB
Lol I love that there's apparently a completely different standard of what constitutes a foul on our end than their end. 7 - 3 on fouls ::)
If they push this lead past 12 soon, we're doomed.
Flagrant!Did Korver just block JB
It would have been called a foul on the other end
Lol I love that there's apparently a completely different standard of what constitutes a foul on our end than their end. 7 - 3 on fouls ::)
Scott Foster man. We knew it was coming
Going to be worse with Brothers in game five
How was that not a foul on Thompson??

We're on to Game 5...

And where the hell is Horford at? Dude has been no-existent since coming to Cleveland.Tristan Thompson is completely shutting him down
Brad has this team completely unprepared for this game. Absolutely no switch to the defensive scheme that killed us in game 3, and he's simply living with us getting absolutely murdered on switches without making any adjustments. Completely being outcoached these past five quarters.Yep. The dunks and layups hurt, but Brads horrible stubborn attitude on defence hurts more
And apparently dunks and layups are just incapable of being finished tonight...
Mike Breen's fandom for the Cavs whenever they do something is good is too much.

Really? Now Korver is suddenly Kawhi Leonard...Helped by JB playing like he’s in the G-League
The problem is all our guys have tunnel vision. No one can buy an assist so we have 1 pass then a predictable play. Iso play after ISO play after ISo play

i have to make sdjustments when i coach. football coaches do it all the time. if brad doesnt do this he is not as smart as we think.
it's one thing to make adjustments during the season. it's a completely different thing in the playoffs when you not only have to adjust game to game but in each game. Defensive schemes haven't been working since game 2. need to try a different approach to throw Cleveland off their offenseExcept those that know what making adjustments actually means. I mean... No Gordon... No Kyrie... Still in the ECF. You don't get this far down 2 stars without making adjustments.
The thing is you are never as bad as you look in games like this, and you aren't as good as you look like in our game 1 blowout of the cavs.
Steady and tough wins the day. They punched us in the mouth, we weren't ready to play to start this game, but lets just see what happens. Game isn't over in the middle of the 2nd quarter.

Surprised that they didn't give Korver the block there
**** Rozier on an island against Lebron again! This is a TERRIBLE matchup!!

How is Korver always open on those screens
of all the freaking Cavs to leave open, Korver is the one you need to stick to at all timesexactly
but jay tay is long. He can block and should be able to keep up with that 40 year oldHow is Korver always open on those screens
Because for some inexplicable reason we're guarding him with Jayson freaking Tatum...
Just keep going small and switching everything, Brad! It's clearly working just like you planned, Mr. I'm Incapable of Making In-Game Adjustments...
Tatum didn't even move! How the **** is that a foul?

Not when Korver is running around multiple screens around the perimeter he can't, which is 99.9% of what Korver does.
Tatum gotta be smarter on Def. Don't bail Lebron out with slaps at the ball.
Just keep going small and switching everything, Brad! It's clearly working just like you planned, Mr. I'm Incapable of Making In-Game Adjustments...
oh now you have done it bitter jim will come after you and say you called him a moron! LOL
Man getting lit up by Korver
Hard to believe but we're actually still winning this quarter despite continued bad play. Rozier having to bail us out.the good thing is we're slowly gathering a rhythm.
Hate the fact they play so poorly on the road
Love is now throwing elbowsProbably never forgave KO lol

Normally I'd prefer he drive it, but he can't seem to do anything with it when he does
If only our defense wasn't so horrible. I mean the Cavs are shooting 61%.that's mostly because korver is shooting 100% somehow

Jaylen Brown is getting punked by Kyle Korver. I can't even put into words how embarrassing that is.
I want to believe this is just Cleveland playing better at home but I can't. They've adjusted and the C's are still playing catch up.
Just for the ignorant among us (me in particular) -- what is the origin of the term "dime" for assist? Term wasn't used when I was young. The origin of a basketball assist being called a dime isn't readily known. ... In this sense, “dropping a dime” or giving someone a dime was assisting someone to make a phone call. Most people believe this phrase ended up transferring over to the NBA as helping a teammate make a basket
Jaylen Brown is getting punked by Kyle Korver. I can't even put into words how embarrassing that is.when JVG keeps going off on how rare it is for Korver to block anyone, much less twice in the same game, and makes an argument for a 3rd block, you need to go back an look at what you're doing wrong with your offense

Got it to 9 -- can't surrender back to teens before the half. Let's go C's/

Lol. We get back in the game and what do we do? Crumble
How did Thompson beat everyone down the floor? Sad
Amazingly we are only down 15
Smart turnovers killing our momentumthis game, he's now Marcus Dumb, not Smart
Smart is killing us out there smh.
Amazingly we are only down 15
Yeah but should be down just 10. What a pathetic end to that quarter.
we get it under 10 points, and then completely fall apart.
I don't get how we can completely forget to run back on def and TT gets a wide open dunk.
we are either dumb or terrible or both right now. embarrassing.
Tristan Thompson is destroying us. Cbs has to counter. I might try Yabu...
Tristan Thompson is destroying us. Cbs has to counter. I might try Yabu...
Brad deserves as much criticism as anyone for his lack of adjustments from game 3. Yes we're shorthanded, but our defensive schemes make no sense right now. 68 points is a testament to that.
Smart has had been about as bad as he can be tonight, though it doesn't really matter as nobody else has played much better either.
Marcus Smart looks like a failed Pro Active commercial
That were only down 15 is an absolute miracleI agree. We can Turn this game around with a simple run. The question is do we have the use and desire?
C's don't deserve this game. just too stupid. should be forced to forfeit their paychecks for the game. that might wake them up for game 5
One thing is for sure, Stevens has lost all confidence in Monroe
Because Lue pulls Thompson every time Baynes is in and runs PnR to get Baynes on James.Tristan Thompson is destroying us. Cbs has to counter. I might try Yabu...
Thompson making Lue look like Einstein and Stevens like Gump 😁
We have no answer for him- not sure why Baynes not out there more
watching Smart and Rozier this half, is there really anyone thinking the C's would have difficulty paying the contracts for these 2 in two years? neither is showing they're any better than a MLE offer if that much
Tristan Thompson sucks against 28 other teams. Why does he always destroy us?
sad when we (and the broadcasters) are thinking Larkin would be a help in the playoffs. he could probably run the offense a bit better (certainly could tonight at least) but if you think the Cavs are feasting on Rozier on defensive switches, they'd be eating Larking alive --> just like they did with IT last yearSmart has had been about as bad as he can be tonight, though it doesn't really matter as nobody else has played much better either.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but not having Larkin is killing us right now. Rozier and Smart are playing poorly but we have to play at least one of them

This has to be one of the dumbest games we've had this year, yet we somehow only have 3 TOs. From the coaching (both rotations and defensive schemes) to the players (dumb shot selection and miscommunication defensively), there have been numerous poor decisions made tonight.

It is a really weird game. We only have 3 turnovers, we have more offensive rebounds than the cavs, we have more made 3's, but they are shooting 61% from the field and are getting anything and everything they want when they have the ball. Guys just need to play better on def, and stop switching when Rozier is involved.
Maybe start Baynes in the 2nd half. He had a really good 1st half. Defended well, got some dunks, but him back in the starting lineup.

Do we though?
I floated this after the last game, but I'd start the second half with Brown, Tatum, Morris, Horford, and Baynes.
I think Tatum, Morris, and Horford can initiate the offense enough for that lineup to work, and it gives us several mismatches to exploit offensively. Most importantly, though, it stops them from exploiting mismatches on the switches that we're apparently incapable of changing.
Have to try something at this point, because counter to Brad's apparent philosophy, keeping up with the current game plan isn't going to work, just like it didn't work the past six quarters.

Morris kills our offensive flow to start with him being hellbent on shooting any and everything the minute he gets the ball. Doesn't matter if it's contested or not. It's annoying. Those small lineups are especially hard when Al doesn't show up ready to go.
Jayson Tatum looks like the french fry cooker at McDonalds who is always busy but nevertheless initiates conversations with customers "I got you"
Miraculously we're still not out of this game...but our margin for error in the second half is razor thin...we probably only have 1-2 more missed dunks, defensive breakdowns or dumb passes before the entire game unravels in our hands.
After "Last Jedi", there is no way I am going to watch Solo in the theaters so enough with the commercials.(https://media.mnn.com/assets/images/2017/12/porg-star-war.jpg.653x0_q80_crop-smart.jpg)
Watch, we're going to come out at the half with the same lineup and same game plan defensively.
Unlike last game, I do think we're still in this in the second half. I feel like we have a run in us still, but the defense HAS to be fixed for that to happen.
NO MORE ROZIER SWITCHES; IN FACT, STOP SWITCHING ALTOGETHER UNLESS THE CAVS ACTUALLY FORCE THE SWITCH BY THREATENING THE DRIVE.
C's don't deserve this game. just too stupid. should be forced to forfeit their paychecks for the game. that might wake them up for game 5
This has to be one of the dumbest games we've had this year, yet we somehow only have 3 TOs. From the coaching (both rotations and defensive schemes) to the players (dumb shot selection and miscommunication defensively), there have been numerous poor decisions made tonight.
Cavs 61%brown needs to develop some passing. He forces shots when he's covered
Celtics 37%
This is more or less 6 straight quarters of shooting 37%. That's enough, they can move on to higher percentages...preferably NOW.
I don't care what James is "doing" or how bad so and so is shooting, just hit some freaking shots already.
Jayson 1-5 Jaylen 3-12 and many of those were at the rim
Jayson Tatum looks like the french fry cooker at McDonalds who is always busy but nevertheless initiates conversations with customers "I got you"
After these two games winning in Boston is anything but a certainty
What the hell was that jaylen??
What a BS call. Complete BS.
Wow. Morris is just finishing with footwork
I've seen much more blatant examples of that rule go uncalled.Steph Curry does it almost every game
How doesn't that three count the foul was after the shot
Nice D. Jaylen should have dunked it -- made a tougher shot.
Having a hard time getting my head around that Morris call. Looked like it should have been a 4 point play. Very slight lift on his right leg -- looked to be in the flow if the shot. COSTLY!!!!
**** morris hits the 3 point shot and they call offensive foul against him? that is bull****!
Nice D. Jaylen should have dunked it -- made a tougher shot.

Nope! No more Jaylen dunk attempts please! :P
Which ref made the crappy call against Morris? Fake league
My lord -- need something to fall. Cavs have had their share tonight.bricking free throws now
How does Mark Jackson talk with his mouth full of James?
And here we go right back to the Rozier switches on Lebron... Leads right to a score, of course..
If it goes like this it will be 15 again soon.
And here we go right back to the Rozier switches on Lebron... Leads right to a score, of course..
james goes to rim at will and we jack a 3 that misses.
We need Baynes in
Is there an NBA rule that says Lebron James is allowed to push off with his off hand?
That wasn't a foul. Hill jumped into him
james goes to rim at will and we jack a 3 that misses.
I can't take this street ball crap. Just dumb add offense
Rozier just got bailed out on a TERRIBLE shot on the fastbreak..
We cut it to 9, then they go on a 6-0 run. Every single time it seems
Rozier just got bailed out on a TERRIBLE shot on the fastbreak..
Rozier just got bailed out on a TERRIBLE shot on the fastbreak..
Rozier just got bailed out on a TERRIBLE shot on the fastbreak..It's only a bailout if you can make your free throws.
Man we messed up that transition bad
we could have got this lead to single digits. make your [dang] fts!
smh
that replay looked like the ball by Rozier was over the basket on the Thompson block
We are slowly chipping away at the lead
that replay looked like the ball by Rozier was over the basket on the Thompson blockIsn't this reviewable?
Also, how was that not a goaltend by Thompson?
these announcers must be paid by Lebron. They are so f-ing biased for him.

Clear goaltend. Not just at its peak but falling downward.
umm
help me
what did brown do?
lebron gettin that same love jordan did
Jaylen commits some of the dumbest fouls I've ever seen.
NEED SEMI TO POUND KEBRON
MAKE HIM SHOOT JAYS
No, that was rather obvious and totally unnecessary. It's going to get called 10 times out of 10.Jaylen commits some of the dumbest fouls I've ever seen.
that was a Lebron call. Can hardly fault Jaylen on that. Its just what it is.
the problem is that lebrons whole team gets the treatmentlebron gettin that same love jordan did
It's worse. Much worse.
Time for some good old 8v5
Guys.
Tatum fouled him. Jeff Green barely touched him. Stop it.
Now that call on Marcys.....
On the bright side, we're still well in this! Down just 9 at the moment ;D
NEED SEMI TO POUND KEBRON
MAKE HIM SHOOT JAYS
LeBron knows he's getting friendly whistles. He'll just keep initiating contact to get the whistle. He's not even driving anymore, he's getting whistles for just sizing up his man now.

That one was 50/50. Should've been a no-call, as they've been letting a lot more contact go elsewhere.
The Jaylen "foul" was bogus, though. That's incidental contact that has been let go all game long. Simply no consistency.
$%&**$####@@@@@!!!!My man! So am I.

Except the other 9 times that type of contact was let go this game?
Yes, the missed layups and dunks hurt, but man that Morris 4-point play being taken away looks real brutal now.if the celtics play well, it is a close game. they missed easy shots, blame the celtics.

Whatever happened to playoffs being allowed to be more physical? Oh.....that's right it can't happen if leroid loses.
Come on. You never get away with running and chest bumping someone three feet above the three-point line. No, that was rather obvious and totally unnecessary. It's going to get called 10 times out of 10.Jaylen commits some of the dumbest fouls I've ever seen.

OK, so Scott Foster made that call, for all the conspiracy theorists out there...
we are in the bonus, attack the rim the rest of the quarter...
fts are points with no clock running

They just can't get over the hump. Too many bad plays and missed opportunities.

Why the crap is Smart still chucking threes??
Would be nice if these guys decide to swallow their whistles in the 4Q and let the players play a little.
That looks like it's game. Smart's sequences killed us.
I hate Smart's iso's. I don't care if he has a mismatch. If he isn't PnRing to drive and pass, then just pass the ****n ball.
Just gave the game back in the last couple of minutes. Had it to 8.
Marcus Smart is just so bad at everything that has to do with putting the ball in the hoop. I just can't believe he keeps launching 3s.Yeah, he absolutely just stops the offence. See ya marcus
And what a way to finish a hard fought quarter...very disappointing effort and decision making these past couple of minutes.
correct me if I'm wrong, but if you hit the hand when shooting, that's a foul. am I missing something there?it's a foul
Man all that work in the 3rd, wasted in the last 90 seconds.
It's been out of reach since the first quarter.Would be nice if these guys decide to swallow their whistles in the 4Q and let the players play a little.
Wait until its out of reach.....
13 down going into the 4th. It’s not out of the realm of possibility, let’s see what our team is made of
wasted opportunityIf it goes 7 the rest of the Cavs will show up and I wouldn't bet against LeBron.
We've been in the bonus for a long time in both the 2nd and 3rd, yet we keep jacking up iso-3s or long 2's smh.
well we better hope we can flip a switch and win at home games 5 and 7
we wont win game 6 if we cant win this one. cavs were prime to only win one at home.
ok, just wanted to make sure there wasn't a rule change I hadn't heard ofcorrect me if I'm wrong, but if you hit the hand when shooting, that's a foul. am I missing something there?it's a foul
The problem is the refs are swallowing their whistles because of king james
Korver has more heart and grit than our whole team combined right now
Man all that work in the 3rd, wasted in the last 90 seconds.
yup
Cleveland just wants this game. Period.
We've been in the bonus for a long time in both the 2nd and 3rd, yet we keep jacking up iso-3s or long 2's smh.
Driving more doesn't help if the refs aren't calling anything. All it results in is missed dunks/layups through contact
Marcus Smart just can't figure out when not to shoot the ball.
still is winnable. but they have to execute and shooter almost perfectly to do so. doable.Cleveland just wants this game. Period.
this game was winnable for us. we were not prepared two games in a row. unacceptable. too little too late now. we need to attack all game next game and keep lebron OPOUTSIDE
Trying to do too much isn't effort, it's dumb basketball.Korver has more heart and grit than our whole team combined right now
I think the effort is there tonight, they're just not executing.
If you want to beat LeBron...you might need Kawhi.if we had kyrie and Hayward, this game wouldn't even be close. Kyrie puts up buckets and if he was cold we'd have Hayward doing it
The largest caveat is the Cavs turnovers.hes not they know how important this game is expect him to play the rest of the way. Also he’s just roaming on defense need to find a way to find the open man somebody’s gotta be open
But the Celtics have competed since the lead got to 19 and that's not good enough obviously, but it's better than rolling over and dying. Which they have time to do, but hopefully LeBron takes a break.
It’s looking like Celtics in 7sounds about right. i'll take that. ;D
If you want to beat LeBron...you might need Kawhi.

Are we gonna give Horford a pass? He’s invisible somebody put him on a milk carton this is ridiculous. I could live with his misses demand the [dang] ball though and at least try to go to work

Rozier with the quick YMCA 3-PT shot and miss
Just chuck them away, Rozier.. Not like Brad is going to do anything about it anyways...
How about you flex when we get it down to a two-possession game?
Marcus Smart is just so bad at everything that has to do with putting the ball in the hoop. I just can't believe he keeps launching 3s.

BAYNES cleared the lane!!keep doing that Baynes
Get rozier the hell out of there!!!
Just chuck them away, Rozier.. Not like Brad is going to do anything about it anyways...
Still in this. Don't start playing stupid
It's not over yet!

Take it to Love, get him out of the game.
BIG AL!!!More of this please
Take it to Love, get him out of the game.THIS.or do the Paul pierce pump fake foul
8 points. doable folks.

WE WANT LARKIN! LOL
He doesn't chuck shots like rozier
He does the smart pass or lob
Notice how those scores had nothing to do with rozier and smart
These 2 are killing us on offense with their low iq moves

yep, and that gives me a lot of hope for this series.8 points. doable folks.
we just getting teased. a good start and we should be winning.

Really, run Horford off a screen for a wing three, that's the play?
Just chuck them away, Rozier.. Not like Brad is going to do anything about it anyways...
JP, when are you interviewing for a coaching vacancy?
Soon. Funnily enough, it's right about the time you start teaching that seminar on "Coaching Apologism 101" at the local university. ;)
OH MY GOD!
Aaron Baynes had a FREE LANE! Ugh!
That was clearly on Lebron, but okay
We got it to 7 with more than 5. Close enough.Back to 11
We are in this!
Why take Baynes out!?He's making it too tough on the Cavs to make uncontested putbacks.
Good timeout Brad. Need a bucket here to stay in this. We're not really in this, but sure.
Why take Baynes out!?He's making it too tough on the Cavs to make uncontested putbacks.
Tatum is freaking killing us. Doesn't rebound the freaking ball on one end, and then puts up no freaking effort defensively against Lebron on the other end. Try and take a charge or foul the **** out of Lebron and make him earn it at the stripe..LeBron in the open court...forget about it. It's 2 points.
From 7 to 11 in a millisecond. Need to score.
That's it, take out Baynes becase we're getting too many rebounds otherwise. Jeezus.
Why did Brad take Baynes out? He would have been boxing love out on that playI assume he needed a blow. He's not exactly a model for stamina. But still...
And there goes that lead again.
It all started because of the lack of rebounding.
Good timeout Brad. Need a bucket here to stay in this. We're not really in this, but sure.
2 more and they're done.Good timeout Brad. Need a bucket here to stay in this. We're not really in this, but sure.
Every time I think maybe I should tune in the game balloons to double digits again.

We blew it. We had so many chances to take this game.

as expected. par for course

I’m happier with the fight we showed in the second half though. It’s should at least give us some confidence going into game five. Our habit of starting slow killed us againfight has been better this game. stupidity has been off the charts though. as a wise man once said, you can't cure stupid

Funny thing is, that's what the Golden st. Warriors will do to the Cavs.
Everyone think baynes starts next game?

SHOOT THE EFFING BALL AS SOON AS YOU CATCH IT, TATUM!! Stop freaking holding it and forcing crap that isn't there!
Everyone think baynes starts next game?
Refs don't want us to get this oneThey sure don't
Refs don't want us to get this oneNo, we don't want to get this one. p--- away half a quarter of work in 15 seconds... multiple times... isn't going to win you many games.
Best player in the NBA -- by far tonight.Which ref are you talking about?
Did we ever get working eight? I don’t see how we had many chances to win the game.We blew it. We had so many chances to take this game.
Yep.
Should be Baynes in there instead of Morris
It's like every time they get it close they make two bone head plays
Best player in the NBA -- by far tonight.
gonna have to win TWO huge games at home now. forget game 6 this was ripe for the taking, refs wont let us win game 6Awww, poor things. They should pack their little picnic blankets and go home then, I guess.
For $50, I would undercut James and end this series properly. That was a blatant offensive foul.I'd do it just for the sheer pleasure of it.
That's game. Rozier barely hit the rim on the open 3
Sit him

Game five pretty much the series.
Game five pretty much the series.I think they have win it in 6. They're not winning it in 7.
Off of Love but Cavs get the ball? They decided not to review the play
Off of Love but Cavs get the ball?
Game five pretty much the series. It is for us. But even if we win that one,we’ll have to win more more at home.
They can't review an out of bounds call unless it's in the last 2 minutes. This one happened at 2:01. It's that type of night.Off of Love but Cavs get the ball? They decided not to review the play
Theu couldn’t r view it.Off of Love but Cavs get the ball? They decided not to review the play
Lebron's really pushing Smart around. someone really needs to flatten Bron out. god I miss the 70's/80's where someone would take a swing at someone for that crap.

Me too, me too.
Just incredibly disheartening performance tonight. I haven't seen this team play so dumb for a long time. Just gave CLE the series imo. This was a winnable game and this team just made bone headed play after bone headed play. Lue out coaching the pants off Stevens was not something I expected this series.
Off of Love but Cavs get the ball? They decided not to review the play
after kyrie went down, if you told me we'd be tied 2-2 in the conference finals against the cavs with HC advantage, i'd have called you a liar
Did we ever get working eight? I don’t see how we had many chances to win the game.We blew it. We had so many chances to take this game.
Yep.
Pathetic effort for the second game in a row. Getting outworked and outhustled by guys that have been slugs all year like Korver, Hill and Thompson. Many here fail to give the Cavs credit. They're playing well, hustling and still have LeBron. Their rebounding really gives the Celtics problems.
Start Smart and Morris next game since they switch EVERYTHING
When a game is officiated like this and there's no chance of winning I turn it off. I don't owe the NBA or ESPN anything. If ESPN and the NBA can't give us legit officials I don't have to give them my eyeballs.
Not saying the Cavs didn't play better. But players know when they've been given a free ticket
Brad needs to seriously consider changing up the starting lineup for game 5.
Baynes has played really well. If they are starting Thompson, why not start baynes. Morris has been ineffective against lebron since game 1.

Gonna watch westworld after this and pretend this game never happened—The minutes til game 5 begins will be excruciatingly slow for me—-After this weekend, you actually want to watch Game 5? I'd rather watch baseball, I think.
Did we ever get working eight? I don’t see how we had many chances to win the game.We blew it. We had so many chances to take this game.
Yep.
Wouldn't that potential four point play have cut it to six?
Anyway, yeah, I think that they could have done a much better job when they kept cutting it to nine or ten, but poor shot selection, as usual, killed them. Sigh.
Lue > BS

I should've shut this off when they took The Morris 3 pointer away with the BS call....
Brown power dunk at the end
The Cavs were, in fact, quite horrible tonight. But we played a YMCA pickup game, so here we are.Did we ever get working eight? I don’t see how we had many chances to win the game.We blew it. We had so many chances to take this game.
Yep.

we had it to 7 even with all our issues and ref incompetence. oh well
maybe if we would not start so bad every game on the road
How many times is Lebron going to get away with nailing Smart in the face?
Lue > BS
Ugh and let me guess, Brothers for Game 5? :'(i think they'll save him for game 6 if we win game 5
after kyrie went down, if you told me we'd be tied 2-2 in the conference finals against the cavs with HC advantage, i'd have called you a liar
Nobody expected this. Hell winning the first two at home actually still gives them a chance. Cavs weren't going to lose either of their home games from the looks of it.

Yeah, that was the biggest play of the game IMO.
A weak win for a weak franchise. It's not about talent or heart, it's about getting viewers and selling Sprite ads. Par for the course in this league sadly.
Game five feels like a james destruction of Boston

I know they don’t but they do it’s ridiculous so might as well make that lineup switch so they aren’t hurt by itStart Smart and Morris next game since they switch EVERYTHING
we don't HAVE to switch everything. what happened to fight through a pick and not letting them have the matchup they want EVERY single time?
Game five feels like a james destruction of Boston
TT has been a real surprise in this seriesOnly when Baynes is sitting
No, they really won by 15. And then noone bothered to guard Brown in garbage time.Game five feels like a james destruction of Boston
Normally, I'd agree. But the guy had a 42 point triple double in Game 2 and lost, and tonight had a 44 point-game and Cavaliers won by 9 at home. We simply have to contain all their other threats and we got a good shot. Should be a fun, but nerve-wracking Game 5 lol.
Doris Day looks like my mothers friend who sometimes has too many drinks and remembers how pretty she was in her 20's
Didn't shoot well enough.
I actually like the Celtics in game 5...not happy about if there is a game 7 against the NBA's "greatest player" (I have to go spit up now).

I felt these two games were a chance to impose our will on the series and make it clear the Cavs can't win. Instead, we turned around, bent over, and let them back into the series. It was just dandy.'Pathetic effort for the second game in a row. Getting outworked and outhustled by guys that have been slugs all year like Korver, Hill and Thompson. Many here fail to give the Cavs credit. They're playing well, hustling and still have LeBron. Their rebounding really gives the Celtics problems.
That might have a little something to do with them going big and us refusing to respond and staying small, all while switching everything and gifting them mismatches to exploit left and right.

Deep down, I thought we'd lose by 10-15 points tonight even if we played better.
But it's unfortunate because we just shot ourselves in the foot way too many times and actually could have comeback (despite Lebron's 44). Oh well, on to Game 5!

Why play Horford 42 minutes and Baynes only 16. Semi also should've gotten more than 9 minutes and where was Yabu?

So we can all agree BS got out coached tonight. His rotations were trash. And he can't get his guys to play well on the road. Not the best coach in the league if you can't get a team to perform on the road against anyone.Disagree. The Cavs were by far the better team tonight. No combination on this roster the way they were playing tonight was going to get it done.

I'm more frustrated with the switching scheme than the staying small. I think that smaller lineup can still work against their bigger lineup if guys are hitting their shots, but that we kept up with the switching of Rozier on Bron and allowed single coverage for the vast majority of the last two games is just mind-boggling.
Brad needs to seriously consider changing up the starting lineup for game 5.Clearly adjustments mean little. All about home court.
Baynes has played really well. If they are starting Thompson, why not start baynes. Morris has been ineffective against lebron since game 1.
Huh? What adjustments have there been? We've been doing the same crap over and over again and expecting different results. Only in the latter stages of this half did we start doing anything different defensively.

Actually I think there were a lot of switches in Games 1 and 2 that worked pretty well and forced LeBron into bad shots. I don't mind the switches, just pack the paint and be ready to close out on shooters. You need effort from all 5 guys and it's going to work... except now you're perhaps getting effort from one guy. I mean, that's the thing - it has clearly not been working the entire series and was amplified in game 3, yet there still was no adjustment!
It's inexcusable that we didn't make any adjustments to that for game 4 and allowed them to abuse us in mismatches due to this scheme.

as mad as we all are about the C's not getting over the hump in any of these two road games, the bigger picture is much better. we really had no business making the east finals. So part of me is ok with whatever happens here on out.
But I really would like them to get game 5. Get that one game and give yourself 2 chances to win 1 game against the cavs and move on.
If we lose two in a row after that, probably have to accept that the Cavs with Lebron are just better. At the same time realize that KI, GH and Theis are all back next year, and we can learn from this.

I'd also say they should trap more. It's like a forgotten tactic for the C's going back to Doc. The biggest danger of setting a pick is the trap and we just never do it. A) LOL
B) How do those numbers look after tonight?
C) It's not even like they were forcing most of the switches; we were walking into half of them and giving them what they wanted without a fight. That's not the "spirit" or the point of switching; you still try to fight through it as much as possible and only switch when necessary.
So frustrating. That just reeks of a coach that is too invested in his own scheme/what the "analytics" tell him to see the empirical evidence right in front of him that contradicts his style.

I meant one guy at a time. Typically just the guy on the ball. so who do you think is the only guy giving effort on D? Because I saw a lot of guys giving effort. We just weren't playing with our brains enough.
If Boston continues to get down 8 plus points after one quarter they will not win the seriesIn good news, except for the last 7 minutes of the first half, this was a very even game. Except for that 23-8 run to end the first quarter, the Cs outscored Cleveland 94-88. I know...cherrypicking... but it gives me hope if the Cs just come to play for all 48, they can win this.

I dunno if it's Brad's fault if Brown doesn't fight past a screen to stay on LeBron and make sure Rozier isn't stuck with him. That's something Brown needs to learn. In the regular season you could bench him for that.
but now? It's too deep in the playoffs. And the team was at least somewhat unglued on the road again. The defensive focus isn't there like it will be once the young guys get more experience. Comes with the territory. But it should improve.

Questionable (abysmal) calls that went against us tonight:You're forgetting the Marcus Morris offensive because a Cav ran into his leg while shooting a three. A seldom called foul where during the season much, much worse stuff was continually called for the defender. Just a terrible call.
Rozier gets fouled and hits layup and gets NO continuation like James ALWAYS gets and we get ball out on side.
George Hill literally SHOVED Rozier about 5 feet beyond the three point line with BOTH hands and NO call and he passes and then just looks at the ref like what the heck.
Jaylen get raked on arm by Korver (clearly seen on replay) on a layup/drive and NO call.
The announcers talk about Tatum missing a dunk but Nance hacked him on the wrist (ONCE again CLEAR as a bell on the replay).
George Hill knocks Tatum sideways and off balance on his jump shot from 14 feet and no call.
Those are just a few.

Missed dunks, layups and free throws. We could have won that game.Yeah, I don't know what the breakdown is but the Cs from inside 5 feet were atrocious.

The guy that seems like he has changed the series is Tristan Thompson. He is just a celtic killer with the off rebounding, def plays, garbage offense. 13 points and 12 boards for him tonight. I don't see WHY we don't bring Baynes in to counter him? Horford for whatever reason has trouble with TT on him.
For game 5, bring Baynes in to start. Let Brown start on Lebron (especially at home he will do better on D against him). Let Morris and smart come in early as the first two off the bench (Rozier and Tatum to the bench). Stay big in the lane. Stay attached to their other guys and don't let them have easy shots. Lebron is going to score 40 on whomever guards him, it almost doesn't matter. Stop the other guys from beating us like we did in games 1 and 2.

The announcers talk about Tatum missing a dunk but Nance hacked him on the wrist (ONCE again CLEAR as a bell on the replay).
George Hill knocks Tatum sideways and off balance on his jump shot from 14 feet and no call.
Those are just a few.

You'realso firgetting the call where the Cavs threw the ball out of bounds where it hit a ref but Cleveland somehow kept possession. Clearly a terrible call.

I’ll just repurpose my ‘The Celtics need a lineup change’ story for Game 5.”

maybe it just feels like that lol

Questionable (abysmal) calls that went against us tonight:You're forgetting the Marcus Morris offensive because a Cav ran into his leg while shooting a three. A seldom called foul where during the season much, much worse stuff was continually called for the defender. Just a terrible call.
Rozier gets fouled and hits layup and gets NO continuation like James ALWAYS gets and we get ball out on side.

Thanks for refreshing my memory Nick!! I do think Morris kicked out his leg and that was a foul, BUT he had released the ball PRIOR to that, therefore the three SHOULD have counted!!

Missed dunks, layups and free throws. We could have won that game.Yeah, I don't know what the breakdown is but the Cs from inside 5 feet were atrocious.

Tatum blew some easy layups and also threw some ugly shots on mid-range jumpers when he was trying to draw fouls. Gotta just go for the shot and play through the contact, don't expect a call.

So you do not think that George Hill made extreme contact with his shoulder on Tatum on that late 14 foot leaner??? It is sort of difficult to play through contact when you are knocked sideways in the air in the middle of your jump shot!!!

Starters
Smart, Brown, Morris, Horford, Baynes.
Rozier comes in when Brown or Smart leave.
Tatum comes in when Morris or Horford leave.
Semi comes in if some one is in foul trouble only.
I'm guessing the concussion was the reason why LeBron lost Game 2....
If that.Let me repeat myself: Brad doesn't do adjustments! He needs three days to mull it over, because he's "cerebral". Unfortunately, an NBA game lasts 48 minutes so that's too bad for him...I'd like to see someone ask Brad about that post game.'Pathetic effort for the second game in a row.
I mean, that's the thing - it has clearly not been working the entire series and was amplified in game 3, yet there still was no adjustment!
It's inexcusable that we didn't make any adjustments to that for game 4 and allowed them to abuse us in mismatches due to this scheme.
Yeah, switches with the swings or bigs (or Smart), which nobody is really complaining about, as they can hold their own.
The last two games they consistently tried to switch Rozier on either Lebron or the bigs, which clearly hasn't worked at all as that's just too much of a mismatch to overcome.
That's not really true though. They're not forcing the switch at all. We are just refusing to fight through / go under the pick. Wow. You are so missing this. The Celtics did not try to switch Rozier onto Lebron. The Cavs are forcing the mismatch. They aren't running a pick with Tatum's man. They run the pick with George Hill. This isn't a question of Brad trying to put Rozier on Lebron, this is a question of the Cavs trying to create a mismatch. Pretty much how all basketball teams work. This is basketball 101.
In fact, Brad made the adjustment with Horford as the help defender off of the switch when Jaylen had to make the switch, with Terry being forced to identify and close out on the open man.

The adjustment on the switch, without abandoning the switch, was made in the second half. Boneheaded plays by Rozier and Smart cost us the game. Not the switching. It actually brought us back into the game.

Heart says we win a close one, head says we lose by 8-14 points.
Can't count this as a W just because it is at home...this is the type of game LBJ has always stolen from the Cs
You would've thought that we were at an advantage with rozier on lebron the way he was just forcing the switch. Rozier has done this all year. Instead of fighting through weak screens he switches onto the other guy way to early and without any resistance to the screen. Or the time when love clearly hits the ball out of bounds 3 feet in front of bill Kennedy and he still says Cavs ball.
