So the Pacers now have

G: Haliburton, McConnell
G: Hield, Mathurin
F: Duarte, Nesmith
F: Jalen Smith
C: Myles Turner, Theis

Not too bad. Not good either; not a playoff team. Another solid PF would go a long way to being a more respectable 28-32 win team rather than a 24-26 win team.
Id move Turner if possible. He could land a 1st and young backup big behind Theis.

Sacramento's team now looks like

G: De'Aaron Fox, Davion Mitchell
G: Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk
F: Harrison Barnes, Terrence Davis
F: Keegan Murray
C: Domantas Sabonis, Richaun Holmes

Or maybe they stay big with both Holmes and Sabonis starting with Keegan Murray coming off the bench.

I'd like Terrence Davis on the Celtics. I think he is a nice player. An athletic 6-4 SG with muscle who plays bigger than he is (on D). He can shoot and defend. He'd be a nice two way wing off the bench.

SAC has a fair bit of decent talent and some depth but short on difference makers. Not sure about Fox and Sabonis as your 2 best players. Harrison Barnes is more like a 4th or 5th best player; not your 3rd best player.

They need Keegan Murray to be solid. They are way too small at forward if he can't be a solid contributor from Day One. And I am not convinced by Sabonis & R.Holmes gelling well together as twin bigs. So that frontcourt is likely to have issues and disappoint.

Even with Malcolm Brogdon addition, Marcus Smart remains Celtics' 'unquestioned' starting point guard

A team source stressed Friday Marcus Smart remains the Celtics’ unquestioned starting point guard, and that the team was simply looking to add depth. Brogdon and Gallinari both had starring roles, but they’re willing to step back in order to pursue championships. – via Boston Globe

The Celtics still have other assets at their disposal, as their $17.1 million trade exception that expires July 18 was not used in the Brogdon deal. But a league source said the team is now unlikely to use that to acquire another substantial piece. The source said the Celtics had actively pursued trades involving the exception over the past two weeks, but ultimately the deal involving Brogdon, whose salary was too large to fit into the exception, turned out to be the best option. – via Boston Globe

This seems reasonable regarding the TPE.  They got their big piece in the Brogdon trade by shipping out Theis and others.  Nesmith still has some promise but you can find guys like him.  We end up in a much better place after this trade than if we had used the TPE for a lesser player (no way to get Brogdon with the TPE).  I am sure there will be posts bemoaning the "cheap" owners when the TPE expires but this is actually a terrific outcome for the Celtics even considering we had to give up Nesmith.  We still have until Jul 18 if someone wants to offer us a useful player to fit the TPE, and we should be open to that kind of surprise deal, but it is pretty unlikely at this point.

The other key statement is that Smart is still the lead PG.  It is good they put that out there.  I am sure Smart is both glad to hear that put out there but also enough of a veteran to understand that if some team offers a silly good deal for Smart, the team will of course still trade Smart or White or anyone else.

So the current tally is:

In:
JD Davison
Gallinari
Brogdon

Out:
Theis
Nesmith
Stauskas
Fitts
Morgan

None of the outgoing players played more than a handful of meaningful minutes in the playoffs.  Theis and Nesmith a few here and there but only due to injury.  We really have given up very little and got back a couple of big improvements if you consider it as Gallinari replacing Theis and Brogdon replacing Nesmith.

Our starters are still the same but we now have Brogdon as the 6th man and Gallinari as the 7th, bumping White to 8th, Grant to 9th, and Pritchard to 10th.  All positions 6-10 are significantly improved.  Exactly what we need to address.  And we have a ton of flexibility to fill slots 11-15 hopefully with some upside young players.  Hauser is likely one of these, Kornet too I guess, maybe Brodric Thomas.  Maybe we get Bryant or someone like him.  All looks good.

Yup exactly. Letting the Fournier TPE expire doesn't mean they are losing something if they got what they wanted.   ;) 8)

The Suns-Jazz-Nets trade that's been floated involving Durant looks very interesting

Basically it'd have Mitchell going to BKN, Simmons going to Utah, KD to Phoenix, and obviously there'd be a handful of players + a ton of picks involved as well.

That actually seems to make sense IMO especially if Utah is really going into a bit of a rebuild with all the picks and also taking a bit of a gamble with Simmons. Utah isn't a big market like LA or NY or PHI so maybe Simmons thrives there?

Nets get Mitchell, a lot of picks and still have some young building blocks to try and build with going forward.

Have to see the breakdown as it doesn't make sense for Jazz. PHX picks would be garbage and Nets have no picks so what are Jazz getting?

John Butler to play on the Pels summer league team. I was hoping for him on our summer league team...

Yeah, you know there’s no way Ainge trades Mitchell without getting a huge return.

That would be nasty! How on Earth can Heat get both with barely any worthy assets?

Yeah I was going to say how the hell can they pull that off??

Also Herro to me the most overrated asset talked about IMO.

They can't. Not with the amount of assets they have, and not with Danny Ainge.

Do you really think that the guy who just got 5 1sts and multiple rotation players for Gobert is going to take anything less?

Riley has been very quiet. Heat haven’t made one move and are worse right now then they were last year. Their fans are losing their minds, Riley has to have something up his sleeve.

It's just his arm...
