I really hope this is a wild rumor that has little substance, but as reported on ESPN today,

I do not want that fragile head case on a team that has worked its way through chemistry issues and seems to be in sync now.
Plus the offer would include possibly giving away as many as 5 draft picks including three first round unprotected. Of course, maybe Celtic management knows more than we do. Maybe Brad has talked to Jaylen Brown and his rumored discontent is very real.

I think if you are Celtics you are buying low on KD or not at all. Something like,

Smart, JB and a single pick swap for KD.


You also have to stay in the conversation to see what happens with Simmons. If Heat send Bam for KD then Simmons needs to be shipped out. C's may like

White and Al
for
Curry and Simmons.

Are either of those good trades?

That KD trade leaves them with,
White, Brogdon, Tatum, KD, TL
PP, Ryan, Grant, Gallo, AL

Simmons deal leaves,
Smart, JB, JT, Simmons, TL
Brog, Curry, Grant, Gallo, Kornet


The Heat, Nets, C's three way would be
KD and Al to Heat.
Simmons and Curry to C's.
Lowry, White, Bam, Herro and Heat picks to Nets.

Buy-low on 10/10/22, less than a dozen weeks from now when Gallo becomes available to trade:

BOS In: KD
BKN In: JB, Gallinari, filler, multiple picks/swaps

If JB has aspirations of being the King of New York, it’s not a bad bet by Brooklyn, especially if they end up stuck with Kyrie and he tells them he’ll about face if they bring in JB. A core of JB/Kyrie/Simmons and a bunch of picks is not so bad.

Meanwhile, we head into the season with these nine-man rotations and a legend in KD that JT can further model in taking his game to the next level:

I don't think that's reporting anything that we don't already know. This has been around at least since KD's trade desire was announced. Woj is very careful to differentiate his scoops and actual reporting from his speculation. I'm sure the Cs reached out to kick the tires on KD, which Brad should as part of any due diligence, but they're probably unwilling to pay the price that Brooklyn wants, which is a package including JB, and I can understand why. I wouldn't pay it either, even for KD. But people love hypothesizing and fantasizing about trades, that's part of what makes the NBA offseason fun. There hasn't been any KD news for a week so they need to keep things going

Nothing we haven't heard before and nothing new, or surprising. We have assets of value to Brooklyn so we will always be linked to these things. Just filling space on the website IMO. I would be amazed if anything came of this. But it's always fun for people (*cough* Greenly *cough*) to speculate, it's the off season after all

I’m less enthusiastic about a KD trade now that we don’t have the TPE.

Assuming the team thought moving on from JB made sense, I liked Brown + Grant + PP + picks for KD + Curry.

Now, we can’t take back Curry.
