Adrian Wojnarowski: Detroit has traded Jerami Grant to Portland for 2025 first-round pick via Milwaukee, sources tell ESPN.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Detroit swaps 2022 second-round picks — getting 36 for 46 — with Portland, too. Detroit gets a 2025 second-round pick back from Portland, and Portland sends the most favorable 2026 second-round pick between Portland and New Orleans to Detroit, sources said. – via Twitter wojespn

Adrian Wojnarowski: The 2025 first-round pick via Milwaukee is protected Nos. 1-4, sources said. Detroit sends Grant into a $21M trade exception, and Pistons now have $43 million in salary cap space for free agency.

I saw this real quick on Twitter and thought it said Grant was going to Milwaukee, and said Oh poop(the adult version). Good for Portland, must be an other player going back though.

Seems like a crap return for DET.

Why did nobody beat that offer?

He would've been great here for that bargain basement price.

Brian Robb on Monday said Cs had the second-largest TPE and given that Portland needed a bigger one to land Grant, it appears that we now have the largest TPE remaining for anyone looking to create more cap space for free agency. By all accounts, there are not many teams with cap space, so the Cs TPE could be in demand.

Like it for both teams and Grant.

Blazers needed a dynamic wing and the cost was cheap. They bought low.

Pistons want picks, cap space and more wiggle room to tank another year.

Grant gets a shot at being in the playoffs and earning a big payday.

Grant will be 29 next season and DET isn't close to being competitive.

And he's going to want to get PAID next summer.

I would of offered

Theis, Nesmith, Pricthard, Stauskas

for

Grant, Olynyk, Joseph

it would of saved I believe Pistons more money and the trade would of be executable in the new NBA year if the Celtics used their trade exceptions to absorb Olynyk and Joseph and guaranteed Stauskas contract. I would of offered a pick aswell from the Celtics perspective.

Detroit has significant cap space. Maybe to sign Ayton to max offer sheet.

Seems like a cheapish return, but his salary was a weird in-between one. Nice for Portland
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I was thinking the same thing. Ayton, Cunningham, Bey, the #5 pick this year. Not a bad core to build around at all.

That would be an interesting remake of Portland’s roster.

That would be fantastic. That could put a title contender together there if they can pull that off.

Anunoby and Jerami Grant would be the best forward combination they have had since Aldridge and Batum. Great combo to have next to Lillard.

Let's not get all hyperbolic. Even with Grant and Anunoby, that Portland team is not getting anywhere near home court advantage in the playoffs out West. They're probably playing in the play-in.
