I really want this one! I hope the bench shows up. Can’t have Thon Maker dominating us. And someday, Tatum will start getting calls
Defense has to win this game. If it does not travel then it will be tied

It would help if they figured out how to make it tougher on Middleton

THONG MAKER
win this or i will venture to guess this will go 7 games. If we cannot win today i see no reason we would win a game 6 in milwaukee. we need to close this out in 5!

Yep. Lose today and to me game 5 becomes the key game. Whoever wins that one wins the series
Gotta finish at the rim
I can’t wait to see how good Tatum becomes
I wish teams would stop these lobs on the fastbreak. That has injury written all over it, and it seems the defenses always know it's coming anymore.
The Bucks don't seem to have the same energy they had in game 3.
The C's look much more engaged.
I want to see a big game from Morris after his dud last game.
Love what Milwaukee is getting away with down there ::) Even Brad was raging over that.
Why should we continue to attack the basket when they're getting away with all kinds of contact defensively? What a joke, especially considering that the standard was the exact opposite last game.
Rozier can't play like this.
Monroe is gonna get a T today.
W T F DID I JUST SEE?
My God, just how freaking dumb can you be, guys? Our entire bench unit has been complete TRASH today. What a joke.
W T F DID I JUST SEE?
Worst play of theplayoffsseason so far.
We're playing stupid basketball out here.
Pathetic. Our bench is killing us.
With regards to the Han Solo movie there's only one thing I care about...to see if he actually DID make the Kessel run in 12 Parsecs.Ahem.....LESS than 12 parsecs. LEEEESSSSSS
Great, morris is on heroin. Besides the **** moment, ha has not passed the ball once the whole game!!!!Hate to say that, but it seems that a bunch of our guys reverted to the players we thought they would be?
Well, Rozier has been complete dog **** since game 3.

We are not breaking down this Bucks defense. This is going to be a long day.
We did that most of Game 1 too, but I talked myself into the idea that we had fixed it. Too soon.We are not breaking down this Bucks defense. This is going to be a long day.
we are back to playing stupid. not moving ball and exploiting weak spots inside or out
Brad is trying a different look with Yabu. Let's see how it goes.

Even just having Marcus Smart would help us out so much. His playmaking and overall effect on the intensity of the team would be so beneficial.Having Marcus Smart will be beneficial because they won't have to play Ojeleye. Other than that... I think the rest of them are doing just fine making up for he bricks he's not tossing right now ;)

even when the C's get to the rim, they're not finishing. All they can do is shot jumpersAnd they're getting layups.
Morris has been absolute trash playing in Milwaukee. That’s Morris! He gets hot for 2-3 games ... and back to normal
Every score for us is a fight .
And comes with ease for them .
I didn't have any lofty expectations from the start, but the way this blog has turned from too confident to sky is falling is more of an embarrassment than the C's performance. As CBS often says, the C's (even as constituted) are not as good as their best performance or as bad as their worst. I'm willing to let this play out -- not counting them in or out.too early to count them out but not too early to get aggravated with stupid/lazy play
Philly and Bucks are out of our league. They have another gear that without our full complement if players can’t reach
Without Brown this would be 30 pt lead.
Al is a NO SHOW ON OFFENSE.
IM STARTING TO BELIEVE THIS MIGHT BE BUCKS IN 6.
Bucks are able to play us well in our homecourt while they are just blowing us out in theirs.

Young players and most bench units don't play well on the road. Luckily we have home court advantage still. Just hold out until Smart gets back and defend home court.
Get it within 10 before the half. Its go8ng the wrong direction.
Tatum's still a rookie so I'm not as hard on him. Rozier and Morris, not so much. Larkin has been just awfulWithout Brown this would be 30 pt lead.

As much as I like this team...they have a lot of role players thrust into bigger roles. And role players on the road always don’t play wellYeah, starting with Al Horford, unfortunately.

NOT HAPPENING!
Everybody but Al and Jaylen should be ashamed of themselves, especially Terry.well we probably won't have to worry about another team giving the type of offer reserved for starting PGs when he becomes a RFA
I hope Brad Stevens is ripping into this team at halftime. NO MERCY BRAD, NO MERCY!!

Im not sure if Smart can already handle starting minutes immediately after a long layoff.
Rozier, Tatum, Monroe and Morris have been absolutely horrible in Milwaukee. We need some of those guys to step up if we want to avoid another blowout.
I'm still confident that we can make this a game and steal the win, though.
Let's go Cs!
Also, why do our guys not know how to up-fake on Maker?

I think I'm ready to be done watching this team.
The Bucks are awful, and the Celts should beat the Bucks even with all their injuries, but I'm ready to be done watching this team.
Just ugly basketball right now. Too depleted to maintain an offense I want to watch.

People forget because he came up big in the last six minutes of game 1, but Rozier was putrid the vast majority of that game, too. Dude has largely been a net negative the majority of this series, but somehow he's got significant hype this series.

I'm not saying we do. Just reiterating the fact that Rozier has been trash most of this series, but somehow he received a ton of hype after the first two wins in Boston, primarily because he hit a big shot at the end of regulation in game 1 and had a good overall game 2.
Can't believe I stayed up for this game. its 2:36am now. Should I just sleep? The Celtics already beat me to it.

It's not asking too much of Rozier to make his wide open threes. Pathetic from him.
Nice 6-0 run. We still have a pulse.
Yes, Ed Maloy, clearly Tatum had NO CONTACT at all for a foul there.
I'm sure you would've made the exact same call if Giannis or Middleton did the same thing on the other end. ::)

Bucks win a close one in game five
Close it out in game six
Boston looks like they have nothing left to give
I'm so over Brad spreading minutes to the Bench. Play the starters so we can have a rhythm. Every time you put in a bench player you lose all that momentum. Especially since the Bucks bench has some semblance of skill.
BTW what did you the team focus on for the last 36 hours? because I'm not sure they learned a [dang] thing. In that mic'd up segment, between the always irritating babble of Hubie "the knowledgeable basketball analyst" Brown, Stevens said they started letting the ball stick with too many isolations. This is the most fundamental part of team basketball they just don't understand. Pass the ball before the defense can reset itself, you do that enough and the defense is out of position. Combine it with movement and you should get easy shots.
But no! The Celtics aren't going to do that because they believe they know what's best when in reality they've lost touch with their responsibilities because they've made a couple big shot.
Too simplified. First, Rozier is an up and down shooter. So can’t be surprised that he’s not able to do that sometimes. Second, there is a whole lot more on him than just getting wide open threes. He doesn’t have the ability to be good, or even average as a starter in a playoff series. No, not really. This is what happens when you ask a guy to do more than he’s capable of doing. Inconsistent, bad results. Bench guys thrive when the attention is on the stars.Rozier and Morris are bench players. You should blame them either. The same goes for Morris, too, along with both of them playing smart and to discontinue the atrocious decision-making.
I'd rather just have Brown or Tatum handle the ball, that or play through Horford in the post. Rozier's PnR play is so subpar that he doesn't warrant the reps that he gets. Ends up overdribbling and getting nothing for it.

I still think Boston in 7. This has the 2017 Eastern Conference Semifinals written all over it where the home team wins every game. Without Kyrie and Hayward (and Smart), these two teams are so evenly matched that home court plays a major role in the game, especially with us given that our role players (who make up the vast majority of the team now) play so much better at home than on the road. Also, don't forget that we'll most likely be getting Smart back either on Tuesday or Thursday, too, so that should significantly help with the guard rotations, which is currently killing us.
Yes, Ed Maloy, clearly Tatum had NO CONTACT at all for a foul there.
I'm sure you would've made the exact same call if Giannis or Middleton did the same thing on the other end. ::)
It's like there are two games being played, one where the refs are letting everything go and another where they're calling everything. It's ridiculous.
I think I'm ready to be done watching this team.

It is rough. Seems like they have hit their ceiling. I am about ready to turn the page to next year. Just not a lot of anything
if the C's pull this series outtoday, it'll be on the backs of Horford, Brown and Tatum
Why, Brad? In the middle of a 20-6 run, and you go into a four-deep bench unit?? ****?

Yep, good one Brad. Let's not even try and stagger them a bit more. Let's just go four freaking deep with the bench unit, including two very inexperienced players in Semi and Yabu >:(

I'm glad Monroe didn't play in the third. I hope he doesn't play in the 4th.

I love his energy on the bench. Can't wait til he is back.

Yeah, just too slow. His only potential matchup is Zeller, who I don't expect to play again this game.
sadly this series has not gone well for him. I think he'll present a better matchup against the Sixers should we get that far (which we should)I'm glad Monroe didn't play in the third. I hope he doesn't play in the 4th.

OMG smart just screaming after Jaylen nailing that 3. Awesome
We found our matchup for Thon, it's Baynes.
Thon Maker got NOTHING on Aron Baynes.
And that Jaylen Brown kid sparking a fire!
Jaylen just became untouchable....
Danny drafted a star in Jaylen Brown. The kid's terrific.agreed. watching him this season I can't help but remember so many people screaming on draft night when Danny passed on Dunn. Right now, I can't help but see a star in the making with this kid. The future is bright with him and Tatum
We found our matchup for Thon, it's Baynes.
I love how Baynes is totally disrespecting his shot, too. He's just about sitting in the paint while Thon is wide open at the 3 point line

Maker has fouled him 5 times in the last 2 minutes.
Baynes got fouled on that dunk by the way.
Brown and Tatum are shouldering the whole scoring load. Baynes and Horford are playing well in their roles. Rozier can't throw it in the ocean, but he's doing okay otherwise.
That's our lineup - the starters. The bench is giving us zilch today.
Baynes got fouled on that dunk by the way.
Made Thon "Meet His" Maker.
BIG MOOOOO!
Larkin falling there is the reason that Morris had the open shot. Awesome

Nothing hate more on this team then when the ball gets swung to Morris with 12 seconds left and he goes into triple threat stance. Right then you know nobody else is touchingly the ball nomatter what. And can we please get Brown the ball of a screen he sets and let him drive that's when good thing happen. Instesd we aren't letting slippery feet Larkin pound the ball for most the shot clock up top.i know, and he will do that time and time again. when he is hot, okay. but even if he isnt he keeps shooting.

Someone needs to let him know he is allowed to gain weight.
NBA refs are inconsistent fools... but we already knew that
Rozier should be a spot up shooter in the 4th. Haven't been impressed with a single pick and roll he's run.he and Larkin have been a real achilles heel as PGs today. a handful of decent plays aren't making up for a game full of bad plays
Yeah, nice comeback but it will be for naught.
Refs controlled the game with those last few calls.
Such horse****. These refs are on one. Rozier gets laid out on a three - no call. Middleton gets bumped a little - definitely a call.
OMG. I just want to smack Rozier.
Brown has become a man in this series.Do you suppose if Kawhi were playing in this game right now that he'd have 31 points? Or do you suppose he'd be sitting like a quitter or an invalid?
that's what my wife said. she's since left the room ;DOMG. I just want to smack Rozier.

[dang] Jaylen.
THIS IS SUCH EFFING BS! HOW IS THAT NOT A FOUL FOR BROWN?!
Ugh unfortunate turnover for Brown leading to a Brogdon 3...Easy solution for this, don't go one on three.

Middleton clearly got him on the arm there.
However, why the hell we were pushing it there is beyond me...
Excellent play. We’ll get another shot no matter what!If we get the DR that is.

Go for the win
This is where Brad makes his money. Go for 2 here, we have the momentumAgreed
Reba's not the worst Colonel Sanders of all time by any means. or is she?
Celtics totally blew this. Now they have to earn it to win this series.
Confetti for tying the series?lol

really? with the way Brown and Tatum have been shooting (and Al), they go with ice-cold Morris?
Confetti? Did they win the Superbowl?

GOOD GRIEF BROWN
BUTTERFINGERS MUCH??????????????
wasted a possession
That is the most stupid possession in the Brad stevens era.
Why not go with JB. Or just draw the same play with Al.
Well Brown is turning into super star before our eyes-21 years old
Reba's not the worst Colonel Sanders of all time by any means. or is she?
Disappointing that they chose to go to Morris on the most important possession of the game. Not getting the ball in the hands of Horford, Brown, or Tatum is a mistake, plain and simple.
I’d like to see the replay on the Jaylen steal. Would be very surprised if it was all ball.So I just looked at the replay and Jaylen was CLEARLY fouled.
exchange Brown or Tatum for where Morris was on the floor for that play or set better screens to get them open. Morris may not have been option 1 but they should have worked harder to get the ball to someone who had a hotter hand than Morrisreally? with the way Brown and Tatum have been shooting (and Al), they go with ice-cold Morris?
What are you talking about? They were guarded. Every Brad play has options. I guarantee you that was not option 1. Geez, this board....
That was a decent look.
So we aren't in OT because we rolled a ball right to Dellevedova for him to pick up and score 2 right before half.
That p!sses me off.
Fantastic comeback attempt
Its all good
That is the most stupid possession in the Brad stevens era.
Why not go with JB. Or just draw the same play with Al.
Nota good play call.In fairness, there isn't much you can run with 5 seconds on the clock. But I'd have liked to have this shot go to someone else instead. Heck, I'd have even preferred a three-pointer for the win.
Worst play call ever. I was expecting a 3 pt attempt for the win but a play with that difficulty fir a tie? Horrible. Wish we made those early free throws now huh?
Well Brown is turning into super star before our eyes-21 years old
So much for having an elite ATO coach. What a dumb, dumb final play decision.
This team is so frustrating right now. Poor decision-making by both the players and the coaching lost us this game down the stretch.
So we aren't in OT because we rolled a ball right to Dellevedova for him to pick up and score 2 right before half.amazing how that really stupid play came back to bite them in the butt but that will get overlooked in the end.
That p!sses me off.
THIS IS SUCH EFFING BS! HOW IS THAT NOT A FOUL FOR BROWN?!
So much for having an elite ATO coach. What a dumb, dumb final play decision.I didn't understand why we had to force with 40 seconds on the clock, the ball, and the lead.

I can deal with missed free throws. Boneheaded, idiotic giveaways of 2 points like that I can not forgiveSo we aren't in OT because we rolled a ball right to Dellevedova for him to pick up and score 2 right before half.
That p!sses me off.
Or we missed so many free throws in the first half.
We'd be talking about the 76ers RIGHT NOW if Kyrie, Hayward, Smart, and Theis were in uniforms.
Sorry ass Bucks trying to luck their way through the postseason.

don't forget clutch shot by Tatum too

I think this is a bit over reacting. Surely Brad had something else drawn, but the Bucks defense made sure it wouldn't work.

Yeah, this one irks me.
I don't mind Morris getting the ball, but he stalled and let Middleton set himself up to defend. Make a quick move. Whatever it is, just make a quick one. Did not know why he had to hold the ball for a couple seconds to make a move.
Lots of hindsight bias in here right now.
We got Morris in a one-on-one situation where he had a size advantage. He got a clean look and missed it. It happens.
You can complain about Brown not getting the shot, Tatum not getting the shot, whatever, but nobody is crying if he hits that.
Rolling the ball up the floor with 1.3 seconds left in the half is just to cute.Well Brad was right about one thing: this team lost its collective mind at some point in this game.
Use to like gianiss but he is an **** with all the antics.
The defense was ATROCIOUS that last 10 minutes or so. The Bucks scored on almost every possession.
A lot of youthful mistakes on that end.
Loved the shotmaking by the young guys down the stretch though. This bodes well for the future.

Brown totally should have held it, but he had his arm ripped away from the ball and they just let it slide. This then led to the wide-open Brogdon 3. That is a 5 point swing and the reason we lost this game.
And I know, I know, if we had played better earlier in the game, then we wouldn't have needed that play, but we didn't and we lost a game that we should have won.
By the way, Monroe didn't play a minute in the second half and I'm glad Brad seemed to realize that offensive rebounds only go so far when you can't guard anyone at all.I like Monroe and he is trying to play defense but he has the hands of stone. Every catch and every rebound is bobbled.

Suffering through an ESPN broadcast for 2 and a half hours really makes me appreciate Mike, scal, and even Tommy so much more. Hubie brown is just lost and rambles on and on without actually connecting the dots with what he's saying. Then you got this other guy who's in his late 40s trying to throw in sayings teenagers say into the broadcast, it's just a trainwreck with those 2. I'm sorry but I'm not trying to hear "Giannis caught a body" over and over..If you think this was bad, just tune into a NE Revolution game on the radio...

No hindsight bias whatsoever, that's BS....You give the ball to your best players, period.
It's fools gold thinking a partially open Morris is a better option than a more tightly guarded Horford/Brown/Tatum. I'd trust anyone of them more to make something happen, even tightly guarded, than Morris beating Middleton one-on-one from mid-range.
We need to win Game 5 and Game 6.
To shut those Bucks fans up. Still won't forgive them for chanting "Bucks in 6" against the Celtics towards the end of the regular season.
Just carry that momentum back to Boston. If we play all game with energy like we did in the 2nd half, we will blow them out
Were would we be without the overtime win in game one?THIS IS SUCH EFFING BS! HOW IS THAT NOT A FOUL FOR BROWN?!

If the C's had won, many of us (including me) would have said we stole one. And Bucks fans would have said they lost a game they should have won. Undermanned and young C's pushed the Bucks to the edge on the road. Good experience for the youth and hopefully the comeback reassured them that they can beat the Bucks. Win Game 5!

Yeah, I did the same thing. I'll expect to see that one in the two-minute report.
The Giannis charge was another very questionable one.
I'm with it. I hate that I see people say rozier is a good defender. He can't stay in front of anyone and gets switched in the pick and roll and then abused far too often. Which is sad because he could and should be a better defender than what he is.Just rush Smart back pleaseeee.
I know this is irrational. But as long as Smart can move his feet, I dont care if he can't pass or shoot, just take minutes from Larkin or Rozier! Even Ojeleye played better than those 2.
Crappy 48 hours for Boston sports teams.
Celtics lose Games 3 and 4.

Need to win five. It is basically a game 7 for boston
Brad Stevens says the two options on the final play were Rozier coming off a misdirection, which was taken away by a switch, or the one-on-one shot that Morris took.

Those two options were terrible. Rozier and Morris were the last two I want taking the shot

If this is the case, its not the worst idea. If everyone on this board was clamoring for the ball to go to one of the kids or Al, so was everyone in Milwaukee.
Our bench was 5-21 tonight.
That's what happens when 4 of your top 10 guys are hurt.
And we STILL almost won.

Im not sure brown made a mistake. He was in the open court where he is lethal and worst case scenario, he gets fouled. We were only up one and would have had to work to get a shot. Take the points if you can get them.THIS IS SUCH EFFING BS! HOW IS THAT NOT A FOUL FOR BROWN?!
Brown totally should have held it, but he had his arm ripped away from the ball and they just let it slide. This then led to the wide-open Brogdon 3. That is a 5 point swing and the reason we lost this game.

Yeah. It was clearly a foul on Brown that was missed (Ed Maloy is such a d bag), but we have to know to not push it there.
And ultimately that was on Rozier. It's the point guard's job to control the game in that manner, and him pushing it up to Brown on the break ultimately allowed this to happen. He should've pulled it back out and slowed it down. Honestly, just doing that probably wins us this game.
Rozier's terrible BBIQ once again kills us down the stretch.

Unfortunately, worse case scenario was actually brown getting fouled and the refs not calling it.
Yeah, but drawing a play with just two options... for the guys that have been ice cold all game? Trying a little too hard there, maybe. Come on, if you really hate giving it to the rooks, you can put Horford on the same play and make him earn his salary...https://twitter.com/celtics/status/988142162775822336?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fbleacherreport.com%2Fboston-celtics&tfw_site=bleacherreportQuoteBrad Stevens says the two options on the final play were Rozier coming off a misdirection, which was taken away by a switch, or the one-on-one shot that Morris took.

In Brad's defense, it wasn't as bad as the Jared Sullinger 3's he used to draw up ATO.
But yeah, not the ideal options there.
Last thing I wanna hear is the Celtics blew 2-0 series lead to the Bucks at the end of this series.
And I thought we're 35-0 all-time when leading 2-0 in a series. Better not let that streak snap by the Bucks of all teams.

Anyone remember the 2008 Championship team not winning a game in ATL in the first round? Took 7 to beat them. I’m not saying this team is a title contender, but it’s just time to take it to the Bucks back at home.
So anyone know what time the game on Tuesday will be?

It was not a third option. At best it was a 1B option.
But what makes it even better - Rozier was the 1A option. Morris and Rozier were a combined 7-25 at that point in the game....

That team we had PP34, KG, and Ray Allen in their primes complemented by the likes of James Posey, Rajon Rondo, Kendrick Perkins, Leon Powe, and Eddie House.

Anyone remember the 2008 Championship team not winning a game in ATL in the first round? Took 7 to beat them. I’m not saying this team is a title contender, but it’s just time to take it to the Bucks back at home.
Leftover thoughts from this game: that play with 40 seconds left where we turned it over shows me a team and a coach that want to win the game with offense, not with defense.we should have tried run down the clock. The problem is brown thought he saw an open lane so wanted to take advantage
The high percentage play here is to hold the ball, get a good shot, and if you miss -- prepare to defend the last possession. Even call a TO if you have to set up a play (we had 2 in the pocket).
Instead, we opted to force a fast break that wasn't there in the hopes of a basket that would have effectively ended the game. That's not winning basketball right there.
What open lane, he's going 1 on 3 there. There's also a coach right there that should have called the TO to stop this dumpster fire. Looking over the stats, I didn't realize how much we cleaned up the turnovers in the 2nd half. I think we had 6 at half time. We only had 8 for the game, which is pretty great. I know it is a minor point, but you can't come back from 20 if you don't take good care of the ball. That lesson seems to have stuck.

Certainly a good thing. Now about those dozen other lessons they still need to learn and fast ...

Just trying to push back on the negativity a bit lol....
That comeback was impressive.
We’re going to get the NBATV treatment, aren’t we?
I’m guessing Tuesday we’ll be on NBATV at 7:30, Philly/Miami on TNT at 8 and GS/SAS on TNT at 10:30.
We should be on TNT, not the Philly/Miami series.

I will say, regardless of that dumbass play call, or whether or not we win/lose this series, I've already seen everything I've needed to out of this playoff run.
All I cared about coming into the playoffs was to see how Tatum/Brown could handle a big role and whether or not Rozier was capable of being a starting caliber playoff PG.
Brown and Tatum have shown me all I need to see to know they are the cornerstones here we need them to be. Rozier has proven he's nothing more than a good backup. Whatever happens from here on out is irrelevant. It would be great if Boston can win this series, but if not, I'm not going to be terribly bothered by it.

Not that it matters, and I haven't complained about the refs once this series, but I saw another replay of that Brown drive and Middleton clearly got him on the arm. Very frustrating to concede a 5 point swing off a call like that.

In the heat of the game, we have our young 2nd year player who put up 34 points wanting to go for the kill and get the score that wins the game for us. He was in the open court trying to make a play at the biggest point of the game. He gets a pass from me on that. He was fouled. Blown call by the ref.

1) I'd like to hear more about soccer on the radio.
2) I hope the game on Saturday (I'm assuming a game 7) is the late one, since I have Red Sox tickets for the afternoon. My son has gotten baseballs at the last two games we went to (in San Diego and then Arizona; that kid has a four-leaf clover up his word-that-will-get-deleted) and he thinks he'll get another one, so there's no way I'm getting out of that game.
3) Okay, seriously, the Cs didn't lose this game because of a play before halftime, or Brown's turnover or the officiating - In fact, I'm guessing that there is a bucksblog.com somewhere where everyone is writing, "We won that game despite the refs being out to get us." We lost because they shot 52/44/75. We need to go into lockdown mode on defense.
Any way you slice it, I'm psyched for next year. Starting five of Irving/Hayward/Horford/Brown/Tatum? How great does that sound? And for those of you who don't know, each team only gets injured a certain number of times per decade, and since we used up all of our injuries this year, we don't have to worry about any more next year.

The NBA announces the Bucks should have been called for a foul on Jaylen Brown’s drive in the final minute. Middleton hit his arm.

Even more frustrating.... If we were home we get those calls.
Nba refs need to be impartial.
