Ideally, he takes a 2-way for a year or two, and then we can lock him up with a four year MLE deal right at the minimum.
My feeling is the contract status will be partly decided based on summer league and partly based on free agency. Presumably the C’a will be able to find someone to spend the entirety of their MLE on, but if not, they could use that to sign him to a four-year, mostly not guaranteed deal. Depending if/how they use the TPE, that could make for significant tax savings compared to a vet minimum contract for the same roster spot.
