Once free agency gets going we can probably consolidate some of these rumors, but for now things are quiet enough for individual threads.

Quote
Fred Katz: I’ve heard the Knicks have been making a legitimate effort to move Alec Burks with the hopes of taking back little-to-no salary. The news about his surgery for sure affects his value. If healthy, Burks is considered around a net-neutral contract. He makes $10M expiring next year.

I guess a trade would be TPE for Burks + #2?

He's not a sexy name, but he definitely fills a need for us. If we could go back to the deadline and complete this deal, we might have a Title right now. I also like that you have a #2 coming to us, the fact that he has a team option for 2023, and that we would still have a little money left under the TPE.

I think we'll shop our TPE (free cap space) around to see what the best offer is. If multiple teams want to clear cap space, it might work out in our favor.

He's the kind of guy who you consider after you miss out on other higher end options. AKA a fall back plan. not a terrible one, but not a guy you jump at immediately.

Yeah, I'd rather not sign an injured player.

Would be dependent on our medical staff giving the okay. I like Burks, and he has a good offensive game that our bench craves. But he has a significant injury history
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I heard this weekend we wanted one of the first rounders the Knicks have to take on Burks.

Side note: Burks is a St Louis guy. Tatum is his son's god father.

I'd rather grab Rose.

Man, D-Rose would be pretty dang good. That 3rd scorer we need. Instant offense off the bench. Shot creator. Playmaker. Also physically powerful PG who maintains that physical identity and switchable defense.

Yeah, I like Rose over Burks or Fournier. He fills more of a need than either one of those guys.

Our version of Vinnie Johnson.

Let's say these two offers are on the table:

Burks + two NYK #2s for TPE

Richardson for TPE + two BOS #2s

Which would you prefer?

Richardson easily -- especially since I think he'd have been more effective in the playoffs than the person we acquired

Yeah, he's proven to be effective here. That is a big plus for Josh Richardson. Burks not only does not have that but has a patchy record throughout his career of being effective / ineffective in different places. Highly inconsistent player. Definitely Richardson over Burks.
